Chaos Devourer System: My Classless Ascension
Chapter 172 - 171:Land of the Damned! (1)
"So... tell me, how’d I do, how’d you like the class.." Liz’s excited voice came from the front of my desk where she’d made herself comfortable.
Her lecture had ended a while ago, with her getting into a little more details about arts and their uses.
I’d tuned most of those out as my mind was currently digesting what I’d just learned.
I was absolutely right to have come to this class.
To think arts went that deep.
They weren’t merely more creative ways or just pump action for your abilities, they were more complex than all of that.
You’d think I’d have known that considering the absurdity I’d seen within <Edicts Of The Solar Compendium>, <Myriad Netherworld Ice Arts> and <Myriad Tranformation Arts>.
But those weren’t even the biggest surprises here.
I finally understood just why Valen had emphasized on the importance and rarity of a nameless art.
While other arts, inherited by the descendants of powerful legacies were definitely powerful, they were ultimately the compilation of someone else’s comprehension.
Yes, you can gain insights from them, since according to Liz, an art is ever evolving and transforming, but it still would not be truly yours.
But what I’ve got, this Nameless Halberd Arts, it could well and truly be mine, something tailored and I don’t use that word lightly, specifically to my own tastes.
What did that mean? The more I incorporate into the art, the more in sync I get with it, the more in sync I get with, the more proficient I get with the various abilities I’ll be incorporating into it, the more I get accustomed to them, the more progress I make towards their comprehensions, until eventually, I’m able to grasp whatever law or concept is behind that particular ability...
And what’s even better? The fact that it would pair ridiculously well with chaotic comprehension..
The ability alone was a cheat, but now, I didn’t even need to see others use a law to grasp it, I just had to incorporate enough abilities into this art, spam the shit out of them, then let Chaotic Comprehension do the work.
Simple, effective, broken.
And if I had some "reference material" ontop of that?
"Yea, it was pretty helpful..." I replied to Liz’s question, a faint smile on my face..
"Hehehe.. good... I’m glad you liked my teaching, so does that mean I’ll be seeing you more often in class?" She asked with bright eyes, body leaning forward..
"Well, I plan to start taking missions soon, gotta rack up those achievements and academy points, you know.." I scratched the back of my head..
I had no plans of wasting time within the outer court, nothing here was interesting.
The plan was to spend less than a month here, a week or two, if I push it, get to the inner court, repeat the same process, then get into the supreme sanctum where all the true monsters are gathered, where I’ll have the privilege to face peers that were truly exceptional, since according to Melissa, everyone there has already comprehended a law or two or even three, with some already at the stage of integration...
As for why I wasn’t going in there guns blazing right now? Same reason I wasn’t bashing Darius’ skull in yet, not strong enough..
So, "I don’t think I’ll be attending many classes that often.."
"Pooh... and here I thought we were going to be seeing each other a lot.."
"If you say things like that, people will start to believe you’re giving me preferential treatment.."
"Well, I can do whatever I want, anyone with an issue with that can step up anytime, I’ll be sure to educate them properly.." she grinned menacingly..
Damn, nothing was hotter than a woman who knew how to stand on business I tell you..
"Hahaha... well then, if you say it like that, I can only keep quiet and be spoilt, no?" I stood up, height towering over her..
The way her eyes seemed to glow in appreciation made me smile in satisfaction...
Together we made our way out the class, a sulking Malachi trailing behind us while the class could only stare in dumbfounded shock as a new student like them walked away casually with what was probably the hottest woman they’d ever had the privilege of seeing..
"So.. what mission do you plan on taking? The outer court doesn’t have that many difficult ones." Liz asked as she walked beside me..
"Hmmm.. I’m not sure, I haven’t been to the mission hall anyway, I’ll just pick anything that looks relatively cool.." I placed my hand on my chin as I replied..
"Or, you could just ask sir gloomsalot I’m sure he’ll be delighted to give you something to do.."
"Pft.... Please, Liz, you’ll get me in trouble.." I almost laughed before I caught myself, wary of any lurking old men that have the tendency of reading people’s thoughts..
"Pfft.... Hahahahahaha..." clearly my reaction got to her, as she burst out laughing, hands clasping her stomach as her melodious voice echoed through the halls...
"Yea, laugh it up, you’re not the one the old man will be folding like wet tissue.." my lips twitched violently as her laughter continued..
"Haha.. sorry.. it’s just.. your face.. I thought you weren’t scared of anything, huh? Big man got humbled.." she snickered..
"Yea, no thanks to you.." I rolled my eyes...
"Haha.. yea.. sorry, but as I was saying, I’m sure he’ll have something for you, he always has something.." she shuddered lightly at that..
Seems she’s got some hidden trauma as well, poor thing..
"Well, I’ll see.." we’d arrived back at the outer court plaza and I could already spot Cara’s figure by a fountain, she seemed fascinated with something inside..
"Well, I guess this is goodbye, it was nice talking to you.." I made ready to leave, but she caught my wrist..
"Hmm? Anything else, instructor~~~" I called with a teasing voice..
"Humph... don’t make fun of me.. I was.. you know.. just wondering.. if I could.. maybe.. get your contact? You know, just to clear up any misunderstandings you might have about arts later.." she fidgeted..
Gotta say, her fidgeting expression was pretty adorable, plus, she was cool to be around, nothing like what you’d expect from an instructor, plus did I mention that she was hot as hell???
"Sure, but, don’t go complaining if I do more than just talk about arts and stuff..."
"Humph... you’re just teasing me..." she pouted as I passed over my elite student card..
This thing was built for everything it seems..
"So, can I go now?" I asked once more after receiving the card back with a new saved contact..
"Yes, but one last thing.."
"What’s that?"
"I wouldn’t rush to take a mission right now, there’s a compulsory exploration exercise for all the new students next week, you should do your mission after that, since more often than not, you guys will be taken to some pretty interesting places where you’ll get the chance to both train and challenge yourselves.."
Oh.. I didn’t know that, then again, I hadn’t really bothered myself with any information since getting here..
"Alright, thanks.. I guess I’ll be leaving then.." I waved her goodbye as I left with Malachi in tow, the guy had been pretty quiet lately, though I wasn’t complaining, the silence was welcomed..
"Hey..." I wrapped my arms around Cara’s waist, rousing her from her stunned fascination..
"Oh.. hey, when did you get here?"
"Just now, you seemed like you were lost in thought.."
"Oh, that, I just saw something really cool within the fountain and seemed to have drifted off from there.."
"You entered a state of enlightenment whilst looking at a fountain?"
"Yea, pretty much.."
".... Okay, I guess?"
"Don’t sweat it.. haha.. ready to get back? The others are already home.." she smiled..
"Ughhh.... This can’t be real" I groaned, already dreading the thought of walking into that den of temptation..
"Hehehe... next time you won’t go around flirting with women.." Cara laughed at my plight as we finally made our way toward the teleportation station...
...
Three days later...
It had already been a week since I’d gotten into Aeternum and other than the three days I’d spent on my Nameless Halberd Arts, the class with Liz, nothing else of note had taken place..
Well, if we didn’t count the numerous sneak attacks I’d gotten at my own mansion, the various attempts at taking away my Elite student card from both the older outer court students and some clueless inner court ones, then yea, nothing that important.
Though I gotta say, they weren’t kidding when they said this place was wild..
Deaths might not have been allowed, but the number of crippled new students within this week alone?
Yea, this place definitely deserved its name "Graveyard Of Geniuses".
But!!! All that was insignificant!
Because today was the day we were finally going on that exploration Liz had told me about earlier..
So, the moment the door to the elite class opened up and the old Instructor Voren stepped in, my excitement peaked..
"Hello there young ones, it seems some of you are quite excited today." The old man laugh..
"I can understand why, so, without wasting anymore of your time, we shall depart immediately.."
SNAP!
The moment the old man snapped his fingers, my vision blurred briefly and when it cleared, I was no longer sitting in a classroom..
The scenery had changed completely..
"Welcome students, to one of the forbidden zones on terra.." the old man’s voice interrupted my thoughts..
I looked up and there it was, a swirling dark crimson portal that radiated an intense wave of aura so nefarious I could feel a chill crawl up my spine..
"Welcome, to The land of the damned!"
