Contract Marriage: Billionaire and His Deaf Wife
Chapter 1323: She Threatens Him (8)
He shouldn’t have saved her; from the beginning, he shouldn’t have saved her. If that were the case, things wouldn’t have come to this.
"Let me be honest with you, Professor Tang. Don’t talk about prison; I’m not even afraid of death. I wouldn’t hesitate to kill you now. She’s much more important to me than you are."
Heh. The sound that Tang Sili snorted through his nose was like a laugh, yet not quite a laugh.
Zhao Mengjin stared coldly at his seemingly mocking expression: "What are you laughing at? Do you think I’m just joking?"
"No," Tang Sili said, "I don’t think you’re joking. You’re not saying a single word in jest. I absolutely have the judgment to know that. After all, someone like me has seen plenty of lunatics."
"Are you saying I’m a lunatic?"
"You’re just a calm lunatic, but you’re clearly misunderstanding. I’ve already told you, all your tactics against me are in vain. I ask you, does killing me serve any purpose?"
"I know you’re afraid of dying!"
"Yes, I’m afraid of dying." Tang Sili shrugged, as if the scissors pressed against his neck were merely a child’s toy.
Zhao Mengjin’s eyes gleamed: "You just said you’re afraid of dying—"
"That’s right. You’re not wrong. But you’ve forgotten the most crucial thing; the reason I’m not afraid of being threatened by anyone is because they all need me, they need me to save their lives."
This man, the reason he’s so cunning and strong, is entirely because of his inflated self-confidence that surpasses the world.
Zhao Mengjin’s lips curled into a cold smile: "Do you think you’re the only renowned doctor in the world? Sorry, I heard there’s someone whose medical skills are almost on par with yours. Last time, he was the one who saved my aunt."
Tang Sili sighed at this: "It seems either my naive, talkative student told you, or your extremely clever little mind always imagines things."
"Are you saying I’m imagining things, fantasizing?!"
"You must not forget. Those two, one is her biological brother, and the other has been like a brother to her since childhood, closer than blood. From my experience as a doctor in this field, just these two identities alone inevitably mean they will lose in front of her." Tang Sili’s fingers leisurely touched his own lips, watching as the hand holding the scissors grew weaker, inadvertently moving the scissors away from his neck, he smiled, "Ultimately, the one who can do it, is only me. No one can kill me."
Zhao Mengjin seemed to shiver at his words. Her two slender shoulders trembled, then, she retracted the hand holding the scissors and suddenly, with lightning speed, lifted it, and in an instant, the scissors were pressed against her own neck.
This scene happened so abruptly and unexpectedly that a flicker of surprise crossed Tang Sili’s eyes before he jumped up from the chair.
"What are you trying to do!"
His voice changed, becoming unlike any other time she had heard it. She finally heard him sound like an ordinary person, anxious and tense; perhaps it was her illusion, but he seemed a bit worried.
Zhao Mengjin’s lips curled, and before his hand could reach out to snatch her scissors, she quickly retreated, saying: "Don’t come any closer, or I’ll cut myself first."
Tang Sili’s hand paused, and then a wave of anger erupted on his usually gentle face: "Put it down! Do you think this will threaten me?"
"Who knows?" Zhao Mengjin chuckled slyly. The way he looked now, before her, was too satisfying for her to watch. Regardless of his reason for such worry and anxiety, there was no doubt that she finally grasped his weakness.
