Contract Marriage: Billionaire and His Deaf Wife
Chapter 1330: Mother’s Keepsake (6)
Gu Nuan nodded. "I know."
"Doctor Ou." Someone came to the door and called, "Mr. Zhu is awake."
"Okay, I’ll be right there." When Ou Yanan put away his stethoscope and slipped it into his coat pocket, he realized the two little monkeys were staring at him without blinking. So he reached his hand out and patted both his little nephews on the head, soothing them, "It’s all good now."
Lingxin’s little face wore the same solemn expression as always.
The second monkey, however, had had his eyes on the stethoscope in his uncle’s pocket the entire time.
Ou Yanan couldn’t help but laugh and said to the second monkey, "This isn’t something you can eat."
"I know." The second monkey puffed out his cheeks, wanting to say he wasn’t that stupid.
Since the call sounded urgent, Ou Yanan packed up his things and turned to leave to go check on Zhu Minxuan.
Once the person who’d come to fetch him left, Xiao Shuju’s somewhat sneaky figure slipped into Gu Nuan’s room.
"Third Auntie, what are you holding?" The sharp-eyed second monkey was the first to ask.
Xiao Shuju let out a "ha ha" and laughed. "It’s not food."
A string of black lines seemed to burst across Little Mingli’s little forehead. Of course he knew it wasn’t food! Why did everyone think all he cared about was eating!
He wasn’t a little pig!
Xiao Shuju didn’t bother looking at the second monkey’s expression. She walked over to her younger brother, who was busy making milk and adding sugar for his hungry wife, and said, "I’ve got something to show you."
"What is it?" Yebai was focused on fixing something to eat for his hungry wife and didn’t take anything else to heart. Besides, what could that airheaded third sibling possibly come up with that was worth a look? At most she’d put on a few wigs to make the kids laugh.
"You’ll definitely be interested in this." Xiao Shuju insisted through clenched teeth.
Yebai finished making the milk, carried it over to his wife, and blew on the rim of the cup. "It’s hot, be careful."
Gu Nuan had him set the milk aside and said, "Third Sister’s hand isn’t convenient. Help her hold it."
Yebai remembered that the injury on his third sister’s shoulder hadn’t healed yet, so he followed his wife’s instructions, put the milk down to cool, and reached his hand out toward Xiao Shuju. "Come on, let my wife see what good stuff you’ve got there."
"It’s Fourth Sister’s." As she said this, Xiao Shuju had already carefully closed the door.
Seeing how mysteriously Third Sister was acting, both Xiao Yebai and Gu Nuan couldn’t help feeling a bit suspicious.
Before pulling off the plastic cover, Xiao Yebai felt around it and asked in confusion, "A painting?"
"Yes." Xiao Shuju nodded.
"So you guys got a painting—where’d you buy it, which famous artist painted it—and you’re planning to give it to my wife as a birthday present. Let me tell you, her birthday isn’t here yet. And if you’re giving her a birthday present, you have to show it to me first. You can’t give her anything more expensive than mine." Yebai rambled on and on, every sentence revolving around his wife.
Gu Nuan couldn’t listen to it anymore. She reached out and thumped his shoulder: If you’ve got nothing to say, don’t drag me into it.
Yebai curled his lip. Apart from his wife, no one else in this world understood him that well.
