Daddy! Come Home for Dinner!
Chapter 791: No Need to Hold Back
"You don’t need to worry about what Second Uncle thinks," Zhao Gushen said. "His thoughts can’t change anything."
"In terms of business, although he has some authority in the Zhao Family’s enterprises, because he’s not from the Family Head’s line, he won’t be placed in the most direct core businesses."
"The Zhao Family’s enterprises are vast; it’s impossible for the Family Head’s line to control everything. Only the truly core and important positions are held by the Family Head’s line and trusted individuals."
"Other branches, or those whom the Family Head clearly doesn’t trust, are placed in more marginal, unrelated positions."
"Because of his status, we can’t just give Second Uncle a completely meaningless position. But even with some say, he can’t interfere in our affairs."
"In private matters, our marriage is something within our own family. Even though he’s a relative, he has no right to interfere. Moreover, he’s only a second uncle, and from a different line."
"I’m not that close with him. Professionally or personally, he has no right to interfere," Zhao Gushen said.
Ye Fei nodded.
She knew that despite this reasoning, the fact that Zhao Gushen’s Second Uncle had no rights didn’t mean he wouldn’t interfere.
Even if the final outcome was ineffective, being inexplicably meddled with could be quite irritating.
Zhao Gushen apparently agreed: "But we can’t shut him up either."
Zhao Gushen gave a cold laugh, "I can already imagine what he’s going to say."
"My Second Uncle, he’s best at using his seniority to boss others around. To put it bluntly, he’s someone who thinks very highly of himself," Zhao Gushen said.
"If he says something unpleasant or offensive, don’t hesitate to speak up just because he’s older," Zhao Gushen said.
"You don’t need to hold back, just say what you want," Zhao Gushen told Ye Fei in advance.
He knew what his Second Uncle was like, but Ye Fei didn’t.
Even after hearing him out, until facing him in reality, Ye Fei probably wouldn’t have a real sense of it.
But that’s okay, isn’t he still there?
Besides, the elders and his parents are not pushovers either.
Their family wouldn’t just sit by and watch Second Uncle bully Ye Fei.
"By the way, the Family Head is still Dad, right?" Ye Fei asked.
Even though Zhao Gushen is in charge now, more people outside know about Zhao Gushen.
But Ye Fei thought about it and realized Zhao Gushen hasn’t yet taken the position of Family Head.
"Yes." Zhao Gushen nodded, "It’s still Dad."
"So, what Second Uncle is eyeing now is Dad’s position," Ye Fei pointed out.
Zhao Gushen laughed, "That’s right."
"For him to keep eyeing that position, none of us, from the old man to me, find him pleasant to look at," Zhao Gushen said.
Given Zhao Gushen’s temperament, would he be cautious just because the other is his Second Uncle?
It’s estimated that if Second Uncle dares to say anything, Zhao Gushen wouldn’t care about his emotions at all.
"Don’t worry," Zhao Gushen reassured Ye Fei again.
Ye Fei naturally wasn’t worried.
She isn’t the same as before; she has so many people protecting her now.
There’s the elders, the in-laws—or rather, they should be called parents.
Chi Jingsi and Zhao Dinghuan introduced themselves as her parents when making a video.
Although they didn’t say much, Ye Fei understood their meaning.
With Ye Fei’s parents being unkind, they were willing to act as her parents.
Ye Fei is their daughter-in-law. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
But they are more willing to treat her as their own daughter.
"We’ll meet after the fifth, so don’t worry so much."
"Anyway, you know you have me, you have Mom and Dad, and you have the elders, and that’s enough. Without you needing to say anything, we won’t allow Second Uncle to speak poorly of you," Zhao Gushen said.
Ye Fei nodded.
She wasn’t afraid to begin with.
Just as Zhao Gushen said, she has him, the parents, and the elders.
She really has nothing to worry about.
If she didn’t have the support of family and elders, she might worry about others gossiping about her. Even if she’s dissatisfied, due to her awkward position in her husband’s family, she’d feel inferior and wouldn’t have the confidence to rebut.
But it’s different for her, with all the family elders supporting her. If she still worries, then she’d really be ungrateful.
"We only have to go back after the fifth; we have nothing to do tomorrow. Is there anything you want to do?" Zhao Gushen asked.
After all, if they’re just idle at home tomorrow, they might as well do something.
Ye Fei shook her head, "I can’t think of anything right now."
These days haven’t been tiring, so she doesn’t particularly want to rest at home.
Ye Fei thought for a moment and said, "How about we ask Xiao Mo tomorrow to see where he wants to go and play?"
In the past, it was Ye Fei who took the little guy around. Even during that time as a single parent, she never wronged the little guy.
Wherever he wanted to go, as long as it was appropriate, Ye Fei would take him.
From parent-child centers, indoor playgrounds suitable for kids his age, Lego parks, educational science museums, to outdoor hikes and excursions.
Whatever other kids with resources could go to, Ye Fei made sure the little guy got to experience it.
But taking him alone always felt different.
In places for parent-child activities, most of the time it’s parents going with the kids.
A family of three looks particularly warm.
Children with both parents present seem to have more fun.
After marrying Zhao Gushen, the little guy actually had fewer outings.
Zhao Gushen was busy at work, and often worked overtime on weekends.
Ye Fei, busy with the cooking competition, even when they both had time off, had to bring the little guy back to the old house.
The elders also missed the little guy.
Though they did take him out a few times, it wasn’t much.
Ask the little guy tomorrow where he wants to go, and take this opportunity to have a good outing with him.
Where they go or what they play doesn’t matter; the important thing is that the three of them are together.
Zhao Gushen agreed.
It was late, so the two of them decided to rest first.
The next day, not only Ye Fei and Zhao Gushen, but even the little guy didn’t wake up early as he went to bed late.
He didn’t open his eyes until 10 AM.
If not for feeling it was already late, he could have slept longer.
It so happened that Ye Fei and Zhao Gushen also got up late, so when the little guy came out of the bedroom, he saw them ready and coming out of their room too.
Ye Fei began preparing breakfast while asking him, "Xiao Mo, what do you want to do today? Where do you want to go to play?"
The little guy thought about it but couldn’t decide right away.
Ye Fei said, "We have the whole day free today, so no rush. Think about it while having breakfast."
Ye Fei said this while taking the toasted bread out and putting it onto a plate.
She then whisked eggs, adding some milk, freshly ground pepper, and salt.
