Endless Debt
Chapter 1118 - 123: Resilience
Oubos, Border Sanatorium.
Bologue got out of bed and drew the curtains, the dazzling sunlight streamed in, warming and dispelling Bologue’s drowsiness, as well as awakening the vitality within his heart, accompanied by a soft hum.
Palmer sleepily glanced at Bologue, hugged the blanket and turned his head, continuing to sleep with his back to the sunlight.
For Palmer’s appearance, Bologue was already accustomed, after all, it was a vacation period, so he let him rest.
Bologue stretched a bit, walked out of the ward, and for the Border Sanatorium, Bologue had become a regular visitor. It seemed that every so often, he would wake up here, like some kind of pattern.
But the current Border Sanatorium deviated a bit from the image in his memory. Typically, it was very quiet here, and there were few people walking around, but now it was extremely noisy and busy; just based on the noise, Bologue even thought he had returned to the Cultivation Room.
Doctors hurried through the corridors, and as Bologue passed by partially ajar doors, he could hear continuous groans. The air was thick with the smell of disinfectant and blood, this scent had been lingering for several days without dissipating.
To be precise, since Bologue arrived a week ago, this smell hadn’t dissipated.
Now it’s been a week since the gray tide smog engulfed the whole city. At the end of the battle, Fuen appeared and summoned a storm, bringing an end to the rampant mysterious epidemic. When everything calmed down, hectic processing work began.
The Logistics Department was in full swing, dealing with the aftermath of the collapse within the Great Rift, rescuing injured staff members. From what Bologue learned, in this incident, many field staff perished, and some were missing, still unaccounted for...
Everyone actually understood, most of the missing were likely dead, possibly falling into the depths of the Sea of Mist, or maybe consumed by the mysterious epidemic until their flesh was gone. That terrifying Extraordinary Disaster would forever be engraved in everyone’s hearts.
Everyone had their roles.
While the Logistics Department efficiently handled the aftermath, Bologue was carried into the Border Sanatorium... to be precise, all the field staff involved in the operation were brought in.
All the survivors suffered various degrees of injuries. These days while wandering around, Bologue often saw some familiar faces, all wrapped in bandages, with IV drips, and a few missing limbs.
According to the list, a large number of Condensers and Prayer Believers died, and two Negative Power Users fell during the conflict... those were two Negative Power Users from Group 10.
Group 10, with its large membership and wide range of responsibilities, had a higher overall strength than many action groups. When the mysterious epidemic broke out, they surrounded the outer rim of the Great Rift and directly collided with the remaining forces of the King’s Secret Sword.
When Bologue and others faced threats from Defenders and Seekers of Glory, these were just the high-tier forces within the King’s Secret Sword. Many Negative Power Users and Prayer Believers fought outwards for a breakout and battle.
After sacrificing two Negative Power Users and many Prayer Believers and Condensers, Group 10 successfully annihilated the remaining forces of the King’s Secret Sword.
The battlefield’s core was only just the core, outside the core, there was a vaster world where battles unseen by Bologue were taking place.
After the great war, the Order Bureau fell into a brief period of weakness. It was initially expected that greater chaos would erupt, but in reality, the situation was surprisingly peaceful during this time.
It’s understandable, in the madness of the mysterious epidemic, besides Xilin and the missing Third Seat, the King’s Shield Guards were almost entirely wiped out, even the Fog Abyss Fortress at the station collapsed.
The King’s Secret Sword was also severely damaged under Xilin’s fury, their vitality heavily wounded. Even if they wanted to take action, they lacked sufficient strength.
Compared to the two, the Order Bureau was the one relatively less harmed, and by exploiting the conflict between the two, the Order Bureau conducted a brutal cleansing of the Great Rift, even the Wandering Crossroad perished in the process.
In this conflict, the Order Bureau paid a bloody price. In stopping the further expansion of the disaster, they also resolved the potential crises within the Great Rift. The King’s Shield Guards almost gave all their lives, but they also brought back Xilin. The cost was painful, but it was worth it.
The King’s Secret Sword seemingly became the only loser, turning into a stepping stone for Xilin.
Bologue suddenly realized that this conflict, which seemed like a three-way brawl, was essentially a mutual exploitation between the Order Bureau and the King’s Shield Guards to weaken the threat of the King’s Secret Sword.
Bologue mused for a moment, recalling the Protection from the First Seat, and his twisted flesh, almost resembling Calamity, and felt a slight chill in his heart.
The Kagader Royal Family might have been corrupted by the Devil, which was why Xilin fled the royal family, filled with fiery revenge... if the Crimson Queen controlled the royal family and controlled the King’s Secret Sword...
Bologue suddenly realized something — this chaotic conflict might not have weakened the King’s Secret Sword at all; from the beginning, they misjudged the true strength of the King’s Secret Sword.
The power possessed by the Kagader Royal Family and the King of Slaughter was more than just the King’s Secret Sword — there was also the Scarlet Sect. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
"This is just the beginning..."
Bologue softly repeated Fuen’s words.
In this brief period of peace, everyone was accumulating strength, awaiting the next, even more frenzied and bloody conflict.
