Cultivating To Immortality
Chapter 632: Choosing a Main Peak
These eight hanging scrolls represent the eight main peaks of the Sect.
Excluding Demon Subduing Peak, which is formed by elite Disciples selected from various main peaks, and Guiyan Peak, a gathering place for Cultivators specializing in the four Dao of alchemy, formations, artifacts, and talismans.
The remaining six main peaks each have their own functions, and newly promoted Inner Sect Disciples can choose to join any one of them.
"Oh, right, I haven’t asked you, Junior Brother, before entering the Inner Sect, did you have a Senior you were familiar with to be your master?"
"Yes, Senior Qin Xijun of the Inner Sect."
Song Yan answered truthfully. The Disciple in charge was stunned for a moment, then nodded: "Elder Qin originally belonged to Lianyou Peak, but now that she has resigned from her Elder position, there’s no need to worry about the divisions between the peaks."
He swiped his fingertip with a spiritual glow, and the five main peaks available for him to choose slowly appeared as illusory images.
Various pieces of information entered his eyes.
Nodding, Song Yan looked at each one.
These five peaks each had their own unique strengths.
Among them, Ling Quan Peak had the most abundant Spiritual Qi, with various spiritual plants growing lushly. In terms of environment, he liked this place the most.
Zuowang Peak was prominent in Spell cultivation, and most of its Disciples specialized in Daoist arts and Spells.
"Wipe Sword Peak..."
Song Yan paused as he looked at this main peak.
He originally thought that all Disciples on the peak practiced sword control techniques, but upon closer inspection, he realized that this peak was originally used for sparring and competitions among the Sect’s Disciples.
However, throughout history, many battle-loving individuals would spar and compete here daily.
Many even simply took up residence here.
The Sect did not suppress such behavior; instead, in a certain year, this large peak was completely transformed into a main peak, with Inner Sect Elder Luo Bei serving as its Peak Master.
This peak had no other outstanding features, only one: the Disciples on the peak were all fierce and competitive, with a strong culture of sparring and competition.
However, precisely because of this, many of the Demon Subduing Peak Disciples selected every few years also came from Wipe Sword Peak.
He only glanced at Taiping Peak and Tongchen Peak, and after roughly understanding their respective characteristics, he decided they were not very suitable for him.
Ultimately, it came down to choosing between Ling Quan Peak and Wipe Sword Peak.
After much thought, Song Yan finally chose Wipe Sword Peak.
The reason was very simple: since establishing his Immortal Cave and planting his sword, he hadn’t comprehended even a sliver of Sword Intent, which was truly worrying.
In the past, Sword Cultivators were not uncommon, and comprehending some Sword Intent shouldn’t have been an insurmountable task.
If he were to look for the reason within himself, it might be because he had rarely engaged in combat with others before.
Those who cultivate the sword are mostly sharp and eager to win.
Perhaps the so-called Sword Intent can only be comprehended after countless battles and struggles.
Having made up his mind, he no longer hesitated: "Senior Brother, I choose Wipe Sword Peak."
The Senior Brother in charge nodded: "Follow me."
Passing through this area, they entered the interior of a large hall.
"Junior Brother, hand me that Disciple jade token from earlier, and then change into your Inner Sect robes."
"Alright."
The Disciple in charge took the jade token and found a spiritual seal of similar size on one of the nine small altars nearby.
He activated his spiritual power and gently stamped it onto the Disciple jade token.
Song Yan, meanwhile, followed his Senior Brother’s instructions and immediately changed into his Inner Sect robes.
He looked at himself in the Mirror of Dao Appearance nearby.
As expected of Inner Sect Disciple robes, as soon as he put them on, he gained a more ethereal temperament.
Compared to the gray robes of the Outer Sect, now with every gesture, he looked more like a young immortal.
The Senior Brother in charge took the jade token and handed it to him: "Junior Brother Song, your identity has changed. From today onwards, you are an Inner Sect Disciple of our Sect’s Wipe Sword Peak."
"Thank you, Senior Brother."
The Senior Brother in charge waved his hand and walked forward: "Originally, this matter of worshipping the Ancestral Master was cumbersome and complex."
"However, our Sect has not been established for long, and coupled with the Sect Leader’s request to simplify procedures, the process won’t be too troublesome."
Inside the Ancestral Master Hall.
Pushing the door open, what greeted them was a circular ramp-like corridor. Following his Senior Brother for half the ramp, they reached the main hall.
The interior here was also quite spacious, with rows of portraits hanging in the hall.
Even though his Senior Brother said it had been simplified, it was still relatively troublesome.
Burning incense, kneeling, offering incense, swearing an oath... "Senior Brother..."
After doing everything, looking at the portraits and stone tablets inscribed with life stories, Song Yan suddenly felt a bit strange.
He immediately quietly asked the Senior Brother in charge.
"Senior Brother, most of our Sect’s Ancestral Masters and Elders are still alive. Offering incense and worship..."
Song Yan didn’t finish his sentence. He wanted to ask if it was a bit inauspicious.
"It is a bit strange." The Senior Brother in charge chuckled and explained: "However, it’s merely a show of respect to the Seniors."
"Those are all the venerable Seniors who helped our Sect overcome difficulties during the early days of Cave Abyss Sect’s establishment."
"Not to mention our Sect Master is a Golden Core Cultivator. To those of us with lower cultivation levels..."
"He’s already like a deity."
Song Yan nodded and looked at the young portrait in the very center.
There were very few words inscribed next to it, just a short sentence.
Daoist Lijun, Founding Ancestral Master of Cave Abyss Sect. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
Thinking of those eight short words on New Year’s Eve, and the formless spiritual intent contained within them... "Is the Sect Master also a Sword Cultivator?"
He was lost in thought.
The spiritual incense burned out.
The Senior Brother in charge reminded him.
"Bow again!"
Song Yan bowed deeply... All matters handled, Song Yan walked out of the General Affairs Hall.
His mood was excellent at this moment.
The matter of the Immortal Cave would be communicated and arranged by the General Affairs Hall with Wipe Sword Peak. Once arranged, someone would notify him.
He didn’t need to worry about it.
It was said that in the past, the arrangement of Immortal Caves was solely managed by a certain Disciple of the General Affairs Hall.
Later, that person used this power to accept Spirit Stones.
He divided the Immortal Caves into different grades based on their geographical location and the density of Spiritual Qi, and then arranged them according to the amount of Spirit Stones given by the newly admitted Inner Sect Disciples.
However, the matter was quickly exposed, and later it was changed to random assignments by the Sect.
This should be very quick, at most half a day.
Finally promoted to Inner Sect, this good news, of course, had to be told to Granny Qin.
He arrived at the edge of Lingyuanze Market, at the same dilapidated small storefront.
"Granny Qin!"
Pushing the door open, Qin Xijun looked up at him with some annoyance: "Tsk, you brat, don’t you know any manners!"
"You never knock before coming in!"
"Eh?"
She suddenly let out a soft exclamation, her gaze falling on his Daoist robe.
"You... entered the Inner Sect?"
Song Yan chuckled and nodded: "Master, please accept a bow from your Disciple!"
"Hey, don’t rush."
Xiao Song was about to perform a grand bow, but Qin Xijun stopped him: "You haven’t prepared the tea for master’s respect yet?"
"Huh?"
He truly wasn’t clear about the apprenticeship rituals in this Immortal Sect.
"Apprenticeship isn’t a small matter. Everyone has their own set of rules for apprenticeship, understand?"
Qin Xijun’s smile was cunning: "Your master, me, I’m quite casual and don’t like elaborate formalities."
"If there’s no tea for master’s respect, then so be it."
"Good, good..."
Song Yan didn’t understand, he just nodded repeatedly.
Unexpectedly, Qin Xijun’s tone changed: "Then we’ll just have wine instead of tea!"
Thump.
Two jars of spiritual wine appeared on the altar.
Song Yan stood frozen.
Qin Xijun grinned: "On such a good day, you and I, master and Disciple, won’t go home until we’re drunk."
