Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God
Chapter 382: Another Murder Case
Paper Kite arrived very quickly.
He was quite different from both the "serial killer in training" image and the "former East China Region Inspector of the Order" image that Lin Yu had imagined.
He was a young man who looked shy and introverted, like a recent graduate, wearing a simple shirt, jeans, and sneakers—the kind of science student who would be worrying about his internship and future job at a campus autumn recruitment fair.
As soon as he entered the room, Paper Kite very politely greeted everyone—individually.
"Teacher Li Hua, Teacher Good Night, hello."
"You two must be Fu Luo and May May, right? You've worked hard too, really sorry to trouble you."
From the door to the table was only about five or six steps, but Paper Kite insisted on giving a slight bow of greeting to each person before finally walking to the table.
"May I sit now?"
He pulled out the chair, quickly gestured up and down around the chair with both hands, and asked with a somewhat stiff smile.
"Just sit."
Fu Luo motioned for Paper Kite to sit down.
Only then did Paper Kite sit in the chair, placing his hands on his legs and rubbing them incessantly.
Lin Yu's gaze fell on the other person's fidgeting.
Noticing Lin Yu's stare, Paper Kite immediately spoke up.
"Ah haha, I'm a bit nervous, sorry."
Lin Yu raised an eyebrow. "A former East China Region Inspector gets nervous facing an interrogation from a newcomer like me?"
Hearing Lin Yu's tone, Fu Luo seemed to pick up on Lin Yu's intention to pressure the other party and immediately chimed in.
"Yeah, and haven't you been through this kind of situation before?"
Hearing this, Paper Kite glanced at Li Hua in the corner.
"So you two already know," he said, wiping the sweat from his temple with his right hand, then wiping it on the shoulder part of his clothes. "Is that the main reason I'm suspected?"
"Yes, but not only that... What were you doing at the time of the incident?"
Lin Yu naturally steered the conversation back to the normal interrogation process.
"I was browsing the forum," Paper Kite answered honestly. "Since I came to Haicheng, I thought I'd take a look to see if there were any other 'rule-breaking' people in Haicheng recently besides this incident..."
At this point, Li Hua, who had been standing like a statue in the corner, could no longer hold back. "Qi Han, can't you just lay low for a couple of days?"
"Teacher Li Hua, I don't plan to kill anyone again," Paper Kite immediately replied. "Sorry, I was just looking... I also want to atone for my crimes and perform meritorious service as soon as possible."
Even so, Li Hua still wasn't reassured.
He stared at Paper Kite for a long time, but ultimately said nothing more.
Lin Yu, however, understood Li Hua's reaction quite well.
Because although Paper Kite had apologized immediately just now, judging by his expression, he showed absolutely no sign of remorse.
His "apology" was like a greeting, purely out of politeness and upbringing.
This guy would definitely offend again.
Lin Yu gained a preliminary understanding of Paper Kite in his mind.
He really was a bit dangerous.
"Indeed, the proportion of abnormal individuals among the Death Game player community is just too high..."
Even the Order was only relatively normal compared to other organizations.
However, regardless of Paper Kite's personal disposition or character, Lin Yu would not use that as "evidence" to influence the next steps.
"Alright... but you should know that's not a strong alibi."
As Lin Yu spoke, Paper Kite nodded.
"I understand."
"So, what was your relationship with Radish like?"
Lin Yu asked again.
Paper Kite looked troubled. "Speaking of relationship... there actually wasn't much of one. I wasn't particularly familiar with the old man, but I've heard of him. He was a good person, had a very good reputation."
"Just like the other people you killed before, who also had good reputations."
Fu Luo coldly added a sentence.
Paper Kite lowered his head. "Those people were different. They were hypocrites seeking fame. But Radish... was a truly good person. I actually investigated him."
"Find anything?"
Lin Yu secretly gave Fu Luo a thumbs-up, then continued asking.
Paper Kite shook his head. "If I had found any dirt on him, and if I really had killed him, I would admit it right now and tell you the reason."
"That's how it was before... Actually, Teacher Li Hua only caught me once. The other eight times, I confessed myself after he caught me."
Li Hua facepalmed. "And you're actually proud of that, huh?"
"Absolutely not my intention."
Paper Kite still shook his head. "Anyway, I can guarantee I did not kill Radish, nor did I ever think about killing him."
Lin Yu looked at Paper Kite, thought for a long time, then nodded.
"I believe you... but one last question for you."
"Then, did you have prior knowledge that Radish would die?" 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
Paper Kite was stunned for a moment, then shook his head. "You really know how to joke. If I weren't the killer and yet had prior knowledge... how could I just sit back and watch something like this happen?"
"I understand. You may go now."
Lin Yu made a "please" gesture.
After Paper Kite left, in the interrogation room, Fu Luo turned his head and spoke.
"Still need to call those two from the Player Mutual Aid Association?"
"Not necessary. We have enough information already," Lin Yu looked at Fu Luo. "Do you need to ask anything else?"
Fu Luo crossed his arms. "I don't need to... I was just worried you couldn't keep up with me."
Good Night spoke up happily. "Sibal, sounds like you guys have a lead?"
"Yes," Lin Yu nodded. "Just now, Paper Kite also lied—this time I know he was lying even without the Lie Detector."
Li Hua adjusted his glasses. "But he's not the killer either, right?"
Lin Yu nodded, but before he could elaborate further to Li Hua, the interrogation room door was pushed open again.
Paper Kite had returned.
And behind him were two members of the Hunters' Association: Phoenix and Bright King.
Looking at the somewhat grim expressions on the three faces, Li Hua turned and turned on the light in the room.
"What happened?"
He stared at Paper Kite and asked.
"Another person is dead," Paper Kite said gravely. "It's Cassia Seed from the Player Mutual Aid Association... suicide. He left a suicide note."
"Where, how did he die, who found him, is the time of death confirmed? What did the note say?"
Fu Luo immediately asked.
"In his own room, gunshot suicide by swallowing the barrel. Lotus found him. He went downstairs to buy a pack of cigarettes, came back and found him already dead," Phoenix answered point by point. "The time was just a few minutes ago... As for the suicide note content, I took a picture with my phone."
As she spoke, she took out her phone. On it was a messily handwritten suicide note with only a few short lines.
"He admitted he was the killer."
Lin Yu took the phone, frowning as he looked at the suicide note.
Good Night also tugged at his hair. "Sibal, what kind of joke is this... a Player committed suicide?!"
"This is a complete sibal mess!"
