Contract Marriage: Billionaire and His Deaf Wife
Chapter 1325: Mother’s Keepsake (1)
Xiao Shuzhu sat by her husband’s sickbed, while their two children, due to exhaustion, had fallen asleep on the room’s sofa.
Standing to one side, Xiao Shuju yawned. Knowing it was useless to persuade her, she walked away, looking for a place to sleep.
Just then, Xiao Shuzhu suddenly spoke: "Third Sister, have you discovered something?"
Xiao Shuju turned her head back and said, "You should accompany your husband first. We can talk later."
"I have something I want to show you, Third Sister." Xiao Shuzhu turned around, her expression serious.
Xiao Shuju was taken aback.
Xiao Shuzhu stood up and led Xiao Shuju around the big house.
Xiao Shuju looked around and said, "To be honest, it feels like I’ve never been to this place."
Xiao Shuzhu smiled wryly, "That’s natural. The only one who’s probably been here is our eldest sister, because her husband’s family is also in the United States. Second Sister and Third Sister both live in the same country; it’s impossible for them to make a special trip all the way here. Besides, Minxuan doesn’t like having guests."
"I must say, your husband is quite an odd person." Seeing they were alone, just the two sisters, Xiao Shuju spoke frankly, "He seems to really like you, but why does he do things that are detrimental to our family?"
Surely Zhu Minxuan had done something detrimental to their family, otherwise, how could he be associated with those bad people, only for Xiao Shuzhu to stumble upon it?
Xiao Shuzhu blinked her eyes, seemingly no longer thinking that way, and said, "We’ll speak again when he wakes up."
Hearing there might be something else behind this, Xiao Shuju raised an eyebrow and asked, "You’re showing me something and not telling Yebai?" 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
"Yebai probably wouldn’t care about this thing."
"Why do you say that?"
"Dad gave it to me, not something Mom left me."
"You mean something Dad gave you?" Xiao Shuju seemed puzzled, asking, "What did Dad give you that I haven’t heard of?"
"Dowry, just like everyone else."
Reflecting on her own dowry from this statement, Xiao Shuju thought for a long time but couldn’t remember any rare items.
Entering a room that looked like storage, Xiao Shuzhu opened a cabinet containing a painting.
At first, Xiao Shuju exclaimed, "Why are you hiding the painting here? Shouldn’t a painting be hung up? Storing it here will make it mold, won’t it? Plus, if this painting is valuable, it shouldn’t be piled here; this clearly isn’t a place for preserving paintings."
Xiao Shuzhu quietly waited until the usual frantic Xiao Shuju finished her outburst.
And indeed, it wasn’t long before Xiao Shuju’s train of thought took a turn, suddenly freezing in place, feeling incredulous: "My god, are you saying—are you saying this painting might have hidden secrets, so you deliberately placed it here? I must say, Fourth Sister, your cunning is truly more impressive than Second Sister’s!"
"Third Sister," Xiao Shuzhu smiled helplessly, "What do you mean I’m more impressive than Second Sister."
"Yes, I know you’re straightforward, at least without Second Sister’s ambition. Otherwise, you’d have made a move long ago, right?" Xiao Shuju said as she eagerly approached the painting covered in plastic. She lifted the plastic sheet from the painting, only to see a landscape painting.
