Chapter 937: Chapter 937: Hearing reports (4)

"Well I’m all ears Findley, lay it on me." His loyal ice troll commander rarely played around so the news must be juicy.

"A few days ago B-rank monsters were unlocked in the Dungeon menu."

"That’s some impressive news I’ll give you that." Frost didn’t waste any time; he brought up the Dungeon menu in front him and manoeuvred over to the list of monsters available for purchase.

All three of his current B-rank monsters, Findley, Khuno and Yuna were born through evolutions and rather difficult evolutions at that. Different from when one of his goblins evolved they each needed to devour a multitude of magic crystals so as to harness enough energy to transcend their limits. The Dungeon and Frost were not strong enough to facilitate such advancements by themselves thus no B-rank monsters were available to be purchased outright.

Now however that previously hard limit seems to have changed, likely because of a combination of the Dungeon gaining an additional two floors and Frost himself rising to mid B-rank thus having the strength needed to restrain early B-rank monsters.

If he wasn’t strong enough or if the Dungeon couldn’t pressure a summoned monster enough it could end up rebelling. Back when he had just been born and his strength was at the peak of D-rank the polar bear he summoned acted standoffish, initially gauging whether it needed to listen to his commands or not.

"There’s only two options and both are early B-ranks."

"I can see that but even a single early B-rank would greatly bolster our strength." Findley, Khuno and Yuna were all still early B-rank after all.

[Armoured woolly rhino 11,000P]: a massive rhino weighing several tonnes. Dense, coarse hide, protected by thick, matted hairs make it practically impenetrable to weapons below peak 3 star. It has few weaknesses as even its joints are protected bonelike armour. Defence is this monster’s forte but at the same time it wields destructive potential. With a horn that stretches up to 3 metres it can decimate any structure or individual foolish enough to bar it’s path. A charger at its core and thus weak to changes in directions and flexibility.

[Scythe taloned raptor 10,200DP] a carnivorous dinosaur standing 2.5 to 3 metres tall. Quick on its feet, powerful hindlimbs suitable to rapid charges and deadly leaps. Its teeth can easily shatter steel but its most fearsome asset is its claws; sharper than most swords they can rend apart armour and flesh like a knife through butter. While formidable alone they prefer to hunt in packs ranging from 2 members to a whopping 8. Cunning hunters that expertly stalk and ambush their prey.

"Bestial, guess that’s to be expected." This meant he likely wouldn’t be able to hold a conversation with them, muscle for his roster rather than leaders like Findley, Khuno and Yuna.

"Let’s add a couple of them to our next purchase order." The Dungeon already sported more than a couple B-rank adventuring parties, they’d likely be overjoyed to discover the presence of B-rank monsters as that signified far greater potential, at least when it came to monster lairs. C-rank meant veteran, skilled and experienced in their profession but it was a level many could reach through effort and or wealth, B-rank however required a certain degree of talent to achieve thus there was an important distinction. A B-rank monster lair heralded a profit potential tens of times more than that of a C-rank one.

"By your command I will see it done." Findley placed his hand across his chest and bowed in a military fashion. Confident that with the Dungeon’s current strength they could handle any attention these new monsters would inevitably bring.

"So overall the Dungeon is in a healthy state, several floors are still undiscovered, our income is close to three times our expenditure and we now have access to B-rank monsters." Frost summed up Findley’s report in a single sentence.

"Yes Master, very healthy in my opinion."

"Good, now we can start discussing how to go about spending that whopping 350,000DP we’ve accrued." A passionate smile adorned his lips as he spoke of spending his cash reserves.

"325,000DP Master." Findley corrected, not letting his master forget his earlier promise.

"Yeah, yeah, the investment in the spiders don’t worry I won’t go back on my word." He dismissed the interruption with a wave of his left hand before slamming both against his desk, ushering a new phase in their discussion.

"Before I relay my plans I should probably fill you in on a few things." Frost then proceeded to tell his most trusted monsters about his adventures through the Glacial mountains and of the threat that was looming ever closer upon their domain.

"We need more DP." Stated Findley the moment Frost finished explaining.

"Agreed, we don’t have nearly enough to outfit the Dungeon for a war of this scale. We need to attract more and stronger people to the city and the Dungeon itself." Khuno expanded, offering a partial solution.

"Idiots that’s obvious, the question is how we go about doing that in the shortest amount of time." Yuna insulted her two colleagues, seeing their oversized heads as nothing but dense spheres of bone and flesh.

"Well since you’re so smart Yuna why don’t you tell us the answer?" The powerful ronso leader didn’t take to kindly to her insults, insults he had been hearing much more frequently since she took office in the Lord’s manor.

"Foolish Khuno, Master’s already brought us a bunch of attractive lures." Yuna’s nose couldn’t point any higher as she talked down to the much larger Khuno.

"Stop bickering in front of Master otherwise I’ll punish you both." Ever the elder brother Findley wrapped his knuckles atop both their heads before forcing them to apologise to Frost.

"Yuna’s right Khuno, I’ve already prepared several solutions to our problem, they just need a little polishing and experimentation."

"As expected of you Master."

"Kiss ass." Yuna whispered under her breath earning her a death glare from Khuno.

"What did I just tell you!" Findley once again moved to enact punishment but stopped when he heard Frost laughing.

"Hahahaha sibling rivalry, a beautiful thing hahahahaha." Yuna and Khuno reminded him of Nanna and Loki albeit a little older.

"Master that’s so mean, there’s no way I’m related to this moron." Yuna visibly shivered, her expression revealing disgust.

"....I’m allowed to hit her once for that right?" Asked Khuno, his anger already presenting in the form of throbbing veins.

"...Once."

"FINDLEY!!"

"Yeah once should be fine."

"MASTER!!!" Yuna screeched, a sense of betrayal and terror blooming in her heart.

"Oh I’m gonna make this count." Before Yuna could even recognise the fire pit she’d been tossed into Khuno lashed out with a swing of his left arm, Yuna was sent flying into the nearby wall.

"Urgh!" She groaned in pain, her forte being magical combat rather than physical exchanges. Nothing was broken since Khuno went easy on her, but it hurt a lot which was the point. Punishment for that evil mouth of hers.

Knowing that she wasn’t really injured Frost helped her from the wall, showing a modicum of concern to hide his urge to laugh. All the while Yuna switched between feeling giddy because her master was lavishing her with care and attention and launching death glares at both Khuno and Findley.

’Don’t think this is over you two.’ She threatened with her eyes, determined to triumph over the two of them in the very near future. She was the weakest of the trio and thus subject to a slightly lower station, but nothing stays the same forever, someday she’ll have even the most lauded Findley bowing at her feet.

"What Yuna mentioned earlier is one of my proposed solutions. I’m sure by now you’ve already taken a look at the guests I brought back from my trip."

"Indeed Master but their overall strength isn’t all that impressive, bar one or two I fail to see how they can bring much change to the Dungeon." Findley being a straight shooter only looked at their combat capabilities.

"I’ve not interacted with them personally as of yet but through the Dungeon’s viewing portal I noticed that they’re all women and that they’re rather strangely dressed as if hiding themselves from the eyes of the world." Khuno was a bit more open minded, trying to think outside the box. Combat strength was the easiest thing for Frost and the Dungeon to get their hands on so there must be another angle, one that Yuna was aware of, probably because she was in charge of seeing to their quarters.

"An astute eye Khuno, you’re right they’re all women and they’re hiding a very big secret, and it is that secret that will help us lure in more able bodied adventurers in mass."

"Do you remember when we first opened up the camp, the days when adventurers would delve passionately into the Dungeon only to be disappointed when they exited."

"Yeah they were very vocal about the lack of amenities available." I.e. no inns to rest, restaurants to dine at, workshops to repair and or purchase equipment, no guilds, no medical tents and perhaps most of all nowhere to get booze. In the early days most delving adventurers would make the long trek back to Furano as Niflheim at the time just didn’t have what they needed.

"So we built them amenities, what happened then?"

"The adventurers stayed, we even attracted civilians to reside here on a permanent basis."

"Exactly and I plan for this group of women that I’ve taken under my wing to offer another type of service, one that will attract even more people."

"....What kind of service Master?" Findley was struggling to follow; his mind not made for this kind of subtlety.

"I’ll give you a clue, what’s the most vocal complaint among the adventurers right now, particularly the male adventurers and if that’s not enough within this room both Khuno and myself have engaged in this activity."

"...Ah!" Khuno had a lightbulb moment, he and his master only had one thing in common that Findley and Yuna didn’t.

"Sex, you want to establish a brothel."
