Captain Xavier, Your Wife Has Signed the Divorce Papers
Chapter 182: Auntie, And Who Are You?
"Miss Wynter, you’re here. Please follow me." Lucas Lynch bowed slightly, smiling politely.
’Putting aside Wren Wynter’s identity, these people are all prominent figures in the medical association!’
"Mm." Wren Wynter and the others nodded.
Lucas Lynch led them to Kaden Xavier’s private elevator, heading straight for the top-floor office.
Inside, however, he was agonizing over what to do.
Before he could rack his brains for a solution, they had arrived.
Wren Wynter immediately spotted the young woman and the middle-aged woman sitting there.
Seeing them approach, the two merely glanced over.
But Wren Wynter didn’t miss the flash of jealousy in the young woman’s eyes when she saw her.
’This is the first time we’ve met, isn’t it?’
’Could she be jealous that I’m prettier than her?’
Wren Wynter was almost amused by her own narcissism.
"Miss Wynter, please go inside and wait. Mr. Xavier will be here shortly."
"Wait!" The middle-aged woman stood up, angrily pointing at Wren Wynter and her group. "Didn’t you say Mr. Xavier wasn’t here? Why can they go in?"
"Mr. Xavier hasn’t arrived at the office yet. They’re all honored guests of our company, and letting them wait inside will make it more convenient to discuss the project."
As expected of the man who had been Kaden Xavier’s assistant for years, Lucas Lynch’s words were flawless.
He neither offended Wren Wynter’s group nor gave the other two any grounds for rebuttal.
The middle-aged woman’s face turned livid with anger.
She took a deep breath, and as if an idea had struck her, she took the young woman’s arm and walked toward them.
"No way. We’re going in too. My daughter might not be engaged to Mr. Xavier yet, but she’s as good as the future CEO’s wife."
Lucas Lynch said with a smile that didn’t reach his eyes, "Mrs. Wallace, even if you do become our Mr. Xavier’s mother-in-law one day, I can’t let you in without his express permission."
’This mother-daughter duo sure is patient.’
’I told them Mr. Xavier isn’t here, yet they’ve been shamelessly waiting all afternoon.’
’Miss Wynter is probably going to get the wrong idea again.’
’They’re a real stumbling block on the boss’s path to winning back his wife.’
"You! How dare you speak to me like that! I’m going to marry Brother Kaden in the future. Auntie Helen said Brother Kaden is very pleased with me. If you offend me, don’t even think about staying at this company."
Wren Wynter said nothing in response to this childish threat, but she did pick up on a few keywords in her speech.
’Could this be the Tina that Helen Sawyer was talking about?’
’She’s nothing special!’
’Helen Sawyer’s taste is as bad as ever, throwing all sorts of riff-raff at Kaden Xavier.’
Tina Wallace stood with her hands on her hips, her gaze locked on Wren Wynter as if she wanted to tear her skin off.
She hated all women who were prettier than her!
’This woman is dressed so well. She must be here to seduce Brother Kaden!’
’No one is going to steal Brother Kaden from me!’
Wren Wynter felt uncomfortable under the intense stare and crossed her arms.
Ho-ran Park and Leo Crowe noticed and tacitly moved to stand in front of Wren Wynter.
None of them were the type to enjoy arguing, but they couldn’t help that they had a little demon with them.
"Well, well, ’Brother Kaden’... sounds so sappy," Leif Shaw said with a sneer. "Does he seem to care? If he really liked you, he would’ve come to meet you ages ago. Why would he make you wait here? Or are you just full of yourself?"
Tina Wallace bit her lower lip and stomped her foot in anger.
"You! You’re talking nonsense! Auntie Helen said Brother Kaden does like me! Otherwise, why would he send me a message telling me to come to the company!"
As she spoke, she even took out her phone and opened the chat history to show them.
Wren Wynter lifted her gaze and glanced at it coolly, noticing that it really was Kaden Xavier’s profile picture.
’It seems Kaden Xavier really does have a bit of a soft spot for this Tina Wallace.’
’Otherwise, with his personality, he never would have taken the initiative to invite her.’
Leif Shaw wanted to retort again, but Wren Wynter cut him off in a calm tone, "Since Miss Wallace minds, let’s just wait out here. It’s the same either way."
’The less trouble, the better.’
If Kaden Xavier really liked her, she didn’t want to get in their way.
"Wren!" Leif Shaw truly couldn’t stand the smug look on Tina Wallace’s face.
"Leif Shaw, listen to Wren," Ho-ran Park spoke up.
Leif Shaw had no choice but to drop it.
Seeing this, Lucas Lynch, who was standing to the side, started to panic.
’Miss Wynter has completely misunderstood now.’
’Mr. Xavier, oh, Mr. Xavier... I really can’t help you now. You’re on your own!’
Just as they sat down, a voice filled with surprise came from behind them.
"Sister-in-law? What are you doing here?"
It was Lana Xavier.
Five years had passed. She had blossomed, looking even more radiant. She’d shed her former spoiled and childish air, replacing it with a mature and steady presence.
Wren Wynter hadn’t expected to run into her here and was momentarily stunned.
Tina Wallace clearly knew who Lana Xavier was.
Hearing Lana Xavier say "sister-in-law," she thought she was being addressed and went up to her gleefully.
"Lana, don’t call me that yet. I haven’t married Brother Kaden." She took Lana Xavier’s arm very intimately, a shy look on her face.
At her narcissism and familiarity, Lana Xavier frowned, forcefully pulled her arm away, glared at Tina Wallace, and said bluntly, "Who are you?"
"PFFT!" Leif Shaw burst out laughing. "Sorry, couldn’t help it."
It was impossible to describe how awful Tina Wallace’s expression became.
Her mother hurriedly stepped forward to smooth things over for her. "You silly girl, how can you not recognize Tina? You two used to play together all the time."
"Ma’am, and who are you? Do we know each other?" Lana Xavier glanced over, showing her no respect whatsoever.
In her heart, the only one worthy of being her sister-in-law now was Wren Wynter.
After speaking, she walked straight to Wren Wynter and said joyfully, "Sister-in-law, you’re finally back."
’Her brother’s patience was finally going to pay off!’
Wren Wynter was having a hard time processing Lana Xavier’s attitude.
Before she and Kaden Xavier divorced, Lana Xavier had detested her more than just a little.
’Could it be because five years ago, Zane Langley and I saved her?’
"Sister-in-law, I was immature before and always targeted you. I apologize. Don’t worry, I’ll get along well with you from now on and will never cause you trouble again." Lana Xavier’s tone was sincere, and she seemed like a completely different person.
Hearing her apology, Wren Wynter felt little emotion and reminded her matter-of-factly, "Lana Xavier, your brother and I are divorced."
"Then can I call you Wren?"
’Her brother still hadn’t won Wren back? His progress was worryingly slow!’
"Mm." Under her eager gaze, Wren Wynter didn’t refuse.
"Wren, are you all here to discuss a collaboration with my brother?" Lana Xavier asked.
