Chaos and Order - A Multiverse Fanfic
Chapter 1038: Joining the Billion Club with a BANG!
Inheritance, Deep One’s Blessing, and Multiverse Interdependency.
In the Primordial Tower, these three were considered a one-way ticket to the Top Floors, especially if they were obtained before ascending to the 2nd Set for one reason —
— They had no cap on their growth potential!
Multiverse Interdependency was a wild card.
If one were lucky enough to understand the two or more Concepts from different Bubbles, and efficiently combine them as per their understanding, then, technically, one could easily create a Multiverse Interdependency, standing out from the herd, making a name for themselves.
However, that also turned Multiverse Interdependency itself a slave to a Contestant’s understanding of the original concepts and how they were combined.
The result could be truly powerful, like in the case of a Red Sun’s late wife.
Cam had combined her understandings of Beyblade and Pokemon, giving a faux fleshly build to a Bit Beast, which was essentially spiritual in nature. The Multiverse Interdependency was not only unique, but also incredibly practical, with unlimited potential.
Conversely, the result could be weaker than the combination of different concepts, or full of loopholes that could be easily exploited by strong, learned Contestants.
Northman, the Order’s Contestant whom Kai had met during his Mission in the Pokemon Timeline, had the Multiverse Interdependency, allowing him to possess a Pokemon’s mind using Game of Thrones’ Skinchanger ability.
In itself, it had been a great fusion of Concepts.
However, because Kai knew Parseltongue at that time, it had become a joke, Northman dying a cruel death after possessing a Seviper.
A Deep One’s Blessing had no such loophole, as it wasn’t reliant on a Contestant’s understanding. Also, unlike an Old One’s Blessing, it was much more complete, bringing both the bestower and beneficiary closer in mind and spirit.
It wasn’t like this type of Blessing was without its limitations, though.
First, bringing the bestower and beneficiary closer also meant that the Deep One would have a much stronger hold on the Contestant. That’s why Contestants still preferred obtaining an Old One’s Blessing through the Temples in the Primordial Tower, even if they had the chance to go for a Deep One’s in a timeline.
Second, once the Blessing was given, then that was it.
Malebolgia had bestowed the Blessing of Spawn upon Selena Hao. Because of her Soul-Blood Oath with Kai, though, the Blessing bestowed had been incomplete. After resurrection in the Primordial Tower, Spawn hadn’t been able to access many Blessing-specific Skills because of it.
Spawn could use her Blessing to fuel a plethora of abilities, like Byakugan, but the unique Skills that she hadn’t obtained were permanently gone.
And that’s where an Inheritance outpaced, outsmarted, and outshone the other two.
It was complete — from the get-go.
There was no involvement of a watcher like Deep One. There was no threat of one’s understanding resulting in a subpar ability, either. If there was a caveat, then it was that... one started from absolute zero.
So, if a Contestant remained alive, an Inheritance promised the greatest riches!
Many chose not to gamble their lives on that statement.
Red Sun had, accepting the Humanoid Typhoon Inheritance from Vash the Stampede during his Initiation Mission.
The Inheritance hadn’t made him a great marksman, though.
Red Sun had resurrected with that Ability, being an exceptional marksman in his original world.
The Humanoid Typhoon Inheritance had, instead, transformed Red Sun’s Source, turning him into a Plant.
In the Trigun Bubble, Plants were Interdimensional Beings that could generate an insane amount of energy by themselves, and were used as a Power Source by humans.
However, there were some sentient and independent Plants as well.
Vash the Stampede was one such Plant.
It was this unique physiology that granted Vash all his abilities.
So, when Red Sun obtained the Inheritance, the same was true for him as well.
All he had remaining to do was to make sure he lived long enough to keep evolving, unlocking the buried potential of his Inheritance.
In the beginning, all Red Sun had was a boost in his natural life.
He hadn’t unlocked Flight and Angel Arm much later, during his Tournament of Worth, with the theme Relentless, singlehandedly shocking the world.
But... Vash the Stampede hadn’t been limited to only these abilities.
...
Presently, in the sky, Red Sun noticed the whiteness of his skin, feeling the power coursing through him.
It wasn’t His Majesty who had turned him into a Level 3 Ephemeral Demon, but the AI’s Echo in his mind, meeting some condition.
Which meant, if he hadn’t unlocked his Inheritance’s Potential at this moment, the Echo wouldn’t have saved him with demonification’s regenerative powers, either.
That didn’t shock Red Sun at all.
This was how... it was supposed to be.
"... A Demon Slayer-based, Stats-boosting Skill?" Zeus’ words entered Red Sun’s ears. "... If you think that will help you, then you are delusional."
Red Sun knew that very well, as, even now, his Stats couldn’t hope to match Agent Zero’s Critical Mass transformation.
But... Stats weren’t everything.
The ground beneath Zeus’ feet cracked, and time stalled, everything graying out.
In the node of time, the armored, 9 ft assassin’s clawed hands appeared in front of Red Sun, aimed at his chest. No matter how fast Red Sun had become with this strange Skill, the result would still be the same as the last time, Zeus knew.
The Haki-clad Claws entered Red Sun’s chest, and... the entire figure blurred, as if...
Zeus’ eyes behind the flat, steely mask widened to the extreme. "... Instant teleportation?!"
Red Sun blurred into existence next to Zeus, the tip of his revolver aimed at the 12th Floor Contestant’s temple.
"Do you know what’s better than one bullet?" The Humanoid Typhoon asked. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
Zeus blinked away, appearing at the edge of the town.
And, to his utter shock, he found the revolver still aimed at his head.
Red Sun’s evil, purple eyes stabbed into Zeus’s head. "... Two bullets, you dumbass!"
With a buzz, Red Sun’s entire arm became a massive gun, gaining wings. However, unlike usual, the Angel Arm didn’t have only one barrel, but... two, a massive blob of blackness appearing in front of them.
Before Zeus could even hear the BANG, a blackish-whiteness drowned him...
... the last image manifesting in his mind was that of a winged angel of death!
