Eternal Life: I Rely on Fortune Points for Improvement
Chapter 430 - 225: No Such Thing as a Perfect Snake in a Fit of Rage
Jiang Feng knew that anything could go wrong, but the Fortune Point could never be mistaken.
A sudden increase of over seven hundred thousand forced him to carefully consider everything.
"If the people from the Demon-Suppressing Martial Arts Hall discover someone entered their treasure vault through the pond, would they come looking here?"
Jiang Feng questioned the Little Cyan Snake.
Little Cyan Snake shook its head.
It left a line of words in the air: "Even if they turn over the entire Dragon Capital, they’ll never find us."
"The folks at the martial hall must already know we went in from the pond."
Jiang Feng speculated.
"Impossible. When they see the restriction array inside the pond, they’ll mistake it for the underground palace beneath the pond. They’ll never connect it to us."
Little Cyan Snake shook its head again.
"Can the restriction array left by your Cyan Snake Demon clan even compare to the Underground Palace Restriction Array?"
Jiang Feng snorted coldly.
Little Cyan Snake was momentarily speechless.
"I see."
Jiang Feng was startled by his own words.
"There must be a powerful mage guarding the martial hall. We nearly got caught by him."
Jiang Feng exclaimed in shock.
Only then would the Fortune Point have increased by so much in one swoop.
Otherwise, those two old cultivators could never pose any real danger to Jiang Feng; even if he disposed of them, the Fortune Point wouldn’t spike much at all.
"No way, there are no mages inside the hall. I sneak in and play there all the time. I know better than you."
Little Cyan Snake shook its head once again.
"Better safe than sorry. It’s not secure here, let’s change locations."
Jiang Feng thought it was safer to lie low for now.
"Change to where?"
"Nowhere’s safer than here."
Little Cyan Snake was unwilling.
Its head shook like a rattle-drum.
"I said move, so move! Why so much damn chatter?"
Jiang Feng snapped.
"No matter how you change, you won’t find anywhere safer than this. If you don’t believe me, do as you please."
Little Cyan Snake looked helpless.
"Wait a second."
Jiang Feng sensed something was off.
"See? Just stay here, nobody will ever find you."
Little Cyan Snake brightened, thinking Jiang Feng had changed his mind.
"Uh... what are you doing?"
But as it turned around, Little Cyan Snake was dumbstruck.
Jiang Feng had drawn the Dragon Bone Bow to the full moon, arrowhead locked onto Little Cyan Snake, and he interrogated: "Tell me—if I hadn’t left the martial hall’s treasure vault sooner, would I have ended up in the hands of your Cyan Snake Demon clan by now?"
"You’re overthinking it. That’s not even—"
Little Cyan Snake tried to explain.
"Boom!"
Jiang Feng shot an arrow—it smashed into the rocky wall of the tunnel behind Little Cyan Snake, the arrow shadow pierced through, the stone exploded, and buried deep was the Underground Palace Restriction Array, which wavered under the force of the shot.
"Stop lying, or die!"
Jiang Feng’s face was icy cold.
"Young friend, my Cyan Snake Demon clan bears you no ill will."
Outside the tunnel, a hoarse voice rang out.
A massive figure appeared at the mouth of the cave.
It slowly drew closer.
It turned out to be a giant Cyan Snake, a hundred meters long and two or three meters thick.
The huge snake spoke human words.
Its head poked into the cave, so enormous it seemed to block the entire entrance.
"Sss sss sss!"
Little Cyan Snake flicked its forked tongue.
Its face full of excitement and grievance.
"So it’s true—you brought danger to me."
Jiang Feng’s expression grew ugly.
He hadn’t expected it; he’d been played by Little Cyan Snake after all.
From the very start, he’d been confused. With the strength of the Demon-Suppressing Martial Arts Hall, aside from the old master he’d never met, there shouldn’t have been anyone able to threaten him.
And yet, the Fortune Point had soared by over seven hundred thousand.
Turns out, the danger wasn’t inside the martial hall, but right here at the entrance, in the form of this big Cyan Snake.
Jiang Feng instantly understood what was going on.
Little Cyan Snake must have used its racial talent to secretly contact the big Cyan Snake at some point, lured him into the treasure vault, so the big Cyan Snake could trap him like a rat in a jar.
Unexpectedly—
The clang of a blade in the treasure vault shocked Jiang Feng into escaping early, so by the time the big Cyan Snake arrived, he and Little Cyan Snake were already back in the tunnel.
So, Little Cyan Snake simply summoned the big Cyan Snake here to the tunnel, and only started making excuses when he heard Jiang Feng wanted to leave.
And that was exactly what raised Jiang Feng’s suspicions.
After all, with Little Cyan Snake being held captive, he should have feared most Jiang Feng hiding out somewhere dark and hidden where nobody could find him. Why, upon hearing he was about to leave, would it become so reluctant?
"Young friend, our Cyan Snake Demon clan has always left the Human Race alone. You are gifted, destined for greatness. I have no wish to be your enemy. Instead, I hope to forge a bond of goodwill. So, could you please let my little grandson go?"
The big Cyan Snake spoke as it transformed into a green-robed old man leaning on a cane.
His tone was unhurried, his expression kindly and gentle.
"Don’t move. Step back. Or I’ll show no mercy if my arrow flies!"
Jiang Feng growled coldly.
He was no naïve child to be placated so easily.
What nonsense about forging goodwill—if that’s all they wanted, why lure him into the treasure vault in the first place? With the big Cyan Snake and the martial hall people attacking from both sides, even with the Dragon Bone Bow, Jiang Feng would’ve struggled to escape.
Not to mention, the seventy thousand Fortune Points still burned vividly in his mind.
Jiang Feng knew better than anyone whether the big Cyan Snake bore him ill will.
"Heh heh heh, alright, alright."
The green-robed elder retreated a few steps.
"You let me go, and my grandpa won’t cause you trouble."
Little Cyan Snake begged for mercy.
"I ought to have killed you with an arrow from the very start."
Jiang Feng said through gritted teeth.
And to the green-robed elder: "What will you give me in exchange for your little grandson’s life?"
"Young friend, becoming an ally of our Cyan Snake Demon clan is surely better than..."
The green-robed elder tried to persuade Jiang Feng.
Jiang Feng didn’t want to hear another word from the old man. He pulled the Dragon Bone Bow to its limit; he had no idea what sort of power the green-robed elder possessed.
