Endless Extraction in a Game-Like World - Chapter 100: Mia’s Reason! Envoy of Heretic Gods
"Alright, why did you attack us?" Caelus sat on the edge of his bed. Next to him sat Sylvia, and tied up on a chair in front of them was Mia. She was bound by a special rope he had bought online, specifically designed to restrain Bronze players and completely seal their mana.
"Y-You are shameless." Mia looked around coldly, a small blush creeping up her neck. She still wore her tattered combat attire. Some parts were completely torn open due to their fierce fight, yet he had tied her up without giving her a change of clothes. And he did it in a bedroom of all places?
She had a terrible feeling about this. What if he did something vile to her? She became slightly flustered just thinking about it.
"No Caelus~" Sylvia, seeing Mia’s expression, became instantly annoyed. She immediately covered Caelus’s eyes with her soft hands. "You cannot look at her. She is a bad woman. If you want to look, then look at me. I have been drinking soy milk lately. The internet said it makes one’s chest grow bigger."
"..." Caelus’s lips twitched.
Why was this vampire’s head constantly filled with dirty thoughts? He lightly knocked on Sylvia’s head and gently pushed her hands away.
"Now, speak, Miss Mia. I do not have all day," Caelus said. "In fact, you should be grateful that I allowed you to live in the first place. You were completely dead set on killing me."
"You are an envoy of a heretic god. I have nothing to tell you," Mia stated coldly.
"But I am not," Caelus said helplessly. "And even if I was an envoy, what of it?"
"My master told me to eliminate you all," Mia said with a harsh glare. "Envoys of heretic gods like you have been spawning in this world left and right. The Holy Church has been working extra hard to keep them in check and ensure the safety of the citizens is upheld."
"But I am no heretic god’s envoy. What makes you think that?" Caelus frowned.
"That is what my master said. You are a potential heretic god candidate, and the sheer divine power I felt from you confirmed it."
"..." Caelus sighed heavily upon hearing this.
It looked like there was a massive misunderstanding here. The divine power most likely came from his Ancient Dragon God Fighting Spirit. This Fighting Spirit was most likely the primordial god created by the Ender of Origin. That was probably the exact reason why she felt divinity radiating from him.
"I am not a heretic god’s envoy. If I was, would I have left you alive? I could kill you easily right now," Caelus said casually.
He waved his hand, and sharp icicle shards materialized in the air, shooting directly toward her.
Mia’s face constricted in fear, but just before the icicles could pierce her, they instantly melted and splashed harmlessly onto the floor as water.
"See? If I wanted to kill you, I would have done so already."
"You... I know what you want. You want to seduce me first and make me let my guard down so you can defile me!" Mia became heavily flustered, her voice filled with a mix of shame and anger.
"Hey. Caelus is not like that," Sylvia spoke up with a vicious glare. "Do not speak badly about him."
"He politely agreed to come to that small outing with you, and then you proceeded to ambush him."
"If not for him showing mercy, you would not be breathing right now. You are just wasting our oxygen," Sylvia added with a chilling smile.
Mia fell silent upon hearing this. One part of her was still entirely unwilling to believe that this man was not a heretical envoy; the terrifying divinity she felt confirmed it. But another part of her logic told her that he really wasn’t. What they said was undeniable fact: if they truly wanted to kill her off, they could have done it already.
"Are you really not an envoy?" Mia asked with lingering uncertainty.
"If I was, I would have already done vile things to you," Caelus joked with a calm smile.
"..." Mia’s face violently heated up when she heard this.
Now that the lethal tension was over, she couldn’t help but feel incredibly embarrassed by her previous assumptions. However, she tried her best to maintain her cold facade so as not to show it completely.
Just then, the mansion’s doorbell rang out.
"Looks like people are here to get you." Caelus stood up and turned to Sylvia. "Untie her and give her a new set of clothes."
He then turned back to Mia. "Also, do not talk about any of this to your father."
"As for your master, we will have a proper talk about that another time."
As he said that, he walked out of the room and headed downstairs to open the front door.
"Caelus, where is Miss Mia?" Chairman Welt and City Lord Leon stood on his porch. Behind them was a disciplined row of black-uniformed soldiers.
"She is inside." Caelus sighed and stepped aside to let them in.
Soon, Mia came out, wearing fresh clothes provided by Sylvia. "I am fine, Dad."
"You kid. Why on earth did you fight with Caelus?" City Lord Leon asked with a stern frown.
"We just wanted to test out our combat scores. He said he was itching to fight me," Mia lied with a perfectly blank expression, pointing a finger directly at Caelus.
"???" Caelus’s expression instantly darkened.
Damn it, why was he being thrown under the bus for this?
"Even if that was the case, you both could have found a much better place to fight," Chairman Welt said with a heavy sigh. "You both are very talented. I get that. But you were doing massive structural damage to the city."
"I am sorry," Mia apologized formally.
Caelus sighed and also offered his own apologies. It remained a fact that they had destroyed a lot of public property. If he didn’t personally know Chairman Welt, he would have probably been arrested by law enforcement by now.
Soon, Mia and the City Lord said their farewells and left the mansion.
Now, only Chairman Welt remained behind.
"The matters related to the Ashborn family... they are finally ready. We plan on going to their estate with law enforcement to officially arrest the Patriarch. Would you like to come with us?"
Hearing this, Caelus’s expression turned incredibly serious.
It is finally time, huh, Caelus thought to himself.
Out of the many fragmented memories he had inherited from this body’s past, the Ashborn family publicly humiliating him was the most prominent and painful one.
He absolutely had to see that man get arrested with his own eyes.
Chairman Welt told him to meet up in an hour. Since he still had some free time, Caelus decided to check out the Dark Stones he had looted from the Darkspawns when they first invaded the city.
And coincidentally, they actually had an option for extraction.
