Daddy! Come Home for Dinner!
Chapter 775: How Could We Leave You Out
The little one just nestled on the wide sofa, watching as they left.
Like this, it looked somewhat pitiful and lonely.
As if about to be abandoned by them.
Yet stubbornly sitting there in silence, being incredibly obedient.
Zhao Gushen clicked his tongue and waved to the little one: "What are you dazing there for?"
These words, instead, left the little one stunned.
Looking at Zhao Gushen in slight bewilderment.
Zhao Gushen’s heart softened, yet he said: "Usually, you seem pretty clever. Why so foolish now?"
"How could something like this not include you?" Zhao Gushen said, waving to the little one, "Come here!"
The little one was both surprised and delighted, his big black eyes suddenly lit brightly.
He quickly jumped off the sofa and ran towards Zhao Gushen and Ye Fei.
Seeing him so happy, Ye Fei’s eyes warmed, barely holding back the tears that had gathered in her eyes.
In the moment the little one’s gaze changed, Ye Fei understood everything.
Just now, while discussing things with Zhao Gushen, they hadn’t noticed the little one’s reaction.
All along, though not deliberately hiding, Ye Fei and Zhao Gushen hadn’t publicly announced either.
There was a somewhat passive approach.
If seen, they’d admit it.
If not seen, they wouldn’t mention it.
Thus, the little one never truly became known to people either.
To put it more plainly, everyone was unaware of the little one’s existence.
Unaware the little one was Zhao Gushen’s son.
The little one was small yet always endured such grievances.
But he was obedient.
He didn’t actively speak out either.
Despite being young, the little one understood everything.
Due to previously living alone with Ye Fei.
The little one was far more sensitive and perceptive than peers his age.
He sensed the adults’ intentions—it wasn’t the right time to openly announce.
So, he too kept silent.
Until now, when Ye Fei and Zhao Gushen decided to go public.
The little one also thought they were only announcing their relationship.
He couldn’t be disclosed yet.
So, he didn’t follow.
He sat quietly there, without fuss, understanding his parents.
Even though he felt wronged.
Guessing the little one’s thoughts, Ye Fei felt uncomfortable.
Owed too much to this little one.
How could he be so understanding?
"We’re going public as a family; how could we leave you out?" Ye Fei pulled the little one over and said.
The little one excitedly grabbed Ye Fei’s hand, nodding vigorously.
Zhao Gushen reached out and held the little one’s other hand, and the three went to the study together.
Once they were out of sight, assumedly having entered the study.
The old lady sighed, lovingly said, "Xiao Mo is really so heart-wrenching. This child is clever but too clever—such a little one knows everything and yet is so sensible."
The old gentleman felt a dull ache in his heart too.
"Then let’s pamper him more." the old man said.
The old lady nodded.
At this moment, Chi Jingsi called.
"Mom, I just saw the online promotion. Why does it say the special New Year episode of the cooking competition changed last-minute to air tonight?" Chi Jingsi asked.
She and Zhao Dinghuan stayed here on New Year’s Eve, visited in the morning, and left home after dinner on the first night.
The old lady explained briefly.
"Right, Xiao Shen and Xiao Fei plan to go public today," the old lady said, "The two are currently in the study with Xiao Mo, planning to record a video for the official announcement."
Upon hearing this, Chi Jingsi promptly said: "We’ll head over then. Just in time to watch the show together tonight."
Watching shows during New Year needs a crowd to be lively.
After hanging up, Chi Jingsi quickly urged Zhao Dinghuan to come along.
On their way over, Zhao Gushen and Ye Fei were discussing what to say in the study.
Although they just needed to record a video and upload it.
Shooting a video isn’t a simple task either.
There are bound to be moments of verbal stumbling.
It’s not as if they were memorizing scripts—sometimes words didn’t come out right, or they stumbled over them.
Either retake, or edit after recording.
Especially since Zhao Gushen lacked experience, he’d certainly pause several times.
Ye Fei anticipated it would take a considerable amount of time.
Ye Fei first framed the shot, choosing a suitable angle.
She and Zhao Gushen then sat on the sofa in the study.
They roughly discussed the content, but since it wasn’t script memorization, they only discussed briefly without specifying word for word.
Just mentioned the general direction of what they wanted to say.
Then Ye Fei set the camera to video mode, turned it on, and sat down beside Zhao Gushen.
No fear of filming too much since it can still be edited.
Zhao Gushen cleared his throat.
He’d never shot like this before; it was a bit uncomfortable.
Ye Fei said: "I’ll start then."
"You’ve filmed me before and seen how I did it. Really, don’t think about feeling uncomfortable, just relax and say whatever comes naturally."
"Hmm... Just talk to the camera as if you’re talking to yourself." Ye Fei said.
"What if I stumble?" Zhao Gushen asked.
"I can edit afterwards, remove the parts where you stumble. If you feel it’s not smooth, redo it; I’ll edit out the unsmooth parts, simple as that, no need to worry."
"Just say whatever you want." Ye Fei said.
"I might be used to it; it feels more comfortable than being interviewed. Worst case, pretend the camera is a person."
"How to pretend?" Zhao Gushen chuckled, "It’s okay, I think I can do it."
"Then... ready?" Ye Fei asked.
"Alright, let’s begin." Zhao Gushen nodded.
Ye Fei then turned back to the camera and said: "Hello, everyone, I am Fei Xiaomo, also Ye Fei."
"I think you might be surprised when you see this video." Ye Fei smiled, "Because of the person sitting next to me."
"This time, the main purpose of the video is to tell everyone that I am married. My husband... is the one sitting beside me."
"Yes, you didn’t mistake it." Ye Fei was a bit shy, "It’s Zhao Gushen."
"We are married." Ye Fei said, "Our intention was not to hide. It just happened coincidentally with the cooking competition."
"Gushen was concerned if I achieved good results in the competition, people might say it wasn’t due to my real skills. So we thought we would wait until after the competition to announce."
"I know after going public, no matter what achievements I make, people will talk." Ye Fei said.
"If I achieve good results, naturally, some will say there’s inside information."
