Lin Qi remained in his seat, motionless.

There was no need to rush. Lin Qi didn’t believe the Liu Clan had only sent these four A-Class Implanters to act as bodyguards.

"You four, guard the exit. Lin Qi, come up to the front."

Liu Xuan’s voice suddenly cut in, her tone completely different from Lin Qi’s usual impression of her.

Composed, calm, and decisive.

Her judgment was also precise.

Once her permissions were restored, Liu Xuan had sounded the alarm while simultaneously receiving video feeds from Car Two.

She couldn’t see the full picture, but after identifying the models of the Prosthetic Bodies implanted in the attackers, Liu Xuan quickly came to a conclusion.

This Mercenary Squad was just bait. The real key to the operation was likely hidden in Car One all along.

’There’s a problem with the four bodyguards!’

"No. He can’t come over here."

Liu Yue stopped Liu Xuan. He was one of the four Liu Clan members inside Car One.

Liu Heng, another member, also spoke up. "Brother Yue is right. An outsider is extremely suspicious at a time like this."

’Suspicious my ass!’

In his Spiritual Vision, Lin Qi could clearly see the two compromised bodyguards had no intention of moving away.

Their implanted Prosthetic Bodies, however, were stirring.

’These two traitors are trying to force the plan into motion!’

’I can’t let them succeed!’

Unable to get a read on the situation in Greenfield City, Lin Qi still needed Liu Xuan’s backing.

He was about to activate Blood Manipulation and serve the two full-body A-Class Implanters a cocktail of cardiac arrest and cerebral infarction.

Just then, a powerful electromagnetic pulse swept through the entire car.

An S-Class Weapon: a Signal Jamming Generator.

It was the bane of all Prosthetic Bodies below S-Class, causing them to malfunction.

Lin Qi’s own Exoskeleton was also restricted, becoming unresponsive.

If it were a life-or-death crisis, Lin Qi would have used the manual override to break free.

But this was the Red and Green Train.

The only people who could deploy an S-Class Weapon here had to be from Liu’s Heavy Industries.

As expected, the four A-Class bodyguards were just the surface-level protection. S.H.I.E.L.D. also had its loyal, high-level agents.

At the front of Car One, the metal door connecting to the locomotive slowly opened.

The train conductor emerged.

In his Spiritual Vision, the conductor was an ordinary man with no prosthetic implantations whatsoever.

Lin Qi hadn’t paid any special attention to the conductor before. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

As the conductor drew closer, Lin Qi noticed more details.

’Something’s not right!’

There were no S-Class Weapons nearby.

The train’s own weapon systems showed no signs of activation.

The suppression effect on the Prosthetic Bodies originated from this "ordinary" man before him.

’This uncanny Spiritual Power... This isn’t a signal jamming generator. This is the power of a Wizard.’

Lin Qi "saw" a familiar power emanating from the conductor.

Spiritual Vision allowed him to directly "see" the state of one’s Spiritual Power. A Wizard’s Spiritual Power was an uncanny thing, like a dark stream flowing beneath the fabric of space.

Whenever a Wizard unleashed their power, this uncanny Spiritual Power would extend and twist like tentacles.

Lin Qi’s own Spiritual Power behaved in a similar way.

Even if other Extraordinary Professions involved Spiritual Power, it never manifested in this way.

’At least Tier Three, possibly even Tier Four.’

’How many Extraordinary Items would it take to create a Wizard of that Level?’

’Liu’s Heavy Industries truly lives up to its name as a major corporation, managing to gather so many Extraordinary Items in this Cyber World.’

"Second Uncle," the four Liu Clan members said in unison.

The conductor nodded at Liu Xuan. "Well done. Your judgment was spot on. The clan’s faith in you is not misplaced."

Then he shot a glance at Liu Yue and Liu Heng. "Worthless."

The words were so direct that the two brothers didn’t dare to look up.

Liu Li, on the other hand, just blinked. She hadn’t done anything, so she hadn’t made any mistakes.

The conductor looked at Liu Li, and seemed to want to say something, but held his tongue.

After a moment, the conductor’s gaze fell upon the two bodyguards who had been about to act. "Traitors."

With a wave of his hand, an invisible force lifted the two bodyguards and sent them flying toward the locomotive. The conductor clearly had no intention of dealing with the traitors in Car One.

Enveloped in his Spiritual Vision, Lin Qi saw that as the two bodyguards "flew," the force seemed to be acting on their Prosthetic Bodies.

’Electromagnetic Force?’

Finally, the conductor’s gaze fell upon Lin Qi.

He took a step toward Lin Qi.

"Second Uncle, he’s not a threat," Liu Xuan’s voice came from behind him.

The conductor paused.

He withdrew his foot. "Is that an order?"

Liu Xuan fell silent for a few seconds.

Just as the conductor was about to take that step again, Liu Xuan stated firmly, "It is."

The conductor immediately turned and walked back the way he came.

He stopped at the doorway between the locomotive and Car One.

Just before the metal door closed, the conductor said, "You have a weakness. That’s not a good thing. It will affect your judgment. As your Second Uncle, I think it would be best if he were out of your life sooner rather than later."

Liu Xuan said nothing, watching the metal door slide shut.

Liu Yue and Liu Heng snapped out of their daze, looking toward Liu Xuan and trembling involuntarily.

"You... you’re..." Liu Yue stammered.

Liu Li cut him off instantly. "Shut up!"

Instantly, Liu Yue couldn’t utter another word.

’That uncanny Spiritual Power again.’

’Damn it!’

’Liu Li is a Wizard, too!’

’How can the Liu Clan have so many Wizards?’

And their Abilities were bizarre.

The power Liu Li displayed seemed to affect the human body directly—she told him to shut up, and he was physically silenced.

’Her Level isn’t high, and it seems to have limited effect on heavily augmented Implanters.’

’The conductor’s Ability, on the other hand, was terrifyingly powerful.’

A signal jam comparable to an S-Class Weapon, and what looked like the Ability to manipulate Electromagnetic Force.

It didn’t seem like a Wizard’s power at all.

But that’s just what Wizards were.

A Wizard’s power was defined by its bizarre and unpredictable nature, defying all logic and trampling on the laws of science.

And yet, the conductor’s powers seemed almost... scientific.

Lin Qi sat back in his seat, lost in thought.

The two remaining bodyguards, as well as the Liu Clan members, including Liu Xuan, all ignored Lin Qi. No one spoke a word to him.

It was as if he didn’t exist.

’That’s fine by me. Fewer complications that way.’

Lin Qi kept his Spiritual Vision active, extending it past Car One and toward the locomotive.

The conductor wasn’t dealing with the two traitors just yet. Instead, he was using the train’s communication equipment.

Luckily, the conductor was a Wizard—and one who disdained subterfuge.

He was communicating openly, not like an Implanter who would use a discreet brain-computer interface.

The person on the other end of the call was a middle-aged man Lin Qi recognized—from the news.

It was the chairman and direct controller of Liu’s Heavy Industries, Liu Xingyuan.

"We had a situation. The Mercenaries seemed to be very familiar with my power. They overrode the train’s internal permissions, so the monitors showed everything in the cars as normal. If they hadn’t had their own accident, the Liu Clan’s current situation probably wouldn’t be any different from the Si Clan’s."
