Chapter 1163 - 1161: World Development Committee
In a metropolis like Bupen, someone dying... is as normal as a cicada falling from a branch during autumn.
According to reports from the Bupen Region Police Station, at least a thousand people die each year in Bupen due to various heinous crimes.
In other words, approximately three people die every day, and among these three, only one person’s case can be solved within half a year.
There is a hope to catch the culprit in the next twenty years for one person, while another case remains forever "silent."
No one knows who killed him, and the murderer will never be brought to justice.
These figures do not even include those murder cases closed as disappearances. People cannot find bodies, so they do not count as deaths, only disappearances, yet a significant portion of these people are actually dead.
The Federation’s most deranged serial killer is linked to at least close to two hundred murder cases, no one is clear why this country is always in the unseen corners of people’s sight, breeding all sorts of bizarre things.
So one person died... no one would care, yet this case does not seem so ordinary.
Investigating further might not be a good thing.
Lynch’s attention shifted from this little interlude in life to other matters, such as... the Golden Alliance.
"I didn’t expect you would argue over the naming issue for this long!"
Sitting in Mr. Truman’s office, the two were having a chat. Now, Lynch’s identity was that of an "economic expert." Such an internationally scaled large trade currency organization definitely needed Lynch to provide some advice.
Just now, Mr. Truman mentioned his recent work situation, which was the most important content of the Federation Government’s foreign policy work recently.
They had only just started and encountered a small problem.
What exactly should this alliance be called?
Initially, Mr. Truman wanted to use the "Golden Alliance" proposed by Lynch as its name, but upon thinking more, it felt awkward to have the Golden Alliance follow the Silver Alliance.
It’s as if the disintegration of Silver and the Silver Alliance was entirely to make way for the Golden Alliance, some advisors believed this would deepen the panic among international forces about the Federation taking a more dominant position internationally.
The sentence is somewhat long, to shorten it, it would mean making people feel that the Federation wants to meddle in everything, not only meddle but also flip the table.
This is not a good display, from the start, in the Federation Government’s international relationship policy, the Federation should lean towards being a neutral country, a reasonable country.
Then the name "Golden Alliance" couldn’t be used, so a group of people began racking their brains to name it, to highlight the Federation’s special status in the alliance, and to demonstrate the grandeur of a major nation.
If anything is the hardest, it must be naming.
Everyone has their own way of interpreting words, perhaps the same name in different people’s eyes stands for different meanings, some good, some bad.
They prefer what they named over what others name. For this reason, some advisors argued endlessly, it has already become a little joke within the Ministry of International Affairs recently.
Those advisors who were usually very amicable, who would even go out together after work, now clearly had some... issues among them.
After Mr. Truman laughed about what happened here, he seemingly unintentionally asked, "If it were you, what name would you choose?"
Lynch thought seriously for a moment, "Actually, we can dissect this matter."
"We don’t necessarily have to include Bail Federal or any word directly linked to Bail Federal in the name, or any other innuendo."
"This is an international organization, if we want more people to accept it, we must make it look like it is not a tool for someone, or some people, at least make it appear so."
"Then it should have a simple, popular name that reflects its core value."
Lynch pursed his lips, pondered for a while, "The World Development Committee!"
Mr. Truman was stunned, then furrowed his brows, starting to seriously consider this organizational name.
Not considering other factors, he had to admit, "World Development Committee" is certainly much better than "Bail International Financial Order Promotion Joint Congress," such a stupid name!
Much better!
Simple, popular, easy to understand, and most importantly, it gives a feeling of "this organization is truly awesome" as soon as you hear it.
Sometimes feeling is very important, especially the first impression.
It’s just... this name does not reflect Bail Federal’s status, even though Mr. Truman really liked this name, in the end, everyone still needs to discuss it, surely someone will disagree.
He looked at Lynch, "How do we reflect our value?"
Lynch was laid-back, "We don’t need to reflect it in this organization’s name, that would be an empty exercise..."
Mr. Truman agreed very much with Lynch’s view, he also didn’t like such empty exercises, but soon he realized he could dislike it, but others not only like it, they also need it.
This is not a contradictory saying, Federation people need a sense of pride, pride is very illusory, it is not a fifty-cent coin that can be held in hand, and truly felt its existence.
Pride is elusive, it is just a state, precisely because the empty exercise can well satisfy all the conditions for people’s pride.
If in an important international organization there appears content related to and led by the Federation, the sense of pride will make Federation people particularly proud.
Not only that, there are similar needs in many places, after the rise of escapism, the entire Federation Society, including individuals in society, are actually pursuing a result of being recognized.
The more active participation of the country in international affairs is to perhaps gain recognition.
This name is good, but it’s not empty enough, it looks a bit ridiculous, but sometimes it is a hurdle you cannot bypass.
Lynch seemed to guess Mr. Truman’s thoughts, and his words made a turn, "...However, we have other ways to link it with us, that’s what I meant by dissecting it at the beginning."
"International organizations, and in the process of establishing international organizations, they themselves are one, but we can break them apart."
"For instance, we will sign the Bupen Treaty with multiple countries in the core city of Bail Federal, Bupen. According to the content of the treaty, we established the World Development Committee."
Lynch rested his hands on the armrests of the chair, his fingertips touching, and his gaze slightly above the fingertips, looking at Mr. Truman, "As long as the World Development Committee doesn’t have problems, the better it operates, the more people will know about the Bupen Treaty and know the role we play in this issue."
"It will also be written into world history development, every one of us will be an undeniable page in world history because of it!"
Mr. Truman already understood Lynch’s meaning, he is a very practical person, also someone with ideals, persistence, and pursuits.
He never thought he would be so happy because of fame or something, he is not that shallow.
But at this moment, he was tempted.
Under his chairmanship, yes, the entire process was under his chairmanship, which means his picture will appear on a certain page in the world history books alongside past greats.
Below it will record his contributions to the world, among which the most important is the "World Development Committee"!
"I think this is a fantastic idea!" Mr. Truman gave a very high evaluation, he said and suddenly remembered something, laughed and asked, "Do you want a position?"
He was referring to having his name left on the official documents, which also means he could become "history" as well.
Lynch nonchalantly opened his hands, resting them on the armrests, "Any way, if it happens I would be happy because of it, if not I won’t be sad because of it either."
"You have such a good mindset, not like a young person at all, young people should fight and strive." Mr. Truman laughed, quickly noting Lynch’s suggestion in his notebook at hand, he would go back to persuade those advisors, he felt this could satisfy the Federation Society’s need for emptiness.
After recording this content, they continued to discuss some other small issues related to the matter.
"These past two days we have already disclosed this trend externally, and a few more countries are willing to join us, currently twenty-two countries have an intention."
"Perhaps on the day we formally announce the establishment, more people will join us, I have a lot of things that are giving me headaches now."
Mr. Truman leaned back, with some matters he could only complain or vent to Lynch, he is the first person in charge of this department and even the Federation’s international policy.
If he showed the emotion of "I don’t know what to do" or "I am also very troubled" in other areas, it would quickly affect others.
"Various messy details and tedious things are troubling me, like the location of headquarters."
"Some say it should be in Bupen, others say it should not be in Bupen, each problem has many people supporting different choices."
"It’s very important, we each know it all too well, so it’s hard for me to freely support one perspective over another, I must seriously ponder whether each choice should be supported, then consider whether supporting such a choice benefits us..."
"My head is going to explode, maybe now I can understand a bit why you are unwilling to go into politics!"
Lynch looked at him with a smile, "This is just a sign of inexperience, once we finish this organization setup work, when you encounter similar problems again, you will quickly figure out what we should do."
"That is a form of growth!"
"The world needs growth, and so do we!"
