Dragon Blood Saint Emperor
Chapter 280 - 281: To Seize the Fortuitous Opportunity
Watching Ye Wushuang’s hasty departure, the crowd trembled with fear. The nicknames "Ruthless" and "God of Slaughter" surfaced in their minds—he was truly as arrogant and domineering as his reputation suggested.
Ye Wushuang was unaware of the crowd’s thoughts. He had acted this way for two reasons. The first was to make an example of someone.
These people saw him as nothing more than an inexperienced brat and showed him no respect. If he didn’t resort to certain measures, he feared no one on Cyan Profound Peak would listen to him in the future.
And the measures he took had to be severe enough to be seared into their memories, a warning to all others.
The second reason was related to Ye Rou’s capture. The man in black Yang Qing’er had mentioned was able to pinpoint Ye Rou’s location and abduct her from the Cyan Profound Hall with ease. This suggested an intimate familiarity with Cyan Profound Peak; the culprit was most likely one of their own.
This was why Ye Wushuang was so furious.
Furthermore, the note he had received demanded he trade his fortunes for her safety, which all but confirmed his suspicions.
BOOM!
Ye Wushuang’s aura erupted with incredible violence. He shot out of Wangtianya like a streak of light, moving so fast that the other disciples couldn’t get a clear look at him before he vanished to the southeast.
’My sister had better be alright!’
Though his face was like ten-thousand-year-old ice, his heart burned with anxiety for his sister.
Ye Wushuang moved at his utmost speed. In the blink of an eye, he disappeared beyond Wangtianya, entering a canyon to the southeast.
The canyon opened into a secluded valley filled with dense shrubbery and a vibrant array of rare and exotic flora.
A figure stood upon a smooth stone in the center of the valley. Dressed entirely in black, with a black hood pulled low, their face was completely obscured.
CRACK!
The crisp snap of a twig caused the figure in black to look up, their sharp, sinister eyes locking onto the approaching Ye Wushuang.
’He’s here.’
The figure’s eyes glinted.
As Ye Wushuang entered the valley, his Divine Sense swept the surroundings, immediately detecting people lying in ambush on all sides.
But he felt no fear. Their auras weren’t particularly strong; most were only at the Eighth or Ninth Layer of True Essence.
"Have you brought the treasures?"
The figure in black asked coldly, locking their Divine Sense onto Ye Wushuang.
Ye Wushuang could sense the man’s power. He was strong, at least at the Second or Third Layer of the Spiritual Spring realm.
’Elder Mo!’
Ye Wushuang repeated the name in his mind, a hint of killing intent surfacing.
He didn’t expose him, however. "Where is my sister?" he asked coldly. "I want to see her and make sure she’s completely unharmed."
"She’s fine. As long as you hand over the treasures, I’ll release her immediately." Fearing a trick from Ye Wushuang, the figure in black didn’t agree to his demand.
After a moment, a smaller, masked man stepped forward. "My lord, he wasn’t followed."
"You keep your promises," the man in black said upon hearing the report. "Now, hand over the treasures you carry. I, too, will keep my promise and release your sister."
"I brought the treasures," Ye Wushuang said coldly, struggling to suppress his killing intent. "But if I don’t see my sister, how can I be sure you won’t deceive me?"
"I hold all the cards," the man in black said. "You have no choice."
"Fine," Ye Wushuang said after a moment’s hesitation. "You want the treasure, I can give it to you. But if you take it and don’t release her, you will die a miserable death." He then took out a Scroll and tossed it over.
The man in black caught it. He scanned it carefully with his Divine Sense, and only after confirming there were no traps did he open it.
"A Saint-Level, Low-Grade Combat Skill... Heavenly Concealing Hand!"
Staring at the Scroll, the man in black cried out in shock. He never imagined the boy would so casually hand over such an earth-shattering Combat Skill.
He suppressed his elation, quickly stowing the Scroll away before stating greedily, "Besides the Heavenly Concealing Hand, you have many other treasures. I want... all of them!"
"Fine!"
Ye Wushuang offered no argument. A sphere of light, shot through with glimmers of a saber’s edge, flew out from between his brows.
Though it was only a ball of light, it pulsed with a terrifying killing aura that could make one’s very soul tremble.
The man in black was certain. This sphere of saber light had to be a peerless treasure, a hundred, even a thousand times more precious than the Heavenly Concealing Hand. Anyone who laid eyes on it would be consumed by envy.
His own eyes instantly turned red with greed. ’This brat’s Destiny is truly formidable,’ he thought. ’How else could he obtain something like this?’
"This is a Saber Dao legacy," Ye Wushuang explained. "What’s inside is in no way inferior to the Heavenly Concealing Hand."
"Give it to me."
The man in black tried to control his emotions, but the eagerness in his voice betrayed him. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
Seeing the man had taken the bait, Ye Wushuang said coldly, "I want to see my sister. I will count to three. If I don’t see her by then, I’ll destroy this immediately."
As he spoke, a sliver of blood-red Saber Qi materialized at his fingertip. He raised his hand, ready to bring it down.
"Three!"
When he heard Ye Wushuang begin to count, the man in black frowned with a hint of hesitation.
"Two!"
The man’s brow furrowed deeper. He remained still, but his eyes betrayed his anxiety.
"One!"
As Ye Wushuang’s count reached one, the Saber Qi decisively slashed down through the air. He clearly wasn’t bluffing.
"Wait!"
Seeing this, the man in black finally shouted, "Wait! Don’t do it! I’ll let you see your sister."
He then turned and gestured to his right.
Immediately, two men in black emerged from a rocky alcove, dragging Ye Rou with them. Her voice had been sealed, preventing her from speaking; she could only let out muffled whimpers, trying to urge Ye Wushuang to flee.
Ye Wushuang’s brows tightened.
The man in black said, "Now you see that she’s fine. Hand the legacy over to me first."
"Let her go," Ye Wushuang said coldly, "and I’ll give you the legacy—and even more. Otherwise, you’ll get nothing at all."
"Is that so?" the man sneered. "Unless you want to watch her die right in front of you."
The man in black sneered back. He had started with all the leverage, but somewhere along the way, the tables had turned. The fact that a junior had outmaneuvered him was infuriating.
Ye Rou struggled desperately, trying to signal for Ye Wushuang to run.
Seeing that Ye Rou was unharmed, Ye Wushuang calmed down considerably. He took a deep breath and said, "This stalemate benefits no one. Let’s do a simultaneous exchange—her for the treasure. With your strength at the Second or Third Layer of the Spiritual Spring realm, surely you’re not afraid of me."
The man in black hesitated at the proposal. With a flicker of his Divine Sense, countless dark figures emerged from all corners of the valley, completely surrounding Ye Wushuang.
Ye Wushuang paid them no mind, his gaze remaining fixed on the man in black.
After a long moment, the man in black finally agreed. "Fine!"
’With so many of my men here, he wouldn’t dare try anything.’
He signaled for the small, masked man to bring Ye Rou forward. True to his word, Ye Wushuang pushed the sphere containing the Saber Dao legacy of the World-Destroying Slash toward him.
The Divine Sense of the surrounding figures locked onto Ye Wushuang, ready to react to his slightest movement.
The leader’s gaze, however, was fixed on the Saber Dao legacy of the World-Destroying Slash. He sneered inwardly. ’Brat, as soon as I get this, I’ll kill you myself. Then everything you own will be mine.’
As the small, masked man led Ye Rou toward Ye Wushuang, the sphere of light passed right beside him.
’Perfect timing!’
Seeing his chance, the man in black shot toward the sphere of light, his eyes flashing with scorn. ’Hmph. You’re still far too green to challenge me, brat.’
