Eternal Thief
Chapter 1609: Hunt for Treasures! (4)
Within the hierarchy of the Corpse Clan, Abyssal Lords stood only below Quasi-Abyssal Lords and Grand Abyssal Lords, and they were considered mid-high authorities within a legion.
Because of this position, Dargoth had access to information that ordinary guardians would never see, and with the help of this information, Ace quickly learned several important things.
First was the distribution of powerful cultivators within the Ninth Bone Legion. Each division of the legion had its own territories where Abyssal Guardians, Abyssal Lords, and higher authorities cultivated.
Dargoth himself was responsible for overseeing a section of these divisions. Through those connections, Ace now knew the approximate locations where stronger Corpse Cultivators normally resided.
However, what interested him even more were the treasure repositories, as Varcor had known about some repositories as well, but those were only minor ones used by elite legion soldiers and lower-ranking cultivators.
Dargoth’s memories revealed something far more valuable. Apparently, there existed higher-tier repositories reserved specifically for Abyssal Lords and above.
Even more interesting, these repositories were shared between all divisions of the Ninth Bone Legion. They were essentially communal treasure vaults used to store valuable resources and distribute them to high-ranking members.
When Ace discovered this, a faint smile appeared on his lips, because it meant the amount of treasure stored inside would be enormous, and he didn’t need to steal it from separate points.
However, as Ace continued searching through Dargoth’s memories, a trace of disappointment soon appeared. Because even Dargoth knew nothing about the core of the Undead Boundary.
In fact, according to his memories, he had never even heard of such a thing, for within the Corpse Clan, the Undead Boundary was believed to be an omnipotent blessing bestowed by their legendary Undead Ancestor.
It was not viewed as a formation; instead, it was seen as a divine protection granted to their race. Dargoth believed this completely, and he was not alone, for nearly the entire Corpse Clan held the same belief.
To them, questioning the origin of the Undead Boundary would be equivalent to questioning their own ancestor.
Yet while most of the Corpse Clan never doubted it, Ace was different, as he continued digging through the memories, something suddenly caught his attention.
There was a place mentioned in several rumors among the higher ranks. A mysterious region located somewhere near the heart of the Lover Grave Strata.
It was known simply as the Blessed Land, and according to the rumors, only a single individual in the entire Corpse Clan had the authority to enter that place.
The Corpse Governor!
The highest authority of the Corpse Clan within the Undead Boundary, and not even the Corpse Commanders were allowed to approach the Blessed Land.
In fact, something about the Corpse Governor was extremely strange. According to Dargoth’s memories, almost no one had ever seen him personally.
Dargoth had once heard a rumor that even the Corpse Commanders themselves had never met the governor face to face, and all orders from the governor were delivered remotely.
But the Corpse Clan never questioned it, for them, the governor was an existence blessed by the Undead Ancestor, a supreme authority beyond doubt.
However, when Ace saw this memory, his eyes slowly narrowed, because to him it sounded far too suspicious, and a single thought quietly surfaced in his mind.
’Could this be it?’
Ace was certain that this ’Blessed Land’ might be the place he had been searching for, but if this was true, then he would have a massive problem, as his expression turned grim just thinking about it.
’Since this place is the location where the Corpse Governor resides, doesn’t this mean I would encounter him if somehow I managed to infiltrate it? Corpse Governor might not be an Abyssal King, but he’s an extremely powerful Half-Abyssal King, with a corpse vessel probably even more terrifying than Belfast.
’Moreover, if the Corpse Governor is in that location, he might also have some authority over the Undead Boundary, or worse...its ownership? But the chances of it happening are lowest because if he had any control over it, the Corpse Clan wouldn’t be cornered into this place by the Evernight Council.
’But whatever the case is, I have to get the formation one way or another, and now that question is how should I proceed...’ Ace mused with a hint of urgency.
The Lower Grave Strata right now was in its most vulnerable state as everyone’s focus was on the Great Corpse Carnival, and even the Corpse Governor should be paying attention; that’s why this was the perfect time for him to strike.
Ace had many ways to bypass high-grade formations while locks couldn’t block him, but he didn’t know where to start.
If he goes after the Undead Boundary first, he’ll most likely encounter the Corpse Governor and will not be able to get any treasures from the Corpse Clan. But if he went after the treasures first, and wasn’t discovered right away...
Ace’s eyes flickered with a hint of a brilliant light. ’The repositories within Dargoth’s memoires are called the Central Repository, and according to his memoires, this repository exists within the Undead Boundary from the start.
’Furthermore, this repository should be some high-grade formation or treasure because it was extremely vast, and all the repository points within the Corpse Clan should be connected to it. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
’Lastly, the Central Repository seemed to have a mind of its own, yet no one had ever seen any treasure spirit. Nonetheless, the Central Repository has its own independent system which consists of a trading system, a security system, and an anti-theft system...’
Ace thought solemnly, and suddenly a thievish light flashed past his eyes, ’But that’s strange because no one in the Corpse Clan had dared to steal from it before, yet there is still individual security on those repository points...why is that?
’I can only thing for few reasons behind it. It might be that the Corpse Clan is wary of their own and wants to deter everyone, and there’s nothing wrong with it. Or could it be there’s something wrong with the powerful Security System of the Central Repository, and they don’t want anyone to find out!’
