Endless Evolution as a Centipede in a Game-Like World
Chapter 29: Revelation
[GoddessOfLust: @ApexHunter101 It’s worse than I first thought. Your life is in danger.]
The message was from the person who had helped me before, but it was so cryptic that it was hard to take seriously.
Meanwhile the hornet was scanning the room carefully before it entered. It was just a matter of time before I was spotted.
[ApexHunter101: @GoddessOfLust What do you mean by "dangerous"?]
[GoddessOfLust: @ApexHunter101 I’ve been doing some research on Kronus. It turns out that one of the reasons it was mainly left alone is because there was an S-ranked dungeon break.] 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
An S-ranked dungeon break?! So there are S-ranked dungeon monster loose in this territory?
[GoddessOfLust: @ApexHunter101 Where are you? Did you manage to make it out somehow?]
[ApexHunter101: @GoddessOfLust No, I haven’t. I’m currently in an F-ranked dungeon.]
[GoddessOfLust: @ApexHunter101 There is no F-ranked dungeon. Because of the sheer amount of mana released from the S-rank dungeon break, most of the dungeons in the area ranked up and underwent a dungeon break. To my knowledge, there shouldn’t be any F-ranked dungeons or F-ranked monsters in the territory.]
That didn’t make sense. The dungeon rats were F-ranked. The system confirmed it when I killed them.
Hmm... Now that I think about it, I should have questioned this dungeon more.
If the forest was an anomaly, then it stood to reason that the dungeon in the middle of the forest was one too.
Was this even a dungeon?
There were adventurers here, so clearly they knew about this dungeon in the middle of the forest.
But to get here, they had to cross the area with D-ranked worm beasts. Those adventurers from before were killed by F-ranked dungeon rats; there was no way they would survive against those monsters.
But even then, who would cross a land infested with D-ranked beasts just to get to an F-ranked dungeon?
This makes no sense...
[GoddessOfLust: @ApexHunter101 I also heard that the top guilds have banded together to send a massive party to defeat the S-ranked boss monster once and for all. Several powerful guild masters are set to face the monsters head on. The clash alone could result in castotrophic damages! I think it’s best you leave.]
What the hell did I land myself in? An S-ranked dungeon has never been cleared, and as the name suggests, an S-ranked dungeon also came with S-ranked monsters. I was currently struggling against F-ranked monsters, I can’t face S-Ranked beasts and chances are they would most like identify me as one of those monsters.
I can’t leave and yet I can’t stay so what the hell am I supposed to do?!
VRR!
Just then, as I contemplated the situation I found myself in, the hornet finally noticed my presence.
Its mandibles opened wide in a threatening fashion as it flew toward me.
In the same instant, I sprayed acid over its armor, but it did nothing to slow the beast’s speed.
At the last second, I swerved out of the way, causing its sharp stinger to penetrate the dungeon wall like a well-thrown dart.
I was right. Its stinger would be able to penetrate my exoskeleton without a doubt.
And my acid did nothing to its armor.
Maybe it had some kind of acid resistance skill?
The giant hornet pulled its stinger from the wall and used its powerful legs to push itself off as it cut through the air toward me.
At the last second, as its stinger was about to penetrate my exoskeleton, I moved out of its path while using my mold skill to create a stinger of my own.
I landed a perfectly placed strike to its neck, which was the least protected part of its body to allow for flexible movements.
Its head was the first to fall, then its body fell with it.
[You have slain an F-ranked level 2 flame hornet.]
[You have ascended to level 9 and gained 9 skill points.]
Hmm... Even the hornets are F-ranked monsters.
When the hornet first came here, it was scanning the room as if looking for something. My guess was that it was most likely looking for me. It must have sensed an intruder and acted to protect its colony.
One hornet I could handle, but facing an entire colony unprepared was out of the question.
If I tried another path to the dungeon monster, it could cost me a few days just searching, and when I found the path, I’d most likely have to deal with another type of monster.
The hornets were a problem, but just like the rats, I had to find a way to deal with them. The sooner I cleared this dungeon, the sooner I got answers.
[5 skill points have been spent to level up Acid Shot to level 5.]
[6 skill points have been spent to level up Acid Shot to level 6.]
Since my acid couldn’t melt through its armor before, I had no choice but to level up the skill if I wanted to consume it quickly.
[25 biomass gained.]
After spraying acid on the dead hornet, its thick, iron-like armor melted with ease, allowing me to devour what was left of the creature.
Afterward, I left the room without any hesitation as I escaped through one of the tunnels leading downward.
