Several students stiffened as Selene’s crimson eyes swept over them.

"You have two hours," she said, voice cold and indifferent. "Survive."

BOOM.

The massive gates behind them slammed shut with a deafening echo. The sound of finality.

Shouts of panic erupted instantly.

"What the hell?!"

"They locked us in?!"

"Are you serious?!"

While the freshmen lost their composure, Logan remained still, his silver hair shifting slightly in the stale wind.

His sharp gaze swept across the ruined cityscape, collapsed buildings, narrow alleys, elevated ruins, and potential escape routes. Every detail catalogued in a heartbeat.

Then came the roar.

ROOOAR!

A mutated wolf, nearly three meters tall, exploded through the wall of a half-destroyed building. Crimson eyes burned with feral hunger. Several girls screamed as the creature landed heavily, claws gouging deep trenches into the concrete.

"MOVE!" someone shouted.

Chaos swallowed the courtyard.

Students scattered in every direction, some firing off panicked Origin abilities, others simply running for their lives. Logan, however, stepped aside with calm precision, just as the wolf’s massive claws smashed into the ground where he had been standing.

The impact sent cracks spiderwebbing outward.

Its movements were fast, but wild. Predictable.

Logan flowed forward, grabbed the beast by the thick fur of its neck mid-lunge, and used its own momentum against it. A brief resistance met his grip as the creature twisted violently, forcing Logan’s stance to adjust.

But he still redirected it into a nearby wall.

CRASH!

The wolf smashed through concrete and rebar, disappearing in a cloud of dust.

Before the dust even settled, more monsters began pouring out, twisted wolves, hulking bear-like creatures, and things that didn’t belong in any natural world. Screams and explosions filled the air as the simulation truly began.

Yet Logan moved through the madness like a ghost.

His twin daggers hovered around him, spinning rapidly through the air via spatial telekinesis. They carved through anything that dared approach, leaving trails of blood and severed limbs. His expression never changed. Not excitement. Not fear. Just quiet focus.

Until danger prickled at the back of his neck.

SHING!

Logan tilted his head at the last possible moment. A rapier sliced through the air where his neck had been, close enough to cut a few silver strands of hair.

He stopped.

Slowly, he turned.

Ethan stood ten meters away, rapier raised, eyes burning with cold, calculated killing intent.

"You’re really trying to kill me?" Logan asked, voice low and almost curious.

Ethan didn’t waste words.

He vanished forward in a burst of speed, rapier thrusting like a silver streak. His SS-rank Origin Ability, Weapon Mastery, activated in full. Every movement Logan had ever shown him had been studied, dissected, and memorized.

But this time, Logan’s eyes narrowed slightly.

Ethan’s first strike didn’t aim where Logan was, but where he would evade.

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!

Three daggers intercepted the rapier in rapid succession, but the final impact carried enough force to push Logan half a step back.

Ethan clicked his tongue in irritation. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

"I’ve studied you," he said coldly. "Your patterns. Your timing. Your gaps. I don’t need to be stronger than you. I just need one mistake."

He lunged again, faster this time, adjusting mid-motion, clearly refining his prediction.

Logan’s gaze sharpened.

In the next instant, he disappeared.

Clink.

A gold coin shattered behind Ethan.

BOOM!

A devastating fist slammed into Ethan’s spine. The force exploded the air from his lungs as his body lurched forward. Before he could recover.

BANG!

A second strike snapped his head sideways. Blood flew from his mouth as he tumbled across the broken street.

Ethan pushed himself up, coughing blood, eyes now less confident.

"You—"

Clink.

Another coin shattered.

Logan reappeared right in front of him.

Ethan reacted this time, barely managing to twist his body.

CRACK!

The knee grazed his ribs instead of fully breaking through, but still sent him skidding back several meters.

He reformed his stance instantly, breathing heavier.

Logan tilted his head slightly.

"Better," he said.

Ethan’s eyes narrowed. He thrust again, faster, sharper, deliberately forcing Logan to commit.

Logan caught the blade with his bare hand.

CRACK.

The rapier bent like cheap tin under his grip.

Ethan’s eyes widened.

Logan leaned down, voice low and ice-cold.

"Accidents happen, right?"

BANG!

The final blow landed cleanly. Ethan’s body launched across the ruins like a ragdoll, bouncing once before slamming hard into a broken wall. He didn’t get up.

A heavy silence fell over the battlefield.

Even the monsters hesitated for a split second, as if registering something had shifted.

The students who had witnessed the beatdown stood frozen, mouths open. Ethan wasn’t some weakling. He was one of the strongest freshmen, an SS-rank ability user. Yet he had been dismantled.

Far above, in the monitoring room, Selene’s gaze lingered.

Her expression didn’t show surprise.

Instead, a faint flicker of interest passed through her eyes, subtle and sharp.

...

Ttime gradually dragged on.

The survival test wasn’t too difficult since the beasts present were only rank 2. For now.

It soon concluded and after that they finished their combat practice.

Everyone was exhausted after the events of the day. And they had also similarly finally understood what level everyone was at.

Especially whenever their eyes drifted toward Logan.

The ranking arena had already been prepared by the time they arrived.

A massive circular platform stood at the center while holographic screens floated overhead displaying rankings and student profiles.

Selene calmly stepped forward.

"Ranking battles begin now."

The surrounding students immediately focused.

"Anyone may challenge anyone."

"But once a challenge is accepted, no one else may interfere until the match concludes."

A brief silence followed.

Then a feminine voice drifted over...

"I challenge him."

Every gaze immediately shifted.

Luna stood quietly near the edge of the arena.

She didn’t look particularly intimidating standing there.

If anything, she appeared strangely ordinary compared to the others.

Yet after today, nobody dared underestimate students within the special class anymore.

Selene glanced toward Logan and was slightly surprised that the little girl had chosen him.

"Do you accept the challenge?" Selene turned to logan.

"Yes."

Logan answered immediately without hesitation.

Several students instantly reacted.

Especially those who had intended to challenge Logan themselves.

But Selene raised her hand calmly before anyone could speak.

"The match is locked."

"No further challenges will be accepted for Logan until this battle concludes."
