Children of a Lesser God
Chapter 651: Bone Chilling Treasure
No one could move, even though they tried to run. Even as the third man faced the rewards of the giant floating head, he tried his best to turn, but even though his body could still twist and turn, his feet seemed as though they were glued to the floor.
He had wished for loyalty from those around him by offering up his daughters legs after she ran off with her lover, screwing over her family that wished to use her in a political marriage. Once the head blinked, the man hit the ground and rolled, only coming to a stop after he was resting on his back. His arms and legs had been removed from what Laz could see although he didn’t know if anything else was missing.
’So now he will require people to take care of him every day if he wishes to live... I guess that’s sort of a loyalty, right?’ Laz thought to himself, finally catching on to what exactly this head was doing.
As for the forth guy wanting a huge penis? Well...
"Help... help me... AAAHHHHHH" The man screamed as he was suddenly being dragged by the monstrosity that was now attached at his pelvis. It was like a massive slug the size of a cow but without legs. And yet it was still able to move like a worm, crushing the man behind him every time it’s body ungulated in movement as it clearly wasn’t being controlled by him.
’Oh yeah... Jealous men and conquered women... if that thing catches them, it would squeeze them to death. As for the guys... maybe jealous was the wrong term. But seeing something like that would make them be thankful they didn’t have that problem,’ Laz thought to himself.
The robed figure was so distraught he grabbed at a dropped sword and sliced downwards, wanting to be rid of the fowl thing, only to find his hand stopped as his massive member turned back to look at him and in a stunningly human like gesture, shook it’s head.
The man was clearly now being controlled by his ’other head.’
When it came to the mayor, he had somehow managed to remove the restrictions holding his feet to the floor and was running towards the nearest exit, bloody foot prints leaving a trail on the cold stone floor. Just as he was about to reach a door though, his body stopped in place, turned, then made it’s way back to the dais. Watching him move though almost made Laz’s head hurt as his arms and legs were stiff and there was a fierce look on his fight, like he was fighting something. Looking closer, it almost seemed like Laz was watching some sort of freak show where a full size human was being controlled by strings from a puppet master. While Laz had never actually watched a live one, just the ones he had seen on TV was enough to give him an idea on how puppets moved when controlled and this looked just like that.
"Back away more now... slowly," Laz said, directing everyone to keep going while he stood at the front. While he didn’t think he could block the vision of this thing, there was something hinting at the fact that this great and powerful being wasn’t able to focus on everything going on at once. While that seem weird, that was what Laz’s instincts were telling him.
"NO. PLEASE. I.... I’m SORRY. I DON’T WANT MY WISH. I’ll GIVE IT TO SOMEONE ELSE. ANYONE ELSE. JUST...."
Even as the mayor kept up his crying pleas, he arrived in front of the floating head and saw it blink.
’Even I’m at a loss as to how he could be granted the power of life and death in this realm...’ Laz thought, wondering just what kind of monstrous thing would be done to the man. His realm was only at the Void Lord stage which while strong for the realm, wasn’t anything in Laz’s eyes.
Looking on, Laz saw the older man’s body start to bloat and bubble as his face suddenly enlarged. Watching with wide eyes, the mayor became like a giant meat ball that seemed to be filled with air. Once he was completely and evenly round, Laz heard a small shriek.
"NO!"
The man’s body exploded outward, his flesh and everything else being blasted apart and spread all over the hall. Laz subconsciously raised his hand and put up a wall of the black flames so that he and the ones behind him wouldn’t be blasted with it as chunks of meat hit the barrier and began roasting, sending the smell of roasting meat all over the room. It was both tantalizing and disgusting at the same time.
When Laz finally let down the barrier of black flames, he looked over at the direction where the man used to be and saw that in the spot that the mayor once occupied now stood a sword. It was bone white with a red hilt and the guard looked like it was made of gold. It was long at almost five feet in length from the bottom of the hilt to the tip and it gave off this rather chilly feeling. Not cold per say but more like... bone chilling, as though it could freeze your soul.
’I guess something like that could decide the life and death of everyone in this realm,’ Laz said, thinking to himself that this weapon was unlike anything he had ever seen.
Not that he wanted it, mind you. A weapon forged from the body of a man just seemed a little too gross for Laz to comprehend.
’Still though... that blade.... and the hilt? It’s like a jewel in the snow...’ Laz thought, wanting to go over and touch it, even if just for a moment.
*STOP!* Kat yelled in his mind, waking him from the stupor he had fallen into.
"What?" Laz said, shaking his head.
"Why does my head hurt?"
*No time for that. You’ve got to stop them,* Kat responded, pointing to the ones who were going for the blade. Several civilians and members of his legion seemed to be drawn to it and were making their way over, even with the giant floating head right there.
Laz struck out, hitting both Two and Blake in the face so hard they fell backwards onto the hard stone floor.
"What the fuck was that for?" Blake asked.
"First?" Two said.
"You two ok again? Help me wake up the other’s," Laz indicated the ones still making their way for the blade.
"How are we suppose to... oh..." Blake said, noticing it was a lot easier to move now than it had been before.
The quickly moved to wake up those who had been caught by the allure of that weapon, knocking the hell out of anyone who resisted. Luckily it was aimed more at the legion members than the civilians as it seemed like it had a stronger pull to those who were stronger.
"Everybody out now," Laz called as the last of them woke.
"Do not make eye contact with the projection or I will kill you myself," Laz roared after getting a bit of advice from Kat.
Everyone quickly made their way to the exits, believing that Laz was telling the truth while he himself stared at the projection while it’s eyes were still lingering on the sword.
Once it became apparent that no one was going to grab it, the projection shot it’s head up to see the last of the prisoners make their escape.
"First. We are out. Get out of there," Two yelled, going up the stairs.
Laz started making his way to the stairs, his attention never diverting from the giant head.
*It needs to have a target, otherwise it will seek one out. I don’t know how much energy it has left, but it can’t be much. Still, if that thing were to get out into the world or get free, there is a chance it could cause an untold amount of chaos,* Kat had warned him. As such, Laz did as instructed.
*SPEAK!* It said, turning it’s attention to Laz who froze in place.
His body exploded in fury for some reason as he took on his Asura form, Kat’s armor manifesting around him in it’s metal embrace, appearing much like a famous super hero from his world suiting up.
"GO BACK!" Laz shouted, much to his surprise. It was like something within him was instinctually taking control.
The creature seemed perplexed after hearing Laz’s order and hesitated.
*Who are you?* It finally asked, it’s voice like nails on a chalk board.
"My name is Lazarus Crowe, blood descendent of the Asura. By the rights of the Dead Night Contract, you are to identify yourself and then leave this place."
’Dead Night Contract? What the hell?’
"The Dead Night Contract was only prevalent when the Asura ruled the Omniverse... Still... I suppose a contract is a contract. I am Grendaise, Offerings Director of the North Palace. I was surprised to receive such an old summons, but it turned out to be bugs scurrying around in places they shouldn’t. Still, a contract cannot be voided... Since I have intruded, take the relic as compromise. I await the day the Asura rise once again," the voice said, having given up the speech directly into Laz’s head.
In an exploding, outward flame, the projection vanished and with it, Laz’s consciousness. The mental strain of conversing with such a high level being was too much, causing Laz to pass out.
