Xiran was sitting with Aselia, watching her sleep in peace when his phone rang. It was Rivan.

"Xi, were you awake?" He inquired in that calm voice of his.

"Yes, what’s up? Did you uncover anything?" Xiran questioned.

"I did, we are almost at your place. Come to the dungeon hall, I have something to show you," Rivan informed him.

"On my way," Xiran cut the call. He gave a small kiss on Aselia’s head who was fast asleep and tucked the duvet in from all sides so she won’t feel cold.

Getting off the bed, he made his way to the dungeon hall, closing the door lightly behind him.

Entering through the door that lead to the hall, he stood there with his hands in his pockets contemplating what was to come.

The upper door which connected with the stairs opened and three people climbed down. Rumail, Rivan, and his secretary; who seemed pretty scared. Rivan was holding her by her wrist.

Once they had descended the stairs Rivan pushed her toward Xiran and she fell on her knees right in front of him.

Confusion marred Xiran’s features as he asked: "What are you doing, Rivi?" He helped the girl up who was shaking with fear, her eyes held terror. Xiran held her by the arm.

"She is your mole, she sent the location to those hounds. So, all yours to question."

An angry jolt rippled through Xiran’s body. He jerked his hand away from her. Before he could harm her, he let go of her arm and stepped away. This baffled the girl beyond any reason, she was expecting him to slap her or maybe choke her like Rivan. But he stepped back with so much revulsion on his face.

"Why?" He thundered, his expressions were almost pained and Irlana felt her heart sink.

"I am sorry," she whispered keeping her eyes low.

"Don’t even bother, just answer my questions," Xiran was full of contempt.

"You want a short version that will spare you the pain and will make it easier for you to kill me or do you want the long version, which will complicate the situation and will affect your actions?" Irlana asked in a trembling voice.

"Oh! Please, stop with the drama and tell him the truth," Rumail sneered at her from over the bar, where he was pouring himself a drink. She gulped at his words.

"I want all the truth, let me decide after what your fate will be. I want to know everything, including why you did what you did and who made you do it, and how much you have told them about my girlfriend," Xiran burst out, his patience being tested to the brim. He balled his hands in an effort not to punch someone.

Listening to his words Irlana took off the stylish beret she was wearing and tucked away her hair revealing her ears to him before speaking:

"I only told him that you brought a girl along, her name, identity and face are still a mystery. I didn’t provide that information," Xiran heaved a sigh of relief at her words. Irlana continued:

"I am a vampire-elf hybrid born out of rape. My mother is an elf, she was captured by your father 24 years ago and was brutally raped until she became pregnant with me."

The air in the hall became thick with the deafening silence that followed. Xiran drew in a sharp breath at her words and took a step further back from her. So many emotions crossed his face as he ravaged hers for any lies, but he didn’t find any. Knowing in his bones what his father was capable of, the girl was probably telling the truth.

Rivan scrutinized her words while Rumail stopped drinking and watched them with a deadpan face, not believing what he was hearing.

She continued as more tears escaped her anguished orbs: "After I was born, he trained me to learn manipulation but that was not my forte. He often called me too soft and compared me to you."

Irlana stared at Xiran who was looking at her as if he had seen an alien. The shock of her words was slowly registering with him. She further revealed:

"He kept my mother locked up so I would never escape him and do his bidding. I had proper education and a job to keep my appearance. But occasionally he would send me to powerful men as a reward or to win favours," her voice trailed off as she choked on her emotions.

Xiran didn’t understand what to do at that instant if to believe the girl or not, but his heart hurt at the revelations and his expression softened.

"Anyways, a few weeks ago he told me to come here. He had seen a job opening at Sir Rivan’s office and wanted me to apply. After getting the job, he asked me to keep an eye on you and inform him of your activities. Failing to do so will result in my mother either going through more torture or rape. I know it’s not a justification for my crimes but I did what I did for my mother, she is all I have."

Irlana told the truths of her life leaving the decision with Xiran. Who was dumbfounded and had become tongue-tied. He opened his mouth to say something but no sound would come out. He closed his eyes to let all that sink in before opening them and asking: 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

"Are you really my sister?" His tone was soft all the hatred he felt for her had evaporated.

"Xiran, don’t believe her. She is probably lying to save her skin or can be another ploy by your father to hurt you," Rivan warned him while stepping forward and whirling Irlana around by her arm so she would face him instead of Xiran. He growled:

"If you are lying and toying with his emotions, remember you will go through me, and you won’t even live to regret it."

"I am not lying, you can carry out a sibling DNA test on me," she replied between hiccups.

"For all, we know her blood might have been altered as well by that monster. Xiran I don’t trust her," Rivan expressed his truth and considering everything his mistrust was valid.

"Blood can temporarily be altered but genes don’t lie Rivan, the sibling DNA test doesn’t require a blood sample and will reveal the truth, and I want to get to it as soon as possible. I am calling Dr. Wanstine," Xiran took out his phone from his pocket and with shaky hands dialed her number.

The poor woman was sleeping since it was so early in the morning but seeing Xiran calling her, she knew it would be an emergency.

"Dr. Wanstine, sorry for bothering you this early. But can you come to the med area, I am bringing someone and need you to perform a sibling DNA test, kindly meet me there," Xiran instructed as soon as she picked up.

"No problem, I am on my way," Xiran cut the call and glanced at helpless Irlana whom Rivan was still holding.

"Let her go, Rivan," Xiran asked his friend in a soft tone. "Get her a glass of water," he instructed a bewildered-looking Rumail.

Rivan sighed and reluctantly let her go but he stayed close and kept glaring at her as if contemplating her actions.

"Take a seat Irlana and drink some water," Xiran took the glass from Rumail and moving closer offered it to her. She accepted it with eyes filled with gratitude and began to drink.

Xiran’s heart and mind were in an emotional turmoil thinking he might have a sister who was as abused by his wretched father as he was, even worse from what she had told him so far.

Observing her with a different eye, he saw that she held a resemblance to his father and Xifin. Same coloured eyes, though theirs were cold, Irlana’s eyes were warm and he didn’t find any hostility in them.

Once she had relaxed a bit Xiran asked her and Rivan to accompany him. Rumail decided to head home but asked them to keep him updated and call him if the need arise.

Dr. Wanstine was waiting for them with the Sibling test DNA kit as they entered the med area.

"Good morning, Doctor. Sorry for bothering you so early but it is urgent and I want the result as soon as possible," Xiran stated while taking a seat and instructing Irlana to do the same. Rivan kept standing, his eyes were on Irlana and her movements.

"Good morning, Señor! And no issues," her eyes darted to the girl who sat along Xiran, she was visibly shaking as if trying to calm her nerves.

"This is Irlana, I want you to carry out the test between me and her," Xiran instructed, this hit Dr. Wanstine like a shock but she kept her emotions in check. She never asked questions, this was rule number one when it came down to Xiran.

"Sure," she opened the kit and took out two cotton swabs, and handed one each to them. She asked them to swab the inside of their cheeks. They did as were told and handed them back to her.

She took out two test tubes and separately added the swabs in them before sealing them shut. She then said:

"Tomorrow, you will receive the results."
