Chapter 166 - 145: The 2nd Limit
This cup of Elixir Water should normally be sipped slowly, consumed in stages. This prevents its toxicity from being too potent and allows for gradual adjustments.
However, that method is suited for those with innate talent. For such people, their Mutated Organizations will grow with only slight stimulation.
Chen Chuan knew full well he wasn’t someone with innate talent. The toxicity of the Elixir Water Cheng Zitong had given him was likely already reduced, but fearing the stimulation wouldn’t be enough, he simply drank it all in one gulp.
As the cool, thick liquid entered his stomach, he first felt a heavy sensation. A moment later, a fiery heat flared up. This heat then transformed into a stinging pain that spread throughout his body, before giving way to a creeping numbness.
To reap the full effects of the Elixir Water, he didn’t use his Second Self to resist. He would only transfer the damage in a moment of true danger. Thus, he bore the full brunt of the Elixir Water’s effects himself.
After a while, when he felt his limbs begin to vanish and even breathing became difficult, he knew the elixir’s potency had saturated his body. He then began to activate the Guardian Breathing Method for his internal organs’ Mutated Organization.
He had studied this Breathing Technique many times before. Although he hadn’t practiced it in advance, he grasped it with ease on his first try, thanks to his existing foundation.
After guiding his breath for over an Hour, his energy and blood began to flow freely, and he once again regained control of his body. He stood up and began to repeatedly perform the Circulation Posture Strength, frequently unleashing different types of Power. He accompanied these movements with Calls corresponding to his various internal organs to deepen the medicine’s penetration.
Normally, Pile Force is a relatively gentle form of exercise. While the stimulation it provides is insufficient, it can be sustained for a long time.
Emitting Force, however, is different. The stimulation is sufficient, but the amount of Power someone at the First Limit can produce is finite. Therefore, when Breaking the Limit, the usual method is to drink the Elixir Water in small portions. This allows them to use the nutrients to replenish their energy, wait to recover slightly, and then continue, stretching the interval between each use of Emitting Force as long as possible.
But he paid this no mind. He unleashed his Power over and over, using it to constantly jolt and stimulate his internal organs while simultaneously having his Second Self continuously transfer the damage away.
Through his efforts, the Mutated Organization within his organs, which had seemed as dormant as seeds in soil, began to awaken. It gradually seeped outward, slowly spreading under his intentional guidance.
For an ordinary Fighter, such a breakthrough would require drinking the Elixir Water in stages and proceeding with caution, probing their own limits and carefully combining it with other medicines. The process might involve setbacks, and even if everything went smoothly, it would typically take two to three days.
However, such intermittent stimulation would also cause the Mutated Organization’s growth pathways to become fragmented and disorderly. Though this could be rectified later, the foundation would always remain flawed.
Yet in his case, he achieved it in a mere matter of Hours. The Mutated Organization went from dormancy to growth in what was practically a single, fluid motion, with no interruptions. This made its pathways exceptionally clear and orderly.
This method was not without its drawbacks. Forcing such rapid growth would result in the organization being somewhat fragile, its strength limited. However, this could be remedied later—in fact, it was the easiest flaw to fix. All it required was sufficient nutrients and stimulation to bolster it, and it would quickly grow strong.
Chen Chuan continued this process, and a full day quickly passed. Of course, he wasn’t constantly Emitting Force. After the initial activation, that was no longer necessary. He would stop after unleashing his Power a dozen or so times, transition into Strength Postures, or sit down to regulate himself with the Guardian Breathing Method.
One of these methods was aggressive, the other gentle. They ground against each other like yin and yang, blending and complementing one another in a feedback loop that kept the Mutated Organization continuously stimulated.
Finally, he felt a sticky film covering his entire body and could even smell a bitter stench. This was the toxic substances from the Elixir Water being expelled from his body. Only by expelling them completely could he be said to have fully utilized the medicine.
Now, he slowly guided his breathing, allowing everything to settle and calm down.
’This is as far as I can go today.’
’There’s a limit to how much the Mutated Organization can grow in a single day. Now that it’s been successfully awakened and activated, I just need to continue this process. It will likely take two to three days to consolidate it.’
’Besides, my Second Self has been transferring the damage from my Power all day; it’s almost at its limit. I’ll have to wait until tomorrow.’
He turned and left, first taking a hot shower and changing his clothes. When he returned, he sat on the daybed, quietly sipping tea and admiring the night view outside while exhaling slowly.
This place was certainly conducive to calming one’s mind. According to the materials he had read, as the Mutated Organization within the internal organs grew stronger and more complete, a Fighter’s emotions would be amplified. Some might even lose control of themselves.
This was especially true for younger Fighters, who, if not careful, could easily be driven by their emotions to do all sorts of irrational things.
The solution was to take medication to suppress the emergence of these amplified emotions. This was considered a necessary and, to date, the most effective method.
