The next day, An Xiaonuan went to work as usual. After work, she took the bus home, just like she usually did.

She got off at the stop before her neighborhood, because along that stretch was the largest vegetable market around, where she stopped every day to buy groceries for dinner.

An Xiaonuan went to her regular stalls today, buying all of Huangfu Ye’s favorite foods.

After leaving the market, she stopped by a flower shop to buy a bouquet of eustomas, and then continued walking.

At a junction, she waited a few seconds for the red light and crossed to the other side, where she went into a cake shop and bought two chocolate cakes.

Afterward, she didn’t return to the original side of the road but kept walking along the opposite side.

When she passed a big building, she stopped, put her things down, and bent down to tie her undone shoelace.

Her gaze fell on the road opposite, observing the pedestrians. A black figure appeared in her line of sight. She quickly stood up and saw a tall man wearing a black baseball cap and a black mask through the glass wall of the building.

An Xiaonuan quickly turned back, frowning. So it wasn’t her imagination; someone really was following her!

Although she didn’t get a clear look at the person’s face, their eyes did meet, and it was truly terrifying, like a venomous snake.

An Xiaonuan was quite scared. She quickly picked up her things from the ground and headed back to the neighborhood.

Seeing the familiar security guard, An Xiaonuan finally felt at ease.

On the way back to her apartment, she was still very nervous, and only after entering and quickly locking the door did she collapse onto the floor.

Someone was indeed following her.

Who was that man? What was his purpose?

Whoever he was, An Xiaonuan was very certain he wasn’t a good person.

An Xiaonuan considered herself not a coward. She’d go out late at night when she was alone in the past and never knew fear.

But now, she had become timid.
