Chaos and Order - A Multiverse Fanfic
Chapter 1071: Patronus vs. Force - A Doomed Fate!
Black had realized the nature of his Patronus earlier than even Death and Timeline.
However, as the progression of casting the Patronus had been crucial for its full materialization, he hadn’t dared to cut it off midway, letting his emotions run wild.
Otherwise, in no way would Black have let it continue.
The reason was simple.
Black had not cast the Patronus Charm using a Wand.
This, in itself, was not as grand a feat as it seemed, with many Contestants capable of casting Wandless, Chantless Magic in the Harry Potter Bubble, like Shae, the Golden Mage.
Two things made the casting of this Magic a nigh-impossible act, though.
First, even among Spells, the Patronus Charm was one of those that was extremely connected to Nature itself — the Source of all Magic; the very core of the Harry Potter Bubble.
Even the grandest Storyline Characters from Pillar timelines couldn’t cast a full Wandless, Chantless Patronus with the same efficacy and might as its proper, more traditional way of casting. Because such an act would mean that the wizard had somehow bypassed the restrictions of not only Wand usage, but also Chant usage — becoming a medium to cast the Spell oneself!
And that was utterly ridiculous, as such a fact suggested that one was connected directly to Nature!
Second, and perhaps more relevant to Black, was the fact that he hadn’t used Ancient Magical Script.
Ancient Magical Script had no true beginning or end; at least, not a known one.
The only fact publicly known by some of the Bubble’s residents was that it was a manifestation of Nature itself, letting one read, write, and learn the very concept of Magic, without the need of any Wand or Chant.
Only the Order of Immortal Lotus, perhaps, knew more.
Like the fact that it was Zelretch who had stolen the Ancient Magical Script when the Harry Potter Bubble had no Deep One.
That, ever since then, people had been forced to rely on a mediocre Magic system, using Wands and Chants to connect to Nature.
That, no matter what, it would be impossible to truly be one with Nature.
Black... had not done that.
He had not only done that.
In that moment, Black had gone beyond the limitations and the realms of hidden, archaic knowledge and understanding, connecting not to Nature directly, but... becoming his own Nature!
It wasn’t the Harry Potter Bubble that had fueled Black’s Patronus Charm.
It wasn’t Nature where the power to cast the Charm had come from.
Even if Black’s Ancient Magical Script was a result of his understanding through the Yellow Sign, it wasn’t the Script that had unraveled the Spell’s mysteries for him.
It was him.
It was all him.
The Magic had been fueled by his bones, his muscles, his cells.
It had been fueled by his deepest, hidden intentions and emotions.
Black’s Patronus Charm was so clean, pure, and powerful that it had shocked the living breath out of Death and Timeline because of its hidden implications.
Of course, Black had no clue what They had been hiding from him regarding this.
However, warned by Lucky Intuitions, he knew never to use the Patronus so casually, especially not outside his Main Mission’s timeline.
Becoming a Wand was Kai’s grandest secret.
And, he didn’t know how, but he knew casting the Patronus Charm that day was the key to it!
So, when Death told him to use the Patronus, Black couldn’t help but feel as if He was trying to take advantage of the situation to force him to use the Spell again — to understand how and why it had happened that day.
Regardless of Black’s apprehensions toward all this, and regardless of whether Death had some selfish objective behind His suggestion, there was no denying that He... still did not need to lie to him.
If Death had claimed that Black’s unique Patronus might work against the parasitic Force, then that was his only hope.
It wasn’t like he had a choice, either.
A few more seconds, and then both Black and Kai would cease to exist together, with no hope of ever coming back!
"What about the disintegrated Source?" Black asked, deciding.
[That’s something I can help with,] Death the Artificer guided his creation. [The Source is being scattered into Null. Once the parasitic Force is dealt with, I can converge it, making it whole. That’s what I did when I resurrected you by creating a paradox.]
Null... The Realm... The Concept of Concepts... The Mystery of Mysteries...
Null... from where Death and many Deep Ones drew their powers...
Black still remembered what the Purple King had promised him.
But this was not the time to test his Luck and ask Death more about it.
The Ad Infinitum came to a dead halt.
The Lucky Intuitions were thrown behind a secured vault.
The Calm, still crawling somewhere within him, buried itself deeper and deeper.
And, when Black had hidden all his Mysteries, knocking down all his defenses, memories drowned him—of a different life; of a world, where he had been worshiped as a Messiah; where he had been hunted as a Demon.
In that ocean of sadness, anger, hate, and vengeance, only one island stood out, radiating a fact with hope and happiness.
It was the fact that even after dying twice, after all the things he had done and been forced to do, after crossing dimensions and worlds... his mother still believed in him; her ideals and teachings still lived within him.
And the moment those feelings overwhelmed Black, the parasitic Force around the faux Sun over his Source pulsed, as if sensing doom.
Sadly, this wasn’t a doom that could be prepared against just by knowing of it.
Like blood staining a pure sheet of black silk, a redness oozed out of Black, seeping within.
A HISS pervaded the blackness where the Source hovered, now with only its head remaining.
Then, the redness gathered around it, coiling, before taking a definite form.
It was a red-scaled serpent — seemingly as large as a world — its yellow, slitted eyes planted dead on the Sun and the Force.
The Patronus hissed, narrowing its eyes, flicking out its tongue.
Then, as the parasitic Force hummed in defiance, the red serpent lunged... and swallowed the Sun whole!
