Chapter 1559: Chapter 17: Light and Shadow in Lu Li’s Syndrome

Mrs. Slav felt regretful.

Lu Li hesitated slightly, but still asked as he would with other patients, "Do you need help?"

"I need a handsome man who can accompany me day and night." Mrs. Slav’s eyes flickered with a mysterious light, "Preferably someone like you—"

"I’ll find the right person for you."

Lu Li timely interrupted Mrs. Slav and suddenly glanced thoughtfully at the Stone Demon.

The Stone Demon and Mrs. Slav were a matching pair in size, and they were in the same ward.

"Human, I haven’t offended you in any way."

The Stone Demon shivered under those quiet, dark eyes.

Unfortunately, the Stone Demon was unwilling...

Lu Li’s attention returned to the remnant of the drowned. He took out a torn fabric piece and handed it to it.

The remnant of the drowned stopped sobbing, lifted its empty sleeve to clutch the fabric piece, stitching it onto the torn shoulder. As the sleeve released, the piece slid down and fell to the floor.

"Woo~~~"

The sleeve covered its neckline, and the crying lamentation grew louder.

Lu Li bent down to pick up the piece of fabric and said to the remnant of the drowned, "Follow me; I know someone who can sew it back together."

Aidanvoya should be able to stitch the sweater back together.

The remnant of the drowned shrank back, afraid to leave with Lu Li, but the Stone Demon’s encouragement helped it leave the bed.

"Helping you is also helping me." The Stone Demon said to Lu Li, nodding to it.

"I believe so too." Lu Li said to the Stone Demon, who had the opportunity to be alone with Mrs. Slav.

Bringing the remnant of the drowned, Lu Li visited Aidanvoya.

Lu Li was a day late from the agreement made the day before, and Aidanvoya had already knitted a sweater for her lover yesterday. However, she was still at the hospital, waiting for Lu Li to fulfill the commitment.

"Did this yarn come from you?"

"No, I tore the sweater apart and would like you to sew it back together."

"Of course."

Aidanvoya agreed cheerfully, expressing a bit of apology, "I wanted to knit a scarf for you, but used up the yarn knitting the sweater for Michael, and I only have this left..."

She opened her palm, where two buttons lay quietly.

The objects given by these patients are becoming increasingly abstract...

Lu Li put away the buttons, entirely unsure of how to use them, and watched as Aidanvoya kindly began to sew the remnant of the drowned with yarn needles. Although using leftover scraps to mend the broken yarn resulted in visible patch marks, at least the "remnant" was no longer incomplete.

"I’m preparing to discharge..." Aidanvoya said goodbye to Lu Li, "Wishing you a wonderful tomorrow."

Leading the remnant of the drowned away from the ward, they coincidentally encountered a returning nurse with the Boss at the staircase.

Seeing Lu Li and the remnant of the drowned together, the nurse revealed undisguised disgust.

"Kid, are you trying to chase her?" The Boss didn’t want to miss a good show and actively started a conversation with Lu Li, "Although this girl isn’t particularly special in appearance, she’s actually quite gentle."

Lu Li ignored the nurse’s disdainful gaze, "I’m just curious why she dislikes me."

"Don’t be in such a rush to refuse; wouldn’t you find it exciting if the normally disgusted nurse is unusually shy in bed?"

"No."

"Are you even a man!"

Lying on the fast-moving nurse’s shoulder, the Boss shouted at Lu Li, "Come to my room later, and I’ll explain what’s going on~"

Without needing to wait, Lu Li followed them directly to room 207, encountering the nurse just stepping out.

"I’m not interested in you."

The nurse frowned, walking past the side-stepped Lu Li.

From the ward came a whistle, "She actively talked to you; it’s a good start. Soon, you’ll be hitting the sheets together!"

The nurse indeed targeted Lu Li only—if Lu Li had said this, he would have long been sent to the third floor.

Lu Li found the remnant of the drowned still following him; he said nothing and entered the ward.

"I thought you would go for a walk in the rain." Kate teased, replying to Lu Li’s comment that "the weather’s nice today." 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

"I can’t go out."

Lu Li replied simply to Kate and then asked the Boss leaning against a pillow, "Why does the nurse dislike me?"

"Men are driven by their lower halves; saying they don’t want something is always a lie." The Boss scoffed sarcastically.

Lu Li didn’t argue, waiting quietly for an answer.

The Boss felt bored, "There must be something about you she doesn’t like."

"What exactly?"

"How the hell should I know!" Compared to the nurse, the Boss was more impartial, "Go ask someone who knows her well! I’m not the one who needs to sleep with her!"

Lu Li thought of the head nurse and headed outside the ward.

"Don’t forget my pair of ’such clear coffee-colored eyes’!"

The call echoed behind as Lu Li suddenly stopped, taking out the two buttons he had received from Aidanvoya.

Their color was between brown and coffee—and they matched the Boss’s doll appearance.

"Can they be your eyes?"

"Not quite good..." The Boss, surprisingly calm, didn’t scream, "But there’s no need to be picky in the Asylum, right..."

Lu Li thought having eyes might make the Boss speak more properly, but in the next instant, the Boss leapt up and slapped him, "Kid, now, get me, the damn sewing needle to sew the eyes on!"

"Follow me." Lu Li nodded.

After sewing for the remnant of the drowned, the remaining scraps were enough to sew the Boss’s eyes.

Arriving at the door, he saw that the Boss hadn’t followed, and turned back to see it still sitting on the bed, raising the plush arms.

"Didn’t see my posture?" The Boss shook the arms, "Carry me!"

Lu Li helped the Boss up, and it skillfully climbed up his shoulder, clutching to his coat.

The real Boss should be a little girl similar to Little Linna; at least holding her, Lu Li wouldn’t feel any strain.

Returning again to ward 205, Aidanvoya was packing her luggage. Upon learning of sewing the Boss’s eyes, she took over the Boss.

"Don’t be afraid." Aidanvoya comforted gently.

"I’m not afraid!"

"But you’re trembling."

"Just the cold breeze blowing in... Kid, shut the window!"

"Are you sure?" Lu Li said calmly, "If I close the window, you won’t have an excuse."

The Boss grumbled but didn’t ask to close again, just kept complaining.

God knows what the real-world delusions outside have to be sewn together.

"Good... brave little girl..."

Aidanvoya finished sewing the Boss’s eyes, and the Boss surprisingly didn’t use foul language.

"Are you getting discharged too?" Lu Li, who was waiting beside, asked.

"Discharged?"

The Boss looked as if seeing a fool, "My mother is the head nurse; no one can bully me here! Why go outside and be bullied by those bad people?"

Lu Li recognized the sad story behind the Boss.

But this sentiment didn’t last long.

"From the moment I got eyes..." The Boss looked puzzled at the remnant of the drowned, "What’s that thing mumbling about?"
