Chapter 124: Chapter 122: Jiang Yixia Teaches Lu Fan to Cook, and Gets Jealous

However, just to be safe,

Lu Fan had Jiali stay with Jiang Silu in the hospital room.

Of course, the hospital had its own nurses and doctors.

But he could only rest easy if one of his own was by his daughter’s side.

On his way back to the manor,

he made a point of calling Jiang Yixia.

When Jiang Yixia saw the incoming call from him, she hesitated. But, figuring that he wouldn’t call for no reason, she finally picked up.

"Hey, Yixia," Lu Fan greeted from the other end. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

"What is it?" Jiang Yixia asked calmly.

"What does Silu like to eat?" Lu Fan asked.

Jiang Yixia was a little confused. "Why are you asking?"

"It’s nothing. Silu wants to try my cooking, so I plan to make one of her favorite dishes," Lu Fan said with a smile.

Jiang Yixia was surprised. She hadn’t expected her daughter to get so close with her father.

A flicker of gratification warmed her at the thought.

’Even though I won’t forgive this guy for now...’

’But the kids are innocent. If they can forgive him, maybe this bastard could actually be a big help to our two kids as they grow up.’

"Do you even know how to cook?" Jiang Yixia asked, her voice laced with skepticism.

"Nope. That’s why I’m learning now," Lu Fan chuckled.

After a moment, Jiang Yixia finally answered, "Her favorite is sweet and sour pork."

"Is it difficult?"

"Not for me," Jiang Yixia explained.

Lu Fan sounded pleased. "Okay, then. I’ll give it a try."

"Why would she suddenly want to eat something you cooked?" Jiang Yixia knew her daughter; she wouldn’t normally ask for something like that.

Lu Fan hadn’t wanted to tell Jiang Yixia, lest he make her worry.

But figuring she would find out sooner or later, he explained, "Silu has a high fever and is resting in her hospital room. I asked what she wanted to eat. At first, she said she didn’t want anything, but then she said she wanted to taste my cooking. Of course, I couldn’t just say I don’t know how, so I have to learn on the fly."

At his words, Jiang Yixia’s voice grew tense. "What did you say? Is it serious?"

"She’s okay. It’s just the flu. She pulled some all-nighters drawing recently and didn’t get enough rest," Lu Fan reassured her. "Don’t worry. As long as I’m here, nothing will happen."

Jiang Yixia didn’t want to admit it, but she knew Lu Fan was right.

With him by Jiang Silu’s side, she did feel much more at ease.

Given the situation, Jiang Yixia added a few more words. "Besides sweet and sour pork, she also likes scrambled eggs with tomato. If you can’t manage the sweet and sour pork, just make the scrambled eggs with tomato."

"Okay. If I get stuck while I’m cooking later, I’ll video call you," Lu Fan suggested.

Jiang Yixia frowned. "In your dreams. I have things to do."

"Oh, come on," Lu Fan began to coax her. "You don’t want the first meal I ever cook for our daughter to completely shatter her ’perfect father’ image, do you? Especially not while she’s sick."

"You, a ’perfect father’..." Jiang Yixia grumbled under her breath.

In the end, she neither agreed to nor refused Lu Fan’s request.

They were adults, after all. And in Lu Fan’s book, a woman’s non-refusal was as good as a yes.

Soon, he arrived back at the manor.

Old Luo had already prepared a variety of ingredients in advance.

He looked at Lu Fan and said, "Boss, I’ve prepared ornate spiny lobster, Southeast Asian blood bird’s nest, platinum caviar..."

Lu Fan shook his head. "These ingredients aren’t right for Silu. She’s sick right now, so these would be bad for her. Besides, with my abilities, there’s no way I can learn to cook with such complex ingredients all at once."

He looked at Old Luo and said, "I need to make two dishes. One is scrambled eggs with tomato, and the other is sweet and sour pork."

"That’s easily arranged," Old Luo suggested. "I already have a master chef on hand who specializes in common household dishes. Shall I have him teach you?"

"No, that’s alright. Just get the ingredients ready. I’ll have Yixia teach me," Lu Fan answered.

Old Luo was rather surprised to hear that.

He hadn’t expected the Madam to be willing to teach Lu Fan how to cook.

It seemed the relationship between the Boss and the Madam had progressed even further.

Once all the ingredients were prepared, Lu Fan took out a kitchen knife and started chopping a tomato.

He then placed a video call to Jiang Yixia.

Jiang Yixia was busy with customers at the time, but she answered during a brief lull. She whispered, "First, chop the tomato... no, that’s not right. The pieces are too big."

Seeing this, Jiang Yixia started to grumble, "All these years and you still can’t even cook."

"Haha, you tried to get me to learn with you back in the day, but I never managed to pick it up," Lu Fan chuckled.

Hearing this, Jiang Yixia shot back with a sarcastic, "Hmph... So you’d already stopped caring even back then."

"It was mainly because I’m just not interested in this stuff," Lu Fan explained with a laugh.

"Then why are you cooking now?" Jiang Yixia demanded with a frown.

"Because our daughter wants to eat, of course."

Hearing this, Jiang Yixia turned away to attend to a customer.

She began to fume internally. ’Back then, I asked you to learn to cook, but you refused. Now you’re perfectly willing to learn for our daughter’s sake. Hmph! Bastard!’

She didn’t know why her mood had suddenly soured.

Perhaps it was jealousy.

She recalled how she had wanted to eat his cooking back then, but he couldn’t have cared less. Yet now, the moment their daughter expressed a desire, he was tripping over himself to make it happen.

But Jiang Yixia would never admit to that.

She would only tell herself that the bastard was the one who had made her angry.

Lu Fan, of course, had no idea that his last comment had ticked Jiang Yixia off.

After he finished chopping the tomato, he said into his phone, "Yixia, I’m done with the tomato. What’s next?"

But on the other end of the video call, Jiang Yixia was busy arranging roses, completely ignoring him.
