Chapter 320: Chapter 320: A Love With No Place to Go (20)

Tristan Grayson was no fool. The moment he heard Mika Summers speak, he understood everything.

So, she hadn’t come here today to inspect the set or see her favorite actor. She had come specifically for this very moment.

"I have no objections. We’ll do whatever President Summers says."

Mika Summers’s expression faltered for a moment, a flash of surprise in her eyes. Then, she turned away so she was no longer looking at Tristan Grayson. The hands hanging at her sides clenched into tight fists. "In that case, Director Miller," she said coldly, "let’s begin."

"Tristan, come with me."

Watching Tristan Grayson leave with the director, Mika Summers’s clenched fists slowly relaxed. She was suddenly overcome with a weariness so profound that she no longer wanted to stay.

She had thought that by coming today, she would humiliate him mercilessly.

During their three years of marriage, the label "substitute" was his way of humiliating her. It was the source of her torment.

And now, she was going to make him taste what it felt like to be someone’s substitute...

But when she saw him agree in an instant, almost without thinking, she realized that Tristan Grayson truly didn’t care about anything.

He didn’t care that she was targeting him, that she wanted to humiliate him.

Then again, it made sense. She was nothing to Tristan Grayson, so why would he care...

Just as she felt a little unsteady on her feet, Jessica Archer had a bodyguard bring over a chair. Mika Summers collected herself and sat down.

In less than ten minutes, Tristan Grayson had changed his clothes. With a safety rope tied around his waist, he stood on a second-floor balcony. Behind him were four men holding wooden clubs.

Because of the special arrangement for the scene, they wouldn’t hit him with full force, but it was still going to hurt.

Seeing this made Mika Summers deeply uncomfortable. She averted her gaze and studied her own hands.

Henry Archer looked at the four burly men, scared out of his wits. He rushed over to Mika Summers. There was no way their boss should be taking a beating like this himself.

"President Summers, please make them stop."

Mika Summers looked up and sneered. "Your boss agreed to this himself. Since he isn’t refusing, what right do you have to stop it?"

"President Summers, aren’t you deliberately targeting our boss?" ’This woman is so vicious!’ Henry thought. ’Our boss used to be an A-list star!

’Even though he’s retired from showbiz, if he ever wanted to make a comeback, he’d be cast as the male lead, no question. How could they ask him to be a simple stunt double?’

"Mr. Archer, I think you’re mistaken," Mika’s words cut through his thoughts. "I’m not targeting your boss. I merely made a small suggestion. If your boss didn’t like it or was unwilling to do it, I wouldn’t have forced him, now would I?"

Mika Summers’s words left Henry Archer speechless.

’She did have a point.’

’This woman has no reason to hate our boss, so why would she target him the moment she showed up? It doesn’t make any sense.’

’But what’s gotten into the boss today? Why is he acting so out of character?’

’Didn’t he always say there’s no need to suck up to the higher-ups like this?’

Just then, Director Miller shouted, "ACTION!"

As soon as the word was out, the actors began the scene.

The four men raised their wooden clubs and lunged at Tristan Grayson, who began to fight them on the balcony. Before long, a middle-aged man in a bathrobe ran out. Pointing at the men behind him, he yelled, "Get him! Don’t let him get away! You dare ruin my fun? I’ll kill you!"

More than ten men rushed out of the room and onto the balcony, swarming Tristan Grayson and pummeling him with fists and feet. In a desperate move, Tristan Grayson leaped off the balcony.

"CUT! Excellent! One take!"

Tristan Grayson raised a hand to rub his bruised shoulder. He untied the safety rope from his waist, tossed it on the ground, and started to walk toward Director Miller.

But Mika Summers stood up. Feigning confusion, she asked, "I think we caught President Grayson’s face in that last shot. Director Miller, isn’t a stunt double supposed to keep their face hidden?"
