Chasing His Ex: The Tycoon's Hidden Twins
Chapter 102: Jiang Yixia’s Troubles
Jiang Yixia panicked the moment she heard that.
She immediately put down the lunch box in her hands and asked, "What’s wrong? What happened?"
Jiang Ming explained from the other end of the line, "I... I hit a student."
"Why?" Jiang Yixia’s heart pounded with even more anxiety.
Her younger brother, Jiang Ming, was a PE teacher at a middle school.
He had a short temper on a good day.
If he’d hit a student, this was serious!
Jiang Ming sighed. "The student was being a complete brat. During my PE class, he was deliberately trying to lift a female classmate’s clothes. I reprimanded him, but instead of showing any remorse, he called the girl fatherless, a bastard. I got so angry... and I slapped him."
"How could you be so impulsive?" Jiang Yixia said worriedly.
"It’s just—I remembered how Silu and Sifan were mocked like that when they were little. I saw red and wanted to teach a student like that a lesson," Jiang Ming replied.
Hearing this, Jiang Yixia quickly asked, "How is the student now? Did he go to the hospital?"
"It’s not that bad. He’s totally fine; I didn’t even use much force. But the kid is cunning. He went and told his mom right away. Now his parents are camped out in the principal’s office and have called the police, demanding an explanation. The school told me not to come in for now, that I’m suspended," Jiang Ming explained.
After hearing this, Jiang Yixia didn’t know what to do for a moment.
She suggested, "Okay, how about this? Come to my flower shop. We can talk in person."
"Okay."
After hanging up, Jiang Yixia immediately packed up the lunch box.
She thought for a moment and realized she probably didn’t have enough time to go to the hospital and then back to the flower shop.
So, she just hired a courier.
A short while later, the courier arrived.
Jiang Yixia handed him the bag with the lunch box and instructed, "This is for Lu Fan in VIP ward 301 of the inpatient department at Donghua Hospital. Make sure he gets it."
"Don’t worry."
With that, the courier left.
Jiang Yixia then opened WeChat on her phone, intending to send Lu Fan a message.
But for some reason, it felt awkward.
In the end, she didn’t send it. Instead, she closed her front door and hurried toward the flower shop.
Meanwhile, Lu Fan also arrived at Donghua Hospital shortly after.
He checked the time. It was only 11:30. He figured Jiang Yixia probably hadn’t arrived yet.
So he entered the room without a worry.
But when Lu Fan walked over to the hospital bed, he saw a lunch box sitting beside it and mistakenly thought Jiang Yixia had already come and gone.
He called a nurse over and asked, "Did someone deliver food?"
"Mr. Lu, a food delivery courier brought it," the nurse replied.
"A food delivery courier?" Lu Fan was a little surprised. "Are you sure?"
"Yes, it was delivered quite early. It arrived around ten-thirty," the nurse explained.
Lu Fan was a bit puzzled.
’Why was it delivered so much earlier than usual today?’
’Did something happen?’ Lu Fan’s heart skipped a beat.
He immediately asked Chen He, "Have the bodyguards at the flower shop noticed anything unusual?"
Chen He made a call right away.
Soon, he got a response.
Then he reported to Lu Fan, "Ms. Jiang has returned to the flower shop. And there’s a man standing at the entrance—it’s her brother."
"I see." Lu Fan finally understood.
So, it was Jiang Yixia’s brother who had come looking for her.
That was why she had a courier deliver the food.
But generally speaking, Jiang Yixia knew how to prioritize.
For her to hire a courier instead of coming herself, something must have happened with her brother.
Lu Fan finished the food in his room and then said to Chen He, "Let’s go. We’re going to the flower shop."
「Meanwhile, at the flower shop.」
Jiang Ming sat down, looking rather guilty.
He was worried his sister would yell at him.
Growing up, Jiang Ming had always taken Jiang Yixia’s word as law.
Especially back when he was only ten and Jiang Yixia became pregnant.
From that point on, Jiang Ming helped take care of his nephew and niece.
His goal was to help ease some of the pressure on his sister.
You could say he had watched his nephew and niece grow up.
When he heard that boy call the girl fatherless, a bastard, Jiang Ming just couldn’t stop himself from slapping him.
Jiang Ming apologized, "Sis, I know I was wrong."
But Jiang Yixia didn’t scold him. Instead, she patted his shoulder and said, "Your heart was in the right place, but you handled it the wrong way. No matter what the student does, you can’t hit them. Kids these days are coddled. Parents treat them like they’re made of glass. It’s not like when we were young."
"Yeah, I know." Jiang Ming was clearly at a loss. "I heard that kid’s family is very well-off. His dad owns a company. Do you think he’ll take this all the way to the Bureau of Education? Will any school want to hire me after this?"
"Don’t panic. Let me think of something."
Although Jiang Yixia tried to comfort Jiang Ming,
what could she possibly do?
Jiang Ming was clearly the one in the wrong.
The act of hitting a student alone was basically a death sentence in terms of who was right and wrong.
She looked at Jiang Ming, her heart softening. "It’s okay. If it really comes to it, you can just stop being a teacher and come help me here. Business at the flower shop has gotten much better, and companies and offices often place orders for flowers. You can be in charge of deliveries, and I won’t have to call a delivery service."
"Sis, I’m sorry for troubling you," Jiang Ming said, his voice thick with grievance.
"It’s alright. If the sky falls, your big sister will be here to hold it up for you," Jiang Yixia comforted him. "But don’t tell Mom and Dad about this yet. They went to such great lengths to get you that job at the school, giving gifts and making inquiries everywhere."
"Okay, I know," Jiang Ming nodded.
Jiang Yixia then looked at the Meituan notification on her phone.
She saw that the food had been delivered a while ago.
’I wonder if that guy has eaten yet,’ she thought.
Just as she was thinking,
a familiar figure appeared.
Lu Fan walked into the flower shop and asked, "Yixia, did something happen today?"
Hearing that voice, Jiang Ming immediately whipped his head around to look at Lu Fan.
His face filled with anger as he said, "What are you doing here again?"
Although Jiang Ming had been a bit scared after being threatened by Chen He last time,
he would beat Lu Fan to a pulp if he dared to harass his sister.
Jiang Yixia held Jiang Ming back and explained, "He doesn’t mean any harm. You don’t have to be like this."
"Sis," Jiang Ming said, confused. "After everything he’s done to you, you’re still defending him."
"I’m not defending him," Jiang Yixia replied. "But let’s be fair. The other day, the shop’s rolling gate was broken, and I was trapped inside. He was the one who helped me pull it open, and he hurt his hand doing it."
"Why didn’t you call me!" Jiang Ming asked. "If you’d called me, I would have come to help you."
"What if you were teaching a class? I would have been stuck for a long time," Jiang Yixia replied.
Jiang Ming then glanced at Lu Fan’s hand, saw the gauze wrapped around it, and sneered, "What a wimp. You hurt your hand just from lifting a rolling gate."
Chen He grew angry hearing this and took a step forward.
But Lu Fan stopped him.
He then smiled at Jiang Ming and said, "I run a business, so I rarely do this kind of manual labor. Not like our brother-in-law here, who’s so strong and sturdy. It’s hard for him to get hurt."
Hearing this, Jiang Ming puffed up with pride.
’Heh, you know your place.’
Wait a minute, who’s your brother-in-law!
After the teasing remark, Lu Fan looked at Jiang Yixia and said, "Is there anything I can help with?"
"No." Jiang Yixia had no intention of telling him about Jiang Ming hitting the student.
After all, this was the Jiang Family’s business.
Seeing this, Lu Fan looked at Jiang Ming and said, "Brother-in-law, if you need any help, you can tell your sister, or..."
He took out a business card and offered it to him. "Or you can come find me directly."
"Who wants your card?" Jiang Ming slapped the business card out of his hand.
Chen He couldn’t take it anymore. He pointed at Jiang Ming and said, "Don’t take it too far!"
"What? So your boss is allowed to bully my sister? That’s hilarious!" Jiang Ming was already furious about the incident with the student, and now this big lug Chen He was yelling at him. He slapped his own cheek and said, "Go on, hit me! Let’s see who’s unluckier, you or me!"
Chen He gritted his teeth in anger.
But Lu Fan just smiled. "Harmony brings wealth."
He looked at Jiang Yixia and said, "Yixia, I won’t disturb you any longer. I’ll be going now."
Seeing him about to leave, Jiang Yixia finally said, "Remember to go back to the hospital and get your dressing changed."
"Okay, I will."
With that, Lu Fan left.
After he was gone, Jiang Ming asked, perplexed, "Sis, why are you still so concerned about him? You don’t still have feelings for him, do you?"
"Don’t be ridiculous." Jiang Yixia’s face instantly flushed red.
She picked up the business card from the floor and then chided Jiang Ming, "No matter how much you hate someone, you can’t just trample on their business card like that. A business card represents a person’s dignity. You shouldn’t do that."
"Oh." Although Jiang Yixia was lecturing him, Jiang Ming still felt unconvinced.
He watched Lu Fan in the distance and grumbled to himself, ’I don’t see what’s so great about that guy. He looks like a cheating scumbag. After all these years of hooking up with so many women, who knows what kind of diseases he has. That’s probably why he got hurt so easily just by lifting a stupid gate.’
Seeing Jiang Ming constantly badmouthing Lu Fan, Jiang Yixia finally said, "Alright, it’s not like you’re much better."
Jiang Ming had no choice but to shut his mouth obediently.
For the rest of the day, he stayed and helped out at Jiang Yixia’s flower shop.
And while she worked, Jiang Yixia would occasionally glance across the street to where the bakery was.
She wondered if Lu Fan would be hurt or upset by what her brother had said.
’Even though that guy is really annoying sometimes, he can also be pretty nice.’
’What Jiang Ming said just now was really harsh. I wonder if he’ll be offended.’
’Whatever, I’m not going to think about this.’
’The most important thing right now is to deal with Jiang Ming’s problem.’
Of course, Lu Fan wasn’t going to get angry with his brother-in-law.
He simply had Jiali investigate to find out what had happened.
「Meanwhile, in the principal’s office at Jiasheng Middle School.」
A couple was angrily laying into the principal.
"Principal Huang, when you were fundraising to build this private school, you came to me. Out of respect for us being from the same ancestral clan, I gave you one million yuan!"
"Now my son has been beaten! Tell me, what are you going to do about it?!"
"Either you hand that teacher over to me to deal with,"
"Or I’ll call ten or twenty media outlets right now to expose your school for a teacher using corporal punishment on a student!"
