Cosmic Patron System: 100X Return on Every Reward
Chapter 56 - 0 | A Devastated Brother
The cab screeched to halt as Reyansh shouted, "WHAT!"
"What happened brother?" The driver asked, looking back only to find Reyansh looking drained of color, like someone sucked his soul out.
He didn’t speak any further and parked the cab to side, waiting for his response.
Meanwhile, Reyansh felt like all his happiness was flushed down the drain as he received the news.
"Hello...Hello...Reyansh," Principal called multiple times.
When he didn’t respond even after that, she continued anyway.
"As I said, she is not in any danger, you can take a breath. I am sending you the hospital’s address, come here as soon as possible." She spoke.
Reyansh wasn’t in the state to respond, he just ended the call. A second later, he received a message.
He tossed his phone ahead, "I have to reach that address in like two minutes. I don’t care about the rules you break, I will pay you a million credits, just take me there." He spoke but his eyes were focused elsewhere, he felt out of place.
Driver saw his reaction and guessed it was something bad, he didn’t said anything and looked at the address and pushed the accelerator to the full, ready to complete his demand.
Reyansh mind reeled, ’How? Why? Why now? What kind of accident she was in that she was admitted at hospital?’
His rational mind failed against the emotional surge, he felt like he wanted to tear the fabric of space itself and reach next to her immediately.
’Did I neglect anything? I had enough money on first or even second day. Should I have been more attentive to her?’ a line of questions plagued his mind.
It was the only thing he could do at the moment, if he were powerful enough, he would have really tried to tear the space apart.
His hand started shaking just by thinking possible state of her sister. The hands that didn’t even flinched at monsters twice his size were vibrating like he was 99 years old.
’And why is she there? She must have received news when I was in dungeon. But why would a principal come in simple road accident?’ he questioned her presence.
’Did someone hurt her enough to put her in hospital?’ just as this thought crossed his mind, his blood suddenly started boiling, his brows tensed, his muscles coiled tighter, like his body was preparing to fight.
"Broth-Brother please calm down, I am having trouble driving," the driver struggling voice broke Reyansh focused state as cab slowed down a bit.
He had unconsciously started radiating such pure and menacing killing intent that driver felt suffocated. The driver gasped as he focused back on driving again, without mentioning anything.
’Was there some type of dungeon break?’ his mind proposed another hypothesis.
He immediately opened his phone, checking the website for any news of dungeon break near her school to near their house but there was no such mention.
His system panel started popping up as notification of subscribers started appearing but he flatly ignored them.
All the joy of completing 8 hour dungeon run, 1000+ viewers or his talent evolution, everything had become a silent note in his voice less world.
His mind failed to come up with any reasonable ideas as to why his sister suddenly ended up in a hospital.
As seconds passed and the news started settling in, he felt a knot in his stomach, like his sister had gone through something life changing and he should be there for her.
While he remained lost in thoughts, almost detached from the real world. A shout from his driver brought his attention back to real world.
"We are here...we have reached the hospital," the driver shouted.
The word hospital acted as trigger as Reyansh looked through the window to find the cab stopped near the gate. He immediately got out and rushed inwards.
For a moment, the driver thought for asking about his money, but he stopped before saying anything.
’The news must be something devastating for him to act like that and I have a signed contract, so I don’t have to worry.’ The driver reasoned as he watched Reyansh rushing into the main building.
"Where is patient, Vanya Kaul, I am her brother?" Reyansh asked at the main counter. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
The clerk at the counter checked their files and answered, "2nd floor, room 8."
The moment clerk finished speaking, he was already stepping towards the stairs.
As he rushed towards the mentioned room, there was only one thing in his mind at the moment, ’Please be alright, Please...’
The moment he saw room 8, he barged in like the gate itself was actively stopping him from meeting his sister.
Just as he entered, his eyes fell upon his sister laying on the hospital bed. He rushed immediately, ignoring Miss Arpita seated beside her or Luna in invisible state.
"Vanya...are you okay?" he rushed to her side as he caressed her head.
At that moment, he finally noticed the bruise on her cheeks, the dried blood on her lips. Suddenly, his demeanour turned calm, extremely calm.
Arpita noticed all this, she wanted to intervene but was hesitant as to what would she say to him because there were no right words for moments like this.
Reyansh calmly checked his sister for other wounds and lava started bubbling beneath than silence.
He noticed her broken hand, abrasion on her knuckles, scratches on her knee, her dress torn from multiple places.
His eyes teared up as he finally noticed the state of his sister, her breathing and state of her body also conveyed that she was unconscious at the moment.
Arpita was readying herself for his outrage after change in his body language started relaxing thinking it won’t happen.
At that moment, out of nowhere, a raw guttural scream reached Arpita and Luna’s ear.
"Who hurt my sister?"
"WHO THE FUCK HURT MY LITTLE SISTER?"
If earlier in the cab he was radiating killing intent then at the moment, he had became a beacon of death. Even Arpita and Luna, having a decent of fights before felt their spine tingling.
’Not good,’ Arpita thought but before she could think any further, Reyansh suddenly turned his head to her, his eyes were blood red mixed with tears.
"Speak," he commanded, there was no respect or consideration for her position as a principal, at that moment she was nothing more than source of information for him.
Arpita swallowed her saliva as she decided to speak, "Calm down, Reyansh, let’s take a deep breath and..."
He cut her before she could complete, "I am calm Miss Arpita, I am calmer than a still lake at the moment. If you can’t answer then I hope that cat on your shoulder can."
This brought a reaction from Arpita and Luna both.
"You can see her?" Arpita questioned, till now, only hunters with higher core rank than her could sense Luna presence but here he was seeing through it easily.
Luna deactivated her invisibility cloak and she jumped from Arpita’s shoulder to the ground, "I am sorry for what happened to your sister. We will provide all the help we can."
This words caused him to remain silent for a moment, not accepting anything but also not outright rejecting.
’Thanks, Luna,’ Arpita conveyed mentally.
"Firstly, your sister is unconscious but there were no life-threatening injury. She was given a common rank potion and basic healing just as she arrived." Arpita finally spoke, starting with news about Vanya.
Reyansh remained silent, signalling to go ahead.
"Second, there was an attempt to kidnap her but she fought off her kidnappers bravely, preventing the kidnappers from escaping with her."
This brought a reaction from him, the air become extremely chill like the death itself was there.
Reyansh turned towards his sister again, tears falling from his eyes as he patted her head.
"I am sorry Vanu, your brother wasn’t there to protect you. Don’t worry your brother is here now, even death would have fight me to take you from me." He declared as he kissed her forehead.
He turned towards Arpita again, "Who and where are the kidnappers?" he asked in a voice so chilling that even Arpita flinched.
