Chapter 1116 - 125: Compromise Under Inducement
When the Leray Battleship appeared behind the Hanfrey Fleet, the previously silent asteroid belt was like water poured onto a sizzling pan. The entire airspace instantly turned chaotic.
"God!"
In the corridor, a Feiyang staff officer holding a folder stopped in his tracks, his mouth half open as he stared dazedly out the huge porthole on the right side of the corridor.
"Captain! Look quickly!"
An observer turned his head and shouted loudly at his ship captain. The captain, who was working at the simulation console, raised his head, and his sharp eyes turned blank and scattered. Even the electronic pen tucked behind his ear fell onto the console, without eliciting any feeling from him.
"Mark... what is that?"
A female lieutenant who had just walked into the cafΓ©, upon sitting down at a window-side seat, let out a shout of surprise. Her Major boyfriend, who gallantly pulled out the chair for her, took just one glance before striding over to a larger porthole with a better view on the other side of the cafΓ©, joining other officers who had moved at the sound, staring wide-eyed outside.
In the tranquil starry sky, several brand-new warships silently completed their warp, appearing in the void not far outside the asteroid belt near the Hanfrey Fleet.
The light of the Constant Star shone on the streamlined hulls of these hundreds of large and small warships, as if cloaking them in golden armor.
They flew at high speed silently against the eternal black cosmic backdrop, with a partly dim, partly bright yellow-brown planet in the distance, and further away, a nebula like white gauze, adding boundless beauty to the scene. They dashed through the golden light, like Holy Knights emerging from the magnificent dawn on the horizon of a vast wilderness!
At this moment, each warship was in an uproar. Everyone rushed to the portholes.
"Leray! That's the Leray Fleet!" A restaurant chef waved his knife, unable to contain his excitement.
"What are these warships, how come we haven't seen them? They're all brand new, good heavens, look at the caliber of their Energy Cannons." A Feiyang mechanic soldier almost pressed his whole face against the porthole.
"Beautiful warships. It's Leray people, no doubt about it, look at their bow insignia." The mechanic soldier's companion called out, while struggling under the shoulder pressure from other companions.
More people rushed into the battle readiness rooms, corridors, and assembly halls, wherever there were long-range viewer screens.
On the screens, the distant Leray Battleships became increasingly clear. Meanwhile, the Binart Fleet, closer to them, was in utter chaos below their watchful eyes. π§πππππ«π·π€πΏππ‘.ππ€πΆ
Through the long-range viewer, they could even see groups of people running frantically inside the brightly lit Binart Battleships' portholes, the rotating, flashing alarm lights in the corridors, and the previously orderly Binart Fleet turning chaotic as many warships instinctively changed course upon the appearance of the Leray Battleships.
No intelligent analysis or advanced military knowledge was needed; even the excited, trembling chef with a kitchen knife knew that the Hanfrey Fleet was doomed.
The suddenly appearing Leray Fleet entirely cut off their retreat. The Hanfrey Fleet, after ending the battle, maintained a scattered formation to avoid intense reactions from Feiyang, but now, sandwiched between Leray and Feiyang fleets, any move would face a destructive strike from both fleets.
If before they could rely on numerical advantage to fiercely fight the Feiyang Fleet, now they were like fish gasping on a chopping board!
In Athena's carrier command room, Claudia stood beside Dougla, shock filling her beautiful face: "Leray Fleet... wasn't their main force already..."
"All newly designed warships," Dougla issued a long sigh: "If my guess is correct, this is Leray Federation's final force. They resisted the Western Alliance alone for three full years, losing thirty million soldiers in battle. To think they still preserved a bloodline for their nation till the end. If true, I can only say..."
Dougla's voice was deep, filled with boundless admiration: "This is a nation worthy of every Feiyang person's respect."
"For so long, where were they hiding?" Claudia stared fixatedly at the beautifully designed Leray Battleships, muttering: "How did they appear here?"
"Wasn't Major General Tian Xingjian asking for two and a half hours from me?" Dougla's face showed a trace of relieved and appreciative smile: "If I'm not mistaken, having captured Hanfrey, he planned more than just buying a little time or safely concluding this battle."
"You mean..." Claudia quickly lifted her head: "He aims to devour the entire Hanfrey Fleet?!"
"Any other explanation?" Dougla looked back at the equally shocked senior officers of the Nineteen Group Fleet: "If anyone else had such a thought, I would find it ridiculous, but given his thinking, I'm not surprised at all. You can never match his mind. Hanfrey likely has very few choices left!"
