A slow smile curled up my lips as I focused on the sweet notification that had just appeared before me.

[You have comprehended the [SUPREME]<Law of Inevitability>.]

[SUPREME]<Law of inevitability(1.0000...00005%)>.

"Jackpot!"

That was it..

The thing I’d been hoping to get earlier.

It was a wild thought, one that normally wouldn’t come to mind, but the moment I read the description of the skill, pairing it with what I had personally experienced?

There was only one word I could have used to define it.

Inevitable.

Inescapable.

The fact that the attack had been able to take effect even when I stopped time, solidified that thought even more, hence why I had hoped that I could get my hands on it..

As for if it hadn’t worked out? I still held a lawless fragment that could bypass the searching process and help me comprehend it, so long as such a law existed...

"Finally.." finally I could go ahead with my plans..

"Tell me you didn’t really just comprehend a Supreme law that casually.." before I could begin my work, Kaila’s disbelieving voice stopped me..

"Hmmm... oh, you girls are still here." I looked around, surprised the girls were still there, I’d thought they left out of boredom..

"What do you mean, oh, you girls are still here? How did you do that?" Khalifa wasn’t known much for her patience..

"What? I told you girls I was planning on comprehending a new law and that’s what I did. Why are you girls acting so surprised?"

"This bastard.. he’s doing it on purpose, isn’t he? Rubbing it in our faces." Khalifa seemed genuinely upset about something I had no idea about.

"Look, ladies, I don’t know why you’re acting up, but it’s just an initial comprehension, nothing more, I still have something more important to do." I tried telling them off peacefully..

"Hmm? More important than comprehending a Supreme Law?" This time it was Mira that was confused, her expression saying she clearly wasn’t believing anything I was saying.

"Look, it seems you ladies aren’t convinced with anything I’m saying or showing, so how about this? Let me get done everything I have planned and then I’ll attend to all your questions, alright?" They still seemed unconvinced but luckily, "alright. But you’ll have to explain properly when you’re done." Mira was there to save the day, well until my next words that is..

"Good, thanks, time to use this law fragment, seems my plan of comprehending two laws won’t be a far fetched dream after all.." I didn’t bother waiting for the girls’ reactions as I immediately pulled out the hexagonal crystal from my inventory, placing it within my palms, my eyes closing once more in concentration, ready to perform another absurd feat. That’s right, I was ready to comprehend ANOTHER! Supreme law.

......

Somewhere far away, in a location the world had tried very hard to misplace in its own memory, Terra ends not with a border, but with a refusal.

The land here did not taper into wilderness or sea. It fractured. Broken as though something immense once pressed a thumb against reality and never fully lifted it again.

The result? An expanse of blackened terrain, cracked like cooled glass, stretching beneath a sky that never quite settles into the same shade twice.

Light arrives here incorrectly, too slow, too hesitant, like it was trying not to be seen.

Nothing in this place grew in a natural way. What remained of life felt unfinished, interrupted mid-evolution.

The trees were reduced to skeletal impressions of themselves, jagged silhouettes of charcoal wood that lean without direction. Strange mineral-like formations jut from the ground in looping veins, as if the earth itself tried to heal and forgot what "healed" meant.

Even silence behaved strangely.

It was not absence here. It was pressure.

A dense, unseen weight that settled into everything, compressing sound until even movement felt like an intrusion.

Footsteps did not echo so much as they sank, swallowed before they could become proof that they ever existed.

The air carried a faint metallic sting, like reality had been left exposed too long and had begun to rust at the edges.

And then there was the heart of the forsaken landscape.

Where everything in this forsaken expanse seemed to subconsciously avoid looking at for too long.

At first glance, it appeared as a distortion in space, an unnatural vertical seam in the world, as if reality itself had been cut and the wound never permitted it to close.

But the longer one observed, the clearer its true nature became.

This was not a gate, the word itself felt wrong.

This was a threshold that refused definition.

The entrance to the Abyss itself.

A towering rift suspended between existence and something that did not agree with existence’s rules.

Its edges were never still, they flickered , eroded, and reasserted themselves in an endless contradiction, as though the concept of "boundary" could not decide whether it applied here.

Light did not reflect from it.

It was instead pulled inward, swallowed without return, leaving the surrounding air subtly darker in a way the eye struggled to confirm but the mind refuses to ignore.

Distance near it lost meaning and definition.

The closer one looked, the more the world bends in on itself, depth stretching where there should be none, angles misaligning by degrees too small to immediately notice but too consistent to dismiss.

Sound, too, became unreliable, sometimes arriving fractured, as though echoing from a moment that has not yet happened.

Surrounding this impossible wound in reality was mankind’s answer to it. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

Fortress rings of colossal scale encircle the Abyssal Gate in layered formation, each one constructed with the quiet determination of civilizations that understood retreat was not an option they were allowed to consider.

Stone bastions reinforced with rune-forged alloy rose like frozen waves of war, their surfaces carved with defensive sigils that never fully dimmed, even in moments of supposed calm.

Great arcane artillery lined the ramparts, vast instruments of destruction positioned not with the arrogance of conquest, but the patience of a forgone conclusion. They were not aimed so much as they were waiting, their presence less a declaration and more an admission that whatever lay beyond had already been taken seriously for far longer than most would survive thinking about it.

The soldiers stationed within these fortifications did not carry the posture of defenders in a normal sense. There was no pride in their stance, no romanticism of frontier duty.

Only endurance.

Only routine.

They were custodians of a boundary no one pretends to fully understand, maintaining vigilance over a truth the world had agreed not to speak of too loudly.

Because nothing about this place encouraged confidence.

And no one here lingers near the Abyssal Gate longer than necessary.

Not because it is forbidden.

But because the longer one stared into it...

...the more it felt less like a gateway and more like one was staring into the soul of something incomprehensible.

and this would’ve been the same on any other day, but not today, because today, the fortress was expecting guests.

Soldiers lined up in disciplined positions, men and women in rune-enhanced bio suits stood ready, weapons humming with latent energy, ready for any anomalies that might occur..

A presence suddenly filled the air, turning the atmosphere somehow more dreary than it already was, the stationed soldiers were instantly alerted, weapons raised, only for their figures to freeze as their eyes found the source of the pressure..

There, right at the edge of the gate, two figures had appeared, no, more precisely, it felt like they had been there since the very beginning but the world was just now acknowledging their presence....

"Hmmmmmmm... haaaaaa.... Finally!"

"It’s good to be back!"
