Cultivation: I Have a Golden Talisman
Chapter 187 - 12: Wine Does Not Intoxicate; Man Intoxicates Himself (Part 3)
These figures were all great masters of the Dharma Realm, unparalleled existences throughout the East Cyan Domain.
As they spoke, Third Lady eventually said, "Speaking of the unparalleled, there is one other person who must be mentioned."
Fang Cheng asked, "And who might this be, to be mentioned in the same breath as the others?"
Third Lady said, "That person’s real name is lost to history. In the legends, he is known by the two words ’Demon Buddha’... He was an Ascetic Practitioner, not belonging to any sect or clan. Very few in this world know his name."
Fang Cheng asked curiously, "Then how do you know of him?"
At night, Third Lady was now completely obedient to him. Hearing his question, she answered, "I once visited the place where a senior expert had fallen and saw his final words. The Demon Buddha was mentioned in them. The text was carved into a cliff face, and hidden between the lines was a saber technique. I have already cut out the entire section and placed it in the Earth Palace of the Scripture Pavilion."
’So that’s why,’ Fang Cheng realized. ’No wonder I could never find it. Only Cen San Niang herself can undo the restrictions on the Scripture Pavilion’s Earth Palace; no one else can get in.’
He coaxed her gently, getting Cen San Niang to tell him the story of the Demon Buddha.
The Demon Buddha was a figure from two thousand years ago.
This person was originally a Loose Cultivator who had received a Buddhist Path inheritance. He later immersed himself in the study of Buddhist Techniques, saw through the vanity of the mortal world, and joined the Empty Sect.
At first, his Cultivation was not profound, and he kept a low profile among the Loose Cultivators. Then, by a stroke of chance, several Outer Celestial Demons somehow broke through the Boundary Membrane and descended upon this world.
And he just so happened to encounter them!
With his Cultivation at the time, he should have been no match for these Outer Celestial Demons. But relying on the profound principles of Buddhist Technique, he forcibly converted these Celestial Demons, turning them into Guardians of Buddhism!
Having gained the power of his followers, the Demon Buddha’s wisdom seemed to mysteriously grow, and he personally developed a unique Magical Artifact.
This Magical Artifact could endlessly absorb the power offered by his Guardians, day and night. The more Guardians he had, the more powerful it became.
The Demon Buddha then converted many Demon Beasts, and his power grew accordingly. However, Demon Beasts were only strong in their vitality and physical bodies, no match for the endless versatility of the Celestial Demons. Thus, he continued to search for traces of Outer Celestial Demons.
Furthermore, he feared that if his path of conversion became known, it would be deemed a taboo by the world and bring a fatal disaster upon him. He therefore remained extremely low-key, living in seclusion and rarely interacting with his peers.
Eventually, after a secret investigation, he discovered that someone had suffered a cultivation deviation while practicing a Demon Skill. An Outer Celestial Demon had seized the opportunity to corrupt them, breaking through the Boundary Membrane’s barrier and allowing it to descend.
So, he sought out several Demon Path Cultivation Methods, took on a Disciple, and ordered him to practice them.
Demon Path Cultivation Methods easily attracted the prying attention of Celestial Demons. Without top-tier supplementary materials, forcibly practicing them made it extremely easy to suffer a cultivation deviation. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Unsurprisingly, the Disciple’s final fate was to be corrupted by demonic will, transforming into a Demon Fiend and luring a Celestial Demon to the Lower Realm.
The Demon Buddha then converted another batch of Celestial Demons.
From then on, the Demon Buddha embarked on a path of taking in disciples, teaching them Demon Skills, and converting the Celestial Demons they attracted to empower himself. His Cultivation skyrocketed, and he broke through to the Dharma Realm.
Among those Celestial Demons were some powerful beings who had awakened their intelligence. They possessed Lifebound Divine Techniques within them, which the Demon Buddha also obtained.
Several of the Demon Skills the Demon Buddha passed down, such as the Li Hen Demon Light, the Joyful Zen Skill, and the Blood God Pearl Technique, were all derived from these.
The more Celestial Demons the Demon Buddha converted, the more profound his wisdom became. He went on to create top-tier Buddha Demon techniques like the Dragon Elephant Demon Suppression Scripture, the Mahayana True Talisman, the Mita Spell, and the Great Sun True Fire Sword Technique, as well as Demon Path Cultivation Methods like the Celestial Demon Transformation and the Nine Heavens Cold Ice Technique.
Over time, this man achieved mastery in both the Demonic and Buddhist Paths, and so he came to be revered by his Disciples as the "Demon Buddha."
The Demon Buddha’s power was unfathomable. No one who ever fought him lived to tell the tale.
Therefore, very few people in the world knew of his existence.
The site of the fallen Cultivator that Cen San Niang had found belonged to one of the Demon Buddha’s disciples.
This Disciple had received the Demon Buddha’s Demon Path inheritance and reached a high level of Cultivation, but he couldn’t bear the loneliness of ascetic practice. He secretly snuck away from his master several times, but was eventually discovered and personally executed by the Demon Buddha.
One of his demonic avatars managed to flee far away. Unfortunately, once his true body died, the avatar could not escape its doom. So, before it perished, it carved the story of the Demon Buddha onto that sheer cliff.
