Don't Lie to Your Therapist—She Already Knows Your Fate
Chapter 194 - 192: The Moving Fox Doll
Seeing that Hou Yaojun was silent and not causing any more trouble, Hou Yaowen proactively sat down on the other side.
Xu Jiali could tell that Hou Yaowen, who had been the most arrogant of them all, seemed to be in a foul mood but wasn’t lashing out.
’How strange. This isn’t like the Hou Yaowen from the plane at all.’
Once everyone was in the car, the driver pulled away immediately.
This time, Xu Jiali couldn’t hold back. "Mr. Hou, you haven’t asked where we want to go."
Before Hou Yaojun and Hou Yaowen could reply, Wen Ying spoke up. "Where we’re going isn’t important. My destination is Xuanyang Town, and I must be there by seven P.M."
Hearing this, Xu Jiali’s eyes widened as she stared at Wen Ying. "Doctor Wen, you’re going to Xuanyang Town, too?"
Wen Ying nodded.
"I’m going there too! What a coincidence. It’s still three hours until seven, so we should make it in time, right?"
Hou Yaowen couldn’t help but snort with laughter.
"What’s so funny, Young Master Hou?" Xu Jiali asked.
Hou Yaowen shot Xu Jiali a disdainful look. "What crappy Xuanyang Town? Who told you we were going there? How stupid!"
Xu Jiali’s face paled. Pleading, she asked, "If not Xuanyang Town, then where are we going? I have to get to Xuanyang Town. Young Master Hou, please, you’ve been so kind, just see it through and take us there."
"Kind? HAHAHAHA!"
Hou Yaowen burst out laughing.
The car sped down the road, the scenery flying by in a blur.
Hou Yaowen gazed out the window, his voice dripping with condescending pride. "I’m taking you to keep me company, of course. Still playing dumb? If you really don’t get it, why did you get in the car? Now that you’re in, you have to play by the rules."
CLAP! CLAP! CLAP!
The sound of applause suddenly filled the car.
"Young Master Hou is right. Everyone must follow the rules. No exceptions!"
Hou Yaowen looked smugly at Wen Ying. "Giving in, are we? Wouldn’t it have been better to do that earlier? Did you really need this young master to play rough?"
Xu Jiali tugged on Wen Ying’s hand. Wen Ying turned to glance at her. "What’s there to be afraid of? Everyone has to follow the rules. Since I’ve agreed, then all of us must abide by them."
Xu Jiali sounded exasperated. "But we’re not the ones who made the rules."
She was new to this scene, but she’d heard plenty of rumors. Some of the older girls she knew had been knocking around in this circle for years.
So when she heard them talk about "rules," her heart filled with dread.
’Doctor Wen doesn’t seem to understand the rules of this world at all. How could she agree so easily?’
"Who says we aren’t the ones making them?" Wen Ying asked, looking at Xu Jiali in surprise.
Wen Ying’s gaze left Xu Jiali speechless.
’Since when was it the turn of people at the bottom of the food chain, like us, to make the rules?’
’They were just playthings, denied any dignity. That was the price of admission to this world.’
’But Xu Jiali never expected it would happen to her so soon.’
’She was just a rookie.’
’Did she have to endure this already?’
’She hadn’t gotten a single thing she wanted yet!’
"Mr. Hou Yaojun, who do you think should be the one to set the rules?"
Seeing Wen Ying bypass him to ask his brother, Hou Yaowen grew disgruntled. "Are you an idiot? The rules are made by the strong, obviously. And it’s obvious that the strongest people here are me and my brother! You two just need to be good little toys."
Wen Ying chuckled. "That’s right. The rules are made by the strong. And if the weak refuse to obey, there’s no need to reason with them."
"Therefore, I’ll be the one setting the rules."
"You’re fucking insane!" Hou Yaowen couldn’t help but curse.
In the blink of an eye, a white shadow flashed past, and a bright red claw mark appeared on Hou Yaowen’s face.
Xu Jiali’s eyes flew wide open!
Her heart was pounding like a drum; she felt like her heart rate must have just broken a world record!
’Because I must be hallucinating!’
’I might be going crazy, too!’
She actually saw—
The doll in Doctor Wen’s arms!
The doll moved!
The doll moved! 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
’Who could possibly understand this feeling?’
A doll had actually moved. It shot toward Hou Yaowen with incredible speed, flashed past him, and Xu Jiali heard a resounding SLAP!
Xu Jiali thought her eyes were playing tricks on her!
’How could a doll move on its own?’
But when she rubbed her eyes, the clear print of a slap was still visible on Hou Yaowen’s face.
Hou Yaowen was stunned for a moment before he started howling in pain.
His howls quickly turned into loud sobs.
Hou Yaojun had been staring straight ahead, so he wasn’t clear on what had just happened.
But when Xu Jiali looked at the doll in Doctor Wen’s arms, it was lying perfectly still.
"Who hit me!"
His reason consumed by rage, Hou Yaowen shot to his feet and spun around to confront Wen Ying and Xu Jiali.
But—THUMP!
He smacked his head on the car’s ceiling, grimacing in pain.
A second helping of hurt, delivered!
Xu Jiali clamped a hand over her mouth, terrified she might laugh out loud.
Clutching his head, Hou Yaowen glared at Wen Ying. "Was that you?"
"What about me? I’ve been sitting right here the whole time. Mr. Hou Yaojun can vouch for me, can’t he?"
"It was you! When I got hit, I heard a voice say, ’Watch your mouth!’ Who else could it have been but you?"
"And did that sound like my voice to you?" Wen Ying asked calmly.
"Well, no..." Hou Yaowen said, a bit embarrassed, but he pressed on. "Even if it wasn’t you, it definitely had something to do with you!"
"Then do you think it was her?"
Wen Ying pointed at Xu Jiali.
"How could it be her? She’s way too weak!"
"So if it wasn’t me, and it wasn’t her, what makes you so sure we’re the ones who hit you? Maybe the heavens just don’t like you and decided to teach you a lesson on how to be a decent human being."
"You!"
Hou Yaojun had more or less pieced together the sequence of events. He turned to Wen Ying, his expression grave.
"Does Mr. Hou Yaojun also think it was me?"
"You didn’t move from your seat. I’m certain of that. But what kind of trick did you use?"
Wen Ying didn’t bother to argue this time. ’Want to try it for yourself?’
SLAP! SLAP! SLAP!
To the onlookers, a white afterimage seemed to flash by. It was too fast for anyone to see what it was.
But it definitely came from Doctor Wen’s direction!
The claw marks on Hou Yaojun’s face were even worse than his brother’s.
"So? Have you confirmed it now?" Wen Ying asked curiously, seemingly oblivious to the fury on the two Hou brothers’ faces.
"Brother! The marks on your face... they’re not handprints. They look like they were made by animal claws."
Hou Yaowen stared at the scene in utter confusion.
There were only five people in the car, including the driver.
’Where would an animal have come from?’
But while the speaker may have been oblivious, the listener took his words to heart. Hou Yaojun suddenly remembered what had happened on the plane.
The scene he had witnessed.
Suppressing the fury boiling inside him, Hou Yaojun shifted his gaze to the white fox doll in Wen Ying’s arms.
He remembered that the doll’s eyes could move, and so could its claws.
’Its claws could move?’
’Its claws could move!’
Hou Yaojun’s expression turned incredibly grim.
