Cosmic Paragon

What had looked like a plain and simple arrow had tuned into a missile.

This was the special ability of Fire element magic power, explosive and destructive.

Fire power was one of the new elements Drake had gotten from his fight with Julia, along with Shadow power.

After reading and learning over a hundred magic skills from the library in Alpha academy, Drake had already gotten the general idea behind how spells were made and how they worked.

Now Drake no longer needed to go back, and learn any more skills. He was capable of making his own skills on the spot.

The exploding arrow he just used was a skill that relied on using the exploding properties of the fire element to concentrate fire element energy into his arrow and allow it to detonate upon contact with the target.

Magic energy does not immediately disperse into the environment when it is infused into objects, it takes some time. So, while he could not control magic energy that has left contact with his body, Drake could still use the arrows as weapons. This was what Drake was taking advantage of by using exploding arrows.

Thanks to this method of applying his magic power with his archery, each arrow fired by Drake using his fire power are no longer just simple arrows, but armed missiles. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

The impact of the arrow against his shield caused a slight jolt to travel through Baker’s arms.

Once the flames faded away, Baker roared loudly and charged forward. Baker was a heavy soldier specialized in defense, but that did not mean he did not have any attack methods.

Fire power? I thought that he had Space power what’s going on? a surprised shout sounded in the stands.

A few people who had seen Paragons previous fight were also confused by the sudden display of fire affinity.

However someone just waved dismissively. It doesn’t matter! That little bit of power will not be enough, if he wants to defeat Baker. Baker is not just some ordinary Shield Guard; he’s a veteran that has been in many fights.

The audience watched from the stands, as Baker began his charge. Many people were filled with anticipation that as long as Baker got close to Paragon, it would be over.

A few of them shook their heads however at the sight.

Paragon has just wasted a chance by exposing his fire power; it would have been a trump card that he could used to surprise his opponent.

At the end of the day, it seems like he’s still inexperienced. somebody sighed.

Baker charged at him. However, just as he took a few steps, Paragon’s arms blurred for a second.

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!

Baker was suddenly forced back by the sudden rapid impact against his shield.

Upon raising his head, his eyes narrowed and his expression turned solemn, right in front of him was an arrow, followed by another right behind it another, then another, and another...

It was a string of arrows arranged all set to hit one after the other. And with how close they were behind each other, they would give him no time to recover before the next one hit.

Baker roared, and magic power gushed into his shield as he dug his feet into the ground.

However, just as Baker braced himself for impact, he noticed an abrupt flash of light in the corner of his eye.

It was a curve shot arrow and from its current trajectory, Baker deduced that it was aimed to pierce into the gap where his helmet was not covering. It would pierce right into his neck, if he remained in his stance.

Bakers face changed, and he hastily raised his left arm; swinging the shield held to his hand, smashing the incoming arrow into bits.

BANG!

He let out a breath of relief, and then he snorted. ’That arrow was the hidden killer move, if I had not noticed it I would have lost without even knowing how.’ Baker thought.

He had been a bit dismissive of the bow and arrow, since him being a Shield Guard countered the archer profession. But now he knew he was up against an expert archer. Now, he no longer dared to let his guard down.

This guy is really sinister. He used the other arrows as a diversion to draw away Bakers attention towards the front while he fired a curve shot to hit Baker from the side. If Baker had remained in his stance the arrow would have pierced straight into the unprotected part of his neck.

He must be a veteran archer that has a lot of battle experience. Otherwise that level of prediction ability, as well as his accuracy in aiming for that point would not be possible.

Several people also nodded, acknowledging the skill behind Paragon’s tactic. However, while some acknowledged Paragon, even more were filled with dissatisfaction.

One of them protested stubbornly. What are all of you yapping on about? There’s no way Baker would fall for such a beginner level trick!

Another supported him. That’s right, that’s right! Didn’t Baker just foil that plan easily?"

The true experts just ignored these ignorant fools that just support and oppose without knowing what they were even saying. They have never even been on the battlefield before. So there is no way you could expect them to understand the intricacies of tactics in the battlefield.

Baker’s eyes flashed as he thought. ’To pull off such a well calculated and accurately aimed curved shot is an amazing feat. But it must have taken a lot of focus that means you probably did not put lot of effort into these other arrows. In short they are just the smoke screen to cover up the curved arrow. I see right through you.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

The string of arrows barreled against Baker’s shield and he grinned at his own foresight. Suddenly his face changed and the next second, a terrifying explosion resounded through the battlefield.

BOOM!

There was a look of pure disbelief on Baker’s face as his gaze swept over his right shield.

It was shattered!

My shield was shattered? How come? Baker was dumbstruck. However, while he was still stunned, another arrow flashed through the floating pieces of the shattered shield heading straight for Baker’s head.

Baker was startled by the sudden appearance of the arrow. However he was still a veteran that had been in many battles, so he was not so easily defeated.

Baker quickly bent his head to the side allowing the arrow to pass right by the side of his face. The sharp wind from the arrow caused a stinging pain on his face.

Baker’s face changed abruptly as he noticed something. But it was too late, and his head jerked back as blood sprayed from his eye.

The audience stared in silence. Nobody understood what was going on.

They had all clearly seen Baker dodge the arrow, so why did he suddenly die? What had killed him?

Paragon’s voice resounded shortly after.

’Shadow Power: Hidden Arrow!’

This was what Drake had used to kill Baker.

Shadow arrow was an ability Drake had come up with after pondering over the Special Blade Dancer skill Julia had used against him in his first battle. ’Blooming Blood Lotus!’

Just as the ’Blooming Blood Lotus’ relied on using the shadow of her sword to create Shadow sword lights. Drake had also created a single shadow arrow, and merged it into the shadow of the arrow he had shot at Baker.

At that last moment Baker had successfully evaded the true arrow, but then the shadow arrow had emerged at that last instant thanks to the light caused by the explosions. And since the shadow arrow had appeared right on his face Baker had been unable to dodge, so he had died.

The Audience were startled by the sudden voice. But it was only now that they finally noticed that there was something sticking out from inside Baker’s eye socket.

It looked like a pitch black arrow that was rapidly fading away.

Someone exclaimed, That’s Shadow power! Paragon has Shadow power.

No, he clearly used fire power just a few seconds ago with the exploding arrows. Paragon is a Fire mage!

That’s impossible! It was proven just the other day that Paragon is a mage with space affinity.

Well I’m not going to argue with you, but what do you call that? That is clearly Shadow power formed into an arrow. "

Shut up all of you! Somebody finally shouted. He couldn’t take it anymore. All of you are correct. It’s true that Paragon was proven to possess Space affinity since he teleported just yesterday. But as we can all see Paragon has shown that he also posses both Fire affinity as well as Shadow power. This proves that Paragon has a power that allows him to control more than one elemental affinity.

Everyone finally shut up and nodded in agreement.

One of them suddenly pointed out. But wait we’re missing something. Why did Baker’s shield explode for no reason, all of a sudden?"

They all watched the replay of the fight. That was when the mystery was revealed.

As they watched the replay, the audience saw how Paragon fired three sets of arrow. The first set of arrows was a string of five arrows that everybody had seen clearly from the get go. The second was that single curved shot that Baker had taken care of.

As for the final set, it was a set of about a dozen arrows.
