Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy
Chapter 3556: Godbreakers
"Godbreakers?" Bladedance asked with a strange look on her face. "What’s that?"
"A group that has recently emerged," the Sky God said. "I can’t tell you more about them since I don’t know myself, but they seem to follow in the footsteps of the Godkiller and Godslayer, in that they are here to be a controlling force for the gods. At least, that is what the person we captured said before they killed themselves."
Bladedance sighed. "It’s one issue after another, isn’t it?" she asked. "Are they dangerous?"
"They’ve hurt a few gods seriously," she said. "From what I understand, they went after the Spear God and the Defense God."
"So no Celestials," Bladedance said. "They must be a group of Divinities in that case. I wonder who is giving them the confidence to go after the gods."
"Who knows," the Sky God said with a sigh.
"Were the gods wounded?" Bladedance asked.
"They were. The Defense God managed to defend himself easily, but the Spear God struggled a little. It was one man against many, so it was hard for him to win at all. But he managed to escape," she said.
Bladedance nodded. "Then that should be relatively fine. The gods should move around with backups, especially the ones that can’t protect themselves."
The Sky God gave a lopsided smile. "I’m not so sure about that."
Bladedance frowned. "Why do you say that?"
The Sky God took a moment to look toward Alex, as if trying to determine if she should say anything in his presence or not. But in the end, she said it anyway.
"The Body God has gone missing for the better part of 2 millennia now. And according to the Divination God, there is a very high likelihood that he may have fallen to the Godbreakers."
Bladedance’s eyes widened. "Are you saying... they’ve killed a god?"
The Sky God nodded. "Unfortunately, that is exactly what I’m saying." She turned to Alex. "Do not let anyone else hear of this. We don’t plan on publicizing this news in case we are mistaken."
"Is he really dead, though? What if he’s just missing?" Bladedance asked.
"If he’s missing, he’s been missing for far too long. He’s shown himself in no world for the last 1500 years, which is odd. Furthermore, we’ve determined that his last Immortal Tribulation was over 10 thousand years ago, so it is time for him to go through it again. So he has to show up somewhere, but he hasn’t. The only likelihood in that case is that he was killed."
A god was a highly capable individual who certainly had tricks up his sleeve to escape from others if caught off-guard. If such a person was captured and killed, then the ones doing so had to be highly capable people.
"Do the other gods know about this?" Bladedance asked.
"Some of them do. I’m not sure if the information has spread or not after that," the Sky God said. "We might have to soon reveal it to everyone and start searching for a new one."
"I see. So there are 32 gods now. 31, if you count Purplerain," Bladedance said.
"I’m sorry. I have heard nothing about him since learning that he ran away from the Fatekeeper’s palace along with Starsight. I fear your information about them being the so-called Slayers was indeed true."
"It is true," Bladedance said. "That’s why we need to find each one of them, starting with Purplerain. In fact, we need to search for one more, but we don’t know enough about the person to start hunting them."
"Well, I don’t know what to tell you," the Sky God said. "Purplerain has completely hidden himself from the world, to the point that even the Divination God has no idea."
"The Divination God can’t see where he is?" Alex asked with a surprised look on his face. "Isn’t he supposed to be able to see everything?"
"Not even the Divination God can peer beyond the Heaven that easily," the Sky God said. "He struggles to see answers if they are not within the Heaven and starts rattling off prophecies instead, which hardly work for us."
Alex slowly nodded. It would be clearer if he could just tell them what was what instead of leaving behind cryptic messages. In fact, now that he knew the man was here, he planned to sit down and have him decipher all the prophecies so that there was no confusion anymore.
"Do I still have to wait 5 thousand years before I can be the Sword God again?" Bladedance asked.
"Not necessarily," the Sky God said. "During the next God council, I can propose the idea of making you the Sword God again. Enough people should agree to make the change happen."
Bladedance thanked her.
"So," the Sky God spoke while leaning onto her couch, "tell me more about these Slayers."
Bladedance gave what understanding she had of the group. The Slayers were a bunch of individuals that had come together with a unified selfish goal of gaining everything for themselves. All they wanted was power, and they didn’t care what they did to gain it.
"I wouldn’t be surprised if they were demonic cultivators at this point," Bladedance said. "They were involved in the Artifact God’s death, and now they were involved in sending me to Hell. If I were weaker, they might not have even bothered and just killed me instead."
The Sky God frowned.
There were certainly people out there that acted on their own goals rather than the group. It wasn’t hard to imagine such people existed. However, when they became a group that acted together to ruin any good thing, then that became a genuine issue.
While they sounded non-threatening considering the entire world and everything that happened in it, these Slayers would certainly be a problem if they were to infiltrate groups and cause internal strife.
Weeding them out before they ruined the crops was essential.
"Alright," she said. "I’ll see what I can find out about them. If possible, I will cull them all myself."
