Chapter 156: Chapter 155: Shopping with Sixth Brother

"Since I pay more, then I get to choose any fruit I want." Li Jingxuan suddenly turned around and said to his brother.

Li Juanxin frown: "You can’t do that. Besides, all we need has already been written on the list."

Li Jingxuan shook his head helpless: "Xin, why are you so narrow minded? How can all the things we need to make smoothies fit on such a small sheet of paper?"

That does make sense, Juanxin thought about it. There were tons of things that could be made into smoothies, the possibility is endless. But what they need for this evening is just those few things written on the list, which is enough.

Li Jingxuan looked at him with a serious face and sighed: "Forget it, let’s just buy what we can get. I already told you, if your allowance is not enough, I’ll add on it."

Jingxuan looked dejected. By the time they reached the fruit shop,most people had already left.

Li Juanxin smiled sweetly: "I said continue picking, I will soon be done."

"Oh, ok." Li Jingxuan replied absentmindedly.

He must have heard it wrong. How could Juanxin sound so cold?

Fluffy sat in Juanxin’s arms, watching the fruit with round eyes. These fruits were all good quality, but they were as good as the ones his master father planted. They were missing something, but he put his hands on it.

After the fruit was paid for and packed, the two boys turned to leave. That was when Jingxuan spotted a nearby summer drink stall. Several large jars sat on crushed ice, and cold mist rose around them. They were filled with many types of fruit juice.

Li Jingxuan looked at Juanxin with a smile in his eyes: "We worked hard enough today. We deserve a reward."

His tone was reasonable, but his logic was ridiculous. No matter how hard Juanxin thought, he couldn’t see any hard work that they had done.

Li Juanxin held the basket and looked uncertain: "We only came out to buy fruit."

"We are children, whatever task we complete deserves a reward."

Li Juanxin still looked unconvinced.

Li Jingxuan pointed at the stall: "It is hot, look how sweaty we are. We walked all the way here and spent our own allowance. I’m also carrying this heavy basket, believe it or not, I deserve a drink!"

Li Juanxin thought about it and thought hard. Although what his brother said was reasonable, the whole reason they came is to make similar drinks. If they could just buy the finished product, then what’s the point of coming here?

Li Juanxin looked at the eyes of one boy and fox and sighed. When he’s with his other brothers, he gets to be pampered and act spoiled. Why does he have to think so much with his sixth brother? It was so exhausting.

In the end, they each bought a drink. Jingxuan chose chilled plum spirit water. Juanxin and Fluffy chose a softer fruit nectar with crushed ice floating on top.

They were just about to head back when a woman and her son stepped in front of them.

The woman was well dressed; her outfit and lipstick were on point. With one glance, one can tell that she’s a noble lady. Her son looked to be around the same age as the Li brothers.

His eyes lit up as soon as landed on Fluffy. He tugged on his mother’s sleeve: "Mom, I want that fox. It’s so cute."

Juanxin immediately tightened his hold on Fluffy and took a step back.

The woman looked at Fluffy with interest, then smiled at the boys: "This little beast is quite cute. My son likes it very much. Name your price."

Juanxin shook his head: "Sorry miss, he is not for sale."

The woman’s smile did not change even though Juanxin refused her: "Little one, pets can always be replaced. If you sell him to us, I will pay generously."

"I want him, I want him." The boy refused to listen.

Juanxin hugged Fluffy closer: "I already said no. He’s not for sale."

The woman was even more shameless: "Don’t refuse too quickly. You do not look poor, so I assume your family has more beasts. There is no need to be so stubborn."

"Fluffy is not some stall item. He belongs to my brother." Li Jingxuan steps in front of his brother.

The boy looked at Juanxin angrily: "Why are you so selfish? I only want the fox."

Li Juanxin’s face became serious: "You’re the one who’s selfish. I already said he’s mine, why are you so insistent on buying him? If you want a fox that badly, then go to the beast market."

The woman did not seem pleased by Juanxin’s answer. In fact, the more she looked at the two children standing in front of her, the more impatience she became.

Her son rarely asked for things, that’s why she would make sure to buy him whatever he took interest in. In her mind, she knew that her actions were wrong but she wanted that fox for her son.

"Mother, I said I want it."

The woman nodded: "Yes, yes, Mother heard you."

Then she turned back to the brothers and smiled: "Children, there is no need to be difficult over a small beast. My son has taken a liking to it, and I am willing to pay properly. If you think the price is too low, I can pay higher. There is no reason to be this stubborn."

Juanxin tightened his arms around Fluffy and shook his head: "No matter how much money, Fluffy is not for sale."

The woman’s brows drew tightly together. It was obvious she was reaching her limit.

Her son, on the other hand, had already lost patience. He stepped closer and tried to grab Fluffy: "Why are you so mean? You can just get another one."

Li Jingxuan blocked his path: "Why don’t you get another one yourself?"

The woman’s expression also changed completely, when her son was pushed away.

"What kind of upbringing is this? Is this how your family teaches you to speak to elders?"

The two children didn’t respond. They stood together with one protecting the other.

The woman saw their movement and her eyes grew colder: "You two should think carefully," she said. "I have already offered to buy it. That is already giving you face. If my son likes this fox, then it will naturally live a better life with him than in the hands of some street children."

Li Juanxin sneered: "We are not from the street. You speak too rudely for an adult! It’s adults like you that make us children sick!"

Li Jingxuan was stunned, but still gave his brother a thumbs up.

The woman’s face heated up in embarrassment. At this point, even some of the nearby stall owners had begun watching openly.

The boy reached out suddenly, trying to grab Fluffy straight from Juanxin’s arms. Li Jingxuan reacted quickly and pushed him away again.

"What are you doing?" he shouted.

The woman did not stop her son. Instead, she stepped forward too, as if she truly intended to force the matter no matter what.
