Divine Emperor Demon Emperor
Chapter 243: What a Pity
Lang Dan wanted to compete with Lin Yun in a battle of attrition, to see whose Elemental Power would be the first to run dry. It was obvious he had picked the wrong opponent; how could Lang Dan’s reserves possibly compare to Lin Yun’s Qi Sea?
"I refuse to believe you have any Elemental Power left! Vajra Heaven-Destroying Fist!" With a furious roar, Lang Dan’s Vajra Heaven-Destroying Fist violently collided with Lin Yun’s Thunderfire Bombardment.
A faint smile touched Lin Yun’s lips. Lang Dan’s choice played right into his hands. ’I still have enough Elemental Power to use Thunderfire Bombardment three more times. I doubt Lang Dan ever considered that.’
After the brutal exchange, both Lin Yun and Lang Dan were blasted back more than ten steps. Lang Dan coughed up a few mouthfuls of blood. He had been certain that Lin Yun was out of Elemental Power, but when he looked at Lin Yun again, his eyes nearly popped out of his head.
"How is this possible?" he cried out in disbelief.
Seeing Lin Yun unleash another Thunderfire Bombardment with his own eyes, Lang Dan couldn’t believe what he was seeing. How could Lin Yun possibly have enough Elemental Power left to use that move again? 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
He didn’t even need to think about it. Lang Dan could feel the immense power of the Thunderfire Bombardment; it was a technique that consumed a tremendous amount of Elemental Power. Lin Yun had already unleashed it five times in a row. How could he possibly have any left?
As the Thunderfire Bombardment rushed toward him again, escape was no longer an option. Lang Dan could only muster the last of his strength to defend against it.
After another violent collision, Lang Dan’s Vajra Body finally reached its limit. His once incomparably ferocious aura rapidly dwindled. Lang Dan had now entered a Weakness Stage.
"Your Elemental Power... It’s... impossible..." Having entered his Weakness Stage, Lang Dan stared at Lin Yun in disbelief. ’Just how vast is his Qi Sea?’
As a top-tier genius ranked sixth on the Wind Forest List, Lang Dan’s Qi Sea was far superior to that of ordinary Martial Artists. He never imagined that despite this, he would be run dry and defeated by Lin Yun in a battle of pure attrition.
"You no longer have the strength to fight. I could kill you with the lift of a finger," Lin Yun said calmly, standing before Lang Dan.
He showed no signs of exhaustion whatsoever.
Lin Yun was like a bottomless pit; you could never tell where his limit was. Lang Dan, at this very moment, had no idea how much Elemental Power Lin Yun had left, nor how unbelievably vast his Qi Sea truly was.
"I cannot accept this...!" Lang Dan roared at the sky. In his Weakness Stage, even fleeing was impossible. From the looks of it, Lin Yun still had plenty of strength in reserve. There was no hope of escape.
"Alright, it’s time to send you on your way," Lin Yun said, walking toward Lang Dan one step at a time.
As he watched Lin Yun slowly approach, the expression on Lang Dan’s face shifted constantly. As a genius of the Wind Forest List, this was not the first time he had faced the threat of death.
Every genius had to walk the path on the edge of life and death. Without such experiences, even the most gifted prodigy could never truly mature.
Resentment and regret mingled into a complex expression on his face. Lang Dan had never imagined he would die like this.
"Damn it all! To think that I, Lang Dan, would actually die at the hands of someone in the Third Layer of the Qi Sea Realm! HAHAHAHA..." He burst into wild laughter, each sound thick with bitter resentment.
Just as Lin Yun came within five meters of Lang Dan, he abruptly stopped. An extreme sense of danger washed over him.
A figure mysteriously appeared in front of Lang Dan. The instant he saw the silhouette, Lin Yun sensed that this was a Primordial Ocean Realm expert—and one at the Third Layer of the Primordial Ocean Realm, at the very least.
"Elder..." The person who had suddenly appeared was indeed an Elder from the Wind Forest Sect’s branch. Staring at his back, Lang Dan cried out.
"It seems I wasn’t too late," the Elder replied softly, his gaze fixed on Lin Yun the entire time. As for Lang Dan, even though he was the Grand Elder’s third disciple, his performance today had been a genuine disappointment to this branch Elder.
Lang Dan lowered his head in shame. He knew he no longer had any right to be arrogant. A loss was a loss; no excuse could absolve him.
"Not bad. To have such Combat Power at the Third Layer of the Qi Sea Realm is impressive. However, you’ve offended my Wind Forest Sect, which means you are destined for only one path: annihilation," the Elder said softly.
He was not like that Primordial Ocean Realm expert from Chiyang Pass. His cultivation had long since reached the Fourth Level of the Primordial Ocean Realm, placing him in the Middle Stage of the Primordial Ocean Realm. If he wanted to kill the expert from Chiyang Pass, a single finger would likely suffice.
He didn’t rush to attack. In his view, Lin Yun had no escape today. He was quite interested in a young genius like this. He believed that if he captured him alive and brought him back to the Wind Forest Sect, the Grand Elder would be very pleased.
"I’ll give you a chance to live. Return with me to the Wind Forest Sect, and perhaps you’ll be able to keep your life," he said to Lin Yun.
Hearing this, a smile spread across Lin Yun’s face. "Is that so?" As he spoke, his Space Ring flashed, and a Forbidden Artifact appeared in his hand.
"A Forbidden Artifact?" Seeing Lin Yun produce the item, the man’s expression shifted slightly.
Having revealed the Forbidden Artifact, Lin Yun didn’t hesitate for a second. He immediately activated it, sending it shooting toward the man like a bolt of lightning.
He had no intention of killing the man. Lin Yun’s only purpose in using the Forbidden Artifact was to create an escape route. His opponent was at the Fourth Level of the Primordial Ocean Realm; unless he was at extremely close range, it would be nearly impossible to kill him with a Forbidden Artifact.
Besides, taking such a huge risk to try and kill someone at the Fourth Level of the Primordial Ocean Realm wasn’t worth it. The probability of success was too low. It was better to just cut his losses and run, especially since he hadn’t come out on the losing end today anyway.
As the Forbidden Artifact shot toward him, the branch Elder dared not be careless. He pushed his Elemental Power to its limit, forming a protective barrier around himself and Lang Dan.
A massive explosion shook the very earth. This was the power of Zhong Lin’s full-strength attack.
’Damn it! This is a Forbidden Artifact forged by a Late Stage Primordial Ocean Realm expert!’ Amid the explosion, the Elemental Power barrier the branch Elder had constructed quickly shattered. Only then did he realize that the Forbidden Artifact Lin Yun had thrown was forged by an expert in the Late Stage of the Primordial Ocean Realm.
The Elemental Power barrier shattered. Although it had negated a significant portion of the Forbidden Artifact’s power before breaking, the branch Elder still moved instantly to shield Lang Dan. An attack from a Late Stage Primordial Ocean Realm expert, even a casual one, was more than enough to kill a genius like Lang Dan.
Several hundred breaths passed before the aftershocks of the Forbidden Artifact finally dissipated. The branch Elder shot into the sky, but as he scanned the horizon, there was no trace of Lin Yun and his companions.
"Damn it, the kid got away," he cursed under his breath. ’If it wasn’t for having to protect Lang Dan...’
Having run for over a dozen miles, Lin Yun inwardly sighed with regret that he hadn’t been able to kill Lang Dan today. He never expected a Primordial Ocean Realm expert to show up. If not for that, Lang Dan would already be dead.
"What a pity..." he sighed softly.
"Hey, Young Master Lin, that Forbidden Artifact of yours is amazing! How about you give one to us? Look at us, we’re all out of Elemental Power. Having a Forbidden Artifact for protection would really give us some peace of mind." Showing no tension at all from having been chased by a Primordial Ocean Realm expert, the Monk and Daoist were already scheming to get their hands on one of Lin Yun’s Forbidden Artifacts.
"Get lost! Give you a Forbidden Artifact? I’d probably be the first one you’d use it on!" Lin Yun retorted mercilessly. ’You always have to be on guard around these two. They’re nothing but a pair of scheming troublemakers.’
