Chapter 359: Chapter 321: The Nolun Wizard and the Purification Protocol (Double-Length)

As the last trophy tainted with the Triangular Plane’s aura was discarded, a brief silence descended upon the battlefield.

The Wizard army and the two Seventh Level Wizards stood in place, gazing at the mountain of spoils before them, their expressions somewhat bewildered and dazed.

The rewards that once symbolized victory had now transformed into an ominous heap of garbage. This rapid reversal from ecstasy to horror required even the well-informed wizards some time to digest this astonishing change.

Only Dixon, through his perception of destiny, confirmed that the ominous cloud of misfortune rapidly descending upon the army had dissipated, and the thread of fate had returned to a steady, even slightly upward trajectory, finally breathed a sigh of relief.

He immediately communicated his recent discoveries and deductions through the Soul Link with Obelus and Melisande, who was far away on the Ship Plane.

Despite identifying the crisis stemming from those spoils, the exact cause and the nature of the force invisibly affecting their thoughts remained shrouded in mystery.

In the face of the unknown, the most prudent course of action was to wait.

Fortunately, the support efficiency of the High Tier Wizards was exceptionally high.

Only a few minutes later, Melisande, who had been keeping her nerves taut and monitoring the situation, suddenly heard a gentle and calm voice inquiring beside her:

"What happened here? To have activated the highest emergency signal."

Melisande felt a massive shock. With her perception as a Seventh Level Wizard, she had not perceived when the other person appeared!

She turned her head sharply and saw a middle-aged wizard wearing a simple gray robe, with an elegant demeanor and a gentle face, standing silently in the control room, looking at her with a hint of inquiry in his eyes.

Upon clearly seeing the person’s face, a look of disbelief erupted in Melisande’s eyes, which then transformed into absolute respect.

She immediately bowed and rapidly and clearly reported everything that had occurred—from the awakening of the Fungus Lord, to the main cannon strikes orchestrated by Melisande on the Ship Plane, to Dixon’s fate warning and the directive for the whole army to abandon the spoils.

The elegant wizard listened quietly, his face remaining calm and devoid of much expression, merely nodding slightly to indicate his understanding.

Soon after, his figure melted into the light and quietly vanished from the spot.

The precision instruments within the Ship Plane, capable of detecting space jumps and energy disturbances, showed no reaction, as if he had never appeared.

The next moment, in the skies of the broken Giant Spirit Realm, the space rippled slightly, and the elegant wizard’s figure appeared out of thin air beside Dixon and Obelus.

"Nolun Wizard sir!" Dixon and Obelus were equally taken aback upon seeing him, promptly collecting themselves and bowing their heads respectfully.

In their tone, the reverence was far beyond what they would show to someone of their own level.

With a mild smile, Nolun Wizard waved a hand, "No need for too much formality, I have a rough understanding of the situation now."

His gaze then turned to the battlefield below, especially focusing on the scattered remnants of the Fungus Lord.

He did not linger in the air but descended actively to the ground, squatting down, extending his long fingers, and gently touching a fragment of the Fungus Lord’s tissue that was still slightly wriggling.

His movements were gentle and attentive, as if listening to these dead objects whispering unknown secrets.

In the wizard army below, Jeming felt his heart skip a beat when he heard Dixon’s address for the suddenly appearing wizard.

"Nolun Wizard... sir?" A shocking thought quickly flashed through his mind.

For two Seventh Level Wizards to show such respect, his rank was unquestionable and must be an existence above the Seventh Level: an Eighth Level Wizard!

And the name "Nolun"...

Could it be that the person before them was the founder of Nolun Academy, the legendary Eighth Level Great Wizard, Nolun himself?!

Not just Jeming, but the wizards around couldn’t help but utter low exclamations, their eyes filled with excitement and reverence.

After all, most of the wizards in this Expeditionary Army had been recruited from the Boundary Point, a place initially created by the three major Wizard Influences of Nolun Workshop, Tower of Annihilation, and Chaos Secret.

Thus, the name of Nolun Wizard was well-known within the three major influences at the Boundary Point, especially for wizards from Nolun Academy, being a legendary existence known by all!

Nolun Wizard examined the scene carefully, then nodded thoughtfully and slowly stood up.

"I see." He murmured softly, then looked at the anxious Dixon, speaking in a calm tone, "I’ve figured out the reason. Fortunately, you reacted promptly, without bringing these ’spoils’ back to our civilized domain; otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable, and you likely would have been doomed."

Dixon eagerly questioned, "Lord Nolun, what exactly is going on? Wasn’t the Fungus Lord already annihilated by the main cannon under Melisande’s control?"

Nolun Wizard’s gaze swept over the many wizards below who were pricking up their ears and at Melisande observing through the Link. He did not withhold the information, clearly and concisely revealing the truth:

"What you destroyed was merely the material aggregation of the Fungus Lord on the physical level, but its ’main body’, or rather its ’essence’, has not been fundamentally affected."

"Main body?" Dixon frowned.

"Indeed." Nolun Wizard nodded, "This particular Fungus Lord is an unusual creature. It has not developed complex intelligence, but precisely because of this, it has stumbled upon an exceedingly rare evolutionary path, almost by sheer chance."
