Divine Emperor Demon Emperor
Chapter 76: Chatterbox Li Tian
For a full hour, Li Tian’s mouth hadn’t stopped moving for a single moment. After enduring this ordeal, Lin Yun finally made it to the shift change. The instant it was time to switch, Lin Yun didn’t say a word and just ducked into his tent.
"Lin Shan, wait for me! Lin Shan..." Li Tian shouted, chasing right on Lin Yun’s heels.
Unable to take it anymore, Lin Yun spun around and snapped, "Don’t say another word. You’re driving me crazy, and I need to rest."
Hearing this, Li Tian muttered to himself in confusion, ’What’s wrong with him? Aren’t people supposed to talk when they’re together? So weird.’ Despite his muttering, he didn’t continue to bother Lin Yun.
Finally free of Li Tian, Lin Yun entered the tent. Inside, seven men were sitting cross-legged. Since they were in the Yunlu Mountain Range, no one was particularly demanding about their environment; as long as there was a place to sit and cultivate, it was good enough.
Finding an empty spot, Lin Yun sat down cross-legged like the others and began to cultivate with his eyes closed. Once a Martial Artist reached the Opening Realm, they were not overly dependent on sleep. Cultivation, much like sleeping, helped them restore their energy.
"Lin Shan, there you are! I’ve been looking all over for you. Let me tell you..." He had just started cultivating, not even fifteen minutes had passed, when Li Tian somehow found Lin Yun again.
The corner of Lin Yun’s mouth twitched. He desperately wanted to let loose a string of curses, but in the end, he held back. Without opening his eyes or responding, Lin Yun chose to simply ignore the chatterbox.
"Lin Shan, I heard that tomorrow we’re entering the territory of the Tier Two Demon Beasts. But right now, it’s completely overrun with Tier Three Demon Beasts! I bet our mortality rate will be even higher tomorrow..."
"Lin Shan..."
"Hey, Lin Shan..."
Lin Yun continued to ignore him, but Li Tian showed no signs of stopping. Pushed to his limit, Lin Yun’s eyes snapped open. He roared, "What do you want? Can you just give me a moment of peace?"
"Quiet down! You’re so damn annoying!" To Lin Yun’s surprise, the other seven men in the tent also roared in anger.
Tang Feng, the squad leader, got up and strode over to Li Tian. He grabbed him by the collar and said, "Either you cultivate in silence, or you get the hell out. Got it?"
Faced with Tang Feng, Li Tian grew nervous and nodded hastily. "Yes, yes, yes. I’ll be quiet. I’ll be quiet."
After Tang Feng’s scolding, Li Tian restrained himself quite a bit. He found a spot next to Lin Yun, sat down cross-legged, and seemed to quietly begin cultivating.
’Finally, some peace and quiet,’ Lin Yun sighed in relief. Li Tian had finally settled down.
But who could have known that just as the thought crossed Lin Yun’s mind, Li Tian started whispering beside him again, "Lin Yun, let me tell you, I’m not actually from Mysterious City. My family..."
He was going crazy. Lin Yun felt like he was about to lose his mind. He shot to his feet and said to Tang Feng, "Captain, this guy is seriously getting on my nerves. Is there any way to deal with him?"
Hearing this, Tang Feng slowly opened his eyes, a hint of fury now visible within them. Without a word, he rose, grabbed Li Tian, and started dragging him out of the tent.
Soon, Lin Yun heard a series of pathetic cries from outside the tent. "OW! I was wrong, Captain! Don’t hit me! I really won’t talk anymore, I swear, I promise! Ouch! Captain, don’t kick my ass... you can’t hit my eyes either..."
After a sound thrashing, Tang Feng was the first to re-enter, with Li Tian trailing behind him, looking utterly violated and aggrieved.
"Stay quiet. If I hear one more peep out of you, I guarantee I’ll send you to heaven," Tang Feng warned him viciously before sitting back down.
"Got it, got it..." Li Tian responded, bobbing his head up and down like a chicken pecking at grain.
Seeing Li Tian’s sorry state, Lin Yun couldn’t help but be secretly amused. Both of the guy’s eyes were turning into black rings, like a panda’s. It looked like Tang Feng hadn’t gone easy on him at all.
After that, it was finally quiet. Li Tian didn’t dare speak again, and Lin Yun finally got some rare peace.
The rest of the night passed in silence. Early the next morning, the group began to pack up and continue their journey. With the squads now organized, everyone understood their duties.
Lin Yun’s squad was part of the Seventh Company, responsible for securing the front-left flank of the entire formation. As they began to march, the thousand-plus people were no longer in the disorganized mess they had been the day before. Each company had a clear position and assignment.
Lin Yun and his squad members walked on the front-left flank of the formation, but it seemed Li Tian had fixated on him, determined to stay by his side.
"Lin Yun, do you know who I am? I’m not actually from Mysterious City. I was just here traveling for fun, but who would have thought I’d run into this huge upheaval in the Yunlu Mountain Range..."
"Stop. Who you are has nothing to do with me. I’m telling you again, stop bothering me. Can you do that?" Lin Yun snapped, turning his head.
With that, Lin Yun started walking forward again. He really didn’t want to be anywhere near this person; he was just too annoying. But Li Tian quickly ran up to his side and whispered, "You’re not Lin Shan, are you? You used a Disguise Technique."
Hearing this, Lin Yun’s expression changed dramatically. ’He saw through my Disguise Technique?’
"Tell me how you saw through it, or I’ll kill you." Lin Yun was on edge about his identity. If it were exposed, it would surely bring a world-ending calamity down upon him.
Looking at Lin Yun’s murderous expression, Li Tian wasn’t the least bit nervous. Instead, he smiled and said, "You won’t kill me. If you want to know how I saw through your Disguise Technique, then you’ll have to hear me out."
"The truth is..." An entire hour later, Li Tian finally finished explaining how he had seen through Lin Yun’s Disguise Technique.
During that time, Lin Yun truly wanted to kill him. The man was just that annoying. He insisted on using ten sentences to explain something that could have been said in one. However, after listening to Li Tian’s full account, a flicker of shock appeared in Lin Yun’s eyes.
According to Li Tian, his family was originally a great family in the Eastern Domain. At their peak, they had even been ranked among the most powerful Noble Families in the Eastern Domain.
And his ability to see through Lin Yun’s Disguise Technique was entirely because of his family’s bloodline—the True Illusory Eyes.
The True Illusory Eyes could see through any illusion in the world. And it was precisely because of this bloodline that the once-mighty Li Family had been besieged by the great powers of the Eastern Domain, with only a small number of them managing to escape in the end.
They had come to this remote part of Yanhuang Country to settle down and hide from their enemies’ pursuit.
"Why are you telling me all this?" Lin Yun didn’t understand. ’Isn’t he afraid I’ll spread this information around?’
At these words, the once-chattering Li Tian suddenly revealed a strange smile. "You won’t. Because you’re also being hunted. If you expose my identity, we’ll just die together."
Looking at Li Tian’s expression, Lin Yun suddenly felt that this person was not as simple as he seemed on the surface. "Then why did you tell me all this?"
"To cooperate. I want to cooperate with you." Li Tian’s face was full of wisdom. In that moment, he was like a master strategist planning his next move, capable of manipulating heaven and earth as he pleased.
