Daddy! Come Home for Dinner!
Chapter 80: You Know Each Other?
"No, not at all." Mrs. Zhao laughed, "It’s very delicious, really special."
"Exactly." Mrs. Qi praised, "It’s really special, not at all inferior to the chefs in upscale restaurants. We’re not just flattering you to make you happy."
"I heard you don’t plan to work as a private chef anymore, is that right?" Mrs. Wei asked.
Ye Fei nodded, "Due to some personal reasons, I’ll have to pause my work as a private chef."
"That’s truly a pity," Mrs. Wei said regrettably, "Otherwise, I would’ve loved to hire you. What you cook is really delicious."
Mrs. Zhao immediately became alert.
This Mrs. Wei, could she be trying to find an excuse to bring Ye Fei back home to introduce her to Wei Zhiqian?
Mrs. Zhao didn’t give Ye Fei a chance to respond to Mrs. Wei.
What if she really agreed!
This time Ye Fei agreed to come here because she is soft-hearted, isn’t it?
Mrs. Zhao quickly said, "You’ve been busy for so long, sit down and eat something, take a rest."
Ye Fei quickly waved her hand, "How can I? I was just about to take my leave."
"You were busy cooking for us, we can’t let you leave with an empty stomach," Mrs. Zhao pointed to the empty seat next to Zhao Gushen, "Quickly sit down, we saved a seat for you."
"This is your gathering, it’s not appropriate for me to stay." Moreover, she’d have to sit with Zhao Gushen.
The elderly ladies don’t know that she knows Zhao Gushen.
Ye Fei didn’t know how to explain either.
"There’s nothing inappropriate about it," Mrs. Zhao said sternly, "If you don’t agree, I’ll be angry."
Sensing she had no choice, Ye Fei said, "Then I’ll impose on you."
She walked around and sat down awkwardly next to Zhao Gushen.
Not knowing whether to greet Zhao Gushen or not, Zhao Gushen already said, "What a coincidence."
"Yes, really a coincidence," Ye Fei said guiltily.
Mrs. Zhao’s eyes lit up, "You two know each other?"
"I also ordered lunch from Ye Fei," Zhao Gushen explained.
"Oh, what a coincidence, then look after Ye Fei a bit more," Mrs. Zhao advised.
"It’s okay, I can manage myself," Ye Fei quickly said.
At this point, Mrs. Qin asked, "Since you can’t continue as a private chef temporarily, what are you planning to do?"
Then Mrs. Qin added, "If it’s private and inconvenient to say, you don’t have to."
"It’s nothing much, I’ve signed up for the Changping Cup Culinary Competition. So, the remaining time will be spent preparing for the competition, meaning I won’t have time to work as a private chef," Ye Fei explained with a smile.
"That’s indeed the case," Mrs. Zhao nodded in sudden realization, "The competition is stiff, so you do need to prepare well. I’ll come to the site to cheer you on then!"
"Great, thank you," Ye Fei replied with a smile.
She figured the elderly lady was probably just saying it out of politeness.
Ye Fei didn’t take it seriously.
After all, she had only met the elderly lady once, and it was just a client relationship. The elderly lady was quite old, unlikely to make a special trip to see the competition for her.
"Did you specially learn your cooking skills?" Mrs. Zhao asked.
"I helped out in the kitchen at my family’s small restaurant since I was young, learning from my dad. My ancestors used to run a restaurant, I’m not very clear about it, but I’ve heard it was quite famous back then and produced many renowned chefs. But that was many generations ago. It declined later on, but the family culinary skills were passed down," Ye Fei explained.
"Ye Fei, go ahead and eat," Mrs. Zhao instructed Zhao Gushen again, "Help keep an eye on her, I see she’s too shy to eat."
