Extreme Almightiest Young Master
Chapter 2302 - 2281: Out of the Desert
Two hundred miles, yellow sand!
Five hundred miles, yellow sand!
A thousand miles, yellow sand!
...
The purple sun hung in the east, about to slowly descend, and below it, the boundless desert reflected the flickering purple glow against the sunset. It was as if a sense of mysterious eeriness was slowly approaching.
Seeing the sunset fall from the east, Lin Feng was amazed at how strange this world was. It was entirely different from the usual world. Not only was the sun purple, but it didn’t set in the west as normal. He tugged at the several meters long whiskers of the demon beast and asked, "Which direction does this sun usually rise and set?"
"Which direction does it rise and set? Of course, it rises in the east and sets in the east!" Upon hearing Lin Feng’s question, the demon beast was at a loss, wondering if this human’s brain was damaged asking such absurd questions. Was it because of their recent fight that this human went crazy? But that couldn’t be the reason since it was it that got injured!
Seeing the demon beast’s response, Lin Feng knew that in this world, the sun always rose and set in the east, and he was quite surprised, unable to figure out why the sun rose and set in the east. Then he recalled the deity mentioned by the demon beast earlier and asked, "What was the God’s Citizens you mentioned just now?"
"God’s Citizens are God’s Citizens." The demon beast replied, muttering to itself whether this human truly didn’t know or was just pretending not to know.
"Besides God’s Citizens, are there other levels of existence here?" Finding the demon beast’s response unsatisfactory, Lin Feng felt somewhat speechless.
"I don’t know; I’ve only encountered God’s Citizens once!" The demon beast replied straightforwardly, thinking this human’s head must have issues, constantly asking these irrelevant questions.
Lin Feng was at a loss for words by the demon beast’s answer. He realized that this demon beast wasn’t very bright and decided not to dwell on these questions. Looking at the endless desert ahead, he casually asked, "Will the end of this desert be the human habitat?"
"I don’t know, just know there’ll be a green forest ahead." The demon beast, perhaps tired, slowed down a bit, gasping for breath, healing the wounds it had just suffered, and responded absentmindedly to Lin Feng.
"Why don’t you know anything? Every question gets an ’I don’t know’." Hearing once again such a somewhat useless answer, Lin Feng felt speechless at this big demon beast knowing nothing.
The demon beast, criticized for knowing nothing, felt a bit aggrieved and helplessly replied, "I’ve been here in this desert all along, haven’t been anywhere else, how could I know much."
"Why don’t you leave?" Hearing the demon beast couldn’t leave, Lin Feng followed up, thinking this carnivorous beast should often venture out for food, but not leaving was indeed strange.
"Leave? Where would I go? With my abilities, who could I defeat?" Hearing Lin Feng ask why it didn’t leave, the demon beast shuddered, stopped, and looked back with its enormous red eyes saying, "Usually staying here honestly is good enough, occasionally sneaking a snack is great."
"Is there only one demon beast in this desert, have you never heard anything from other demon beasts?" Hearing the demon beast’s reply, Lin Feng thought it wasn’t surprising for the demon beast to not know much.
"Not at all. There are three demon beasts in this desert altogether, but their rankings are similar to mine." By now, the demon beast had turned and started running, answering in a slightly tense voice, "No one dares to leave, afraid of becoming a meal for other demon beasts accidentally."
"You’re all a bunch of cowards." Hearing the demon beast’s answer, Lin Feng laughed and called out the demon beast.
Feeling provoked by Lin Feng, the demon beast angrily replied, "Who’s a coward? Isn’t it because there’s too little live prey to eat usually? I saw you earlier and thought of eating you, not only to satisfy my cravings but also to greatly enhance my strength."
"So, you think I ruined your opportunity?" Hearing the demon beast’s comment, Lin Feng tugged at the demon beast’s whiskers with both hands and smiled lightly, finding its unwillingness quite amusing.
Suddenly pulled, the demon beast was in immense pain, almost collapsing and hurriedly begged for forgiveness, "Oh no, not, not, I was just excited."
Seeing this, Lin Feng decided not to tease the demon beast anymore and released the whiskers.
The Demon Beast rubbed the base of its whiskers with its front paws while glancing at Lin Feng on its back. Seeing Lin Feng silent, it began to run steadily in the desert, wishing for the desert to end quickly so it wouldn’t have to endure the Human’s whims anymore.
Suddenly, the Demon Beast started sprinting wildly in the desert, stirring up waves of sand around them. A Human and a Demon Beast traveled further and further away in the sky full of swirling sand.
...
It was unclear how long they had been running; it seemed like a long time, yet the eastern sunset remained low, and the entire sky exuded a faint dark purple hue. The endless dunes in the distance looked like deep-colored hills standing there under the setting sun.
Throughout this journey on the Demon Beast’s back, Lin Feng had been contemplating many things. He needed to quickly adapt to this world and strengthen his power.
At this moment, the Demon Beast, still complaining internally about when it would see the green forest, glanced ahead without enthusiasm and suddenly noticed the green forest hundreds of miles away, feeling immensely excited in its heart. That damned green forest was finally approaching, and it exclaimed excitedly, "It’s coming, almost there!"
Immediately, the Demon Beast entered a berserk state and sprinted away, finally free from Human torment, no longer needing to carry the Human in this scorching weather. Speeding like a flying shadow, it raced towards the green forest ahead.
...
In the time it takes to brew a cup of tea, the Demon Beast suddenly halted its front legs, standing a hundred feet away from the desert’s edge, panting heavily and twisting its body, loudly saying, "You... You’d better get off, just want to stay on my back forever, huh?"
"Mm, lying on this back is indeed very comfortable. How about coming with me?" Upon hearing the Demon Beast’s confident voice, Lin Feng wondered why the Demon Beast suddenly became so arrogant when they reached the place.
Upon hearing Lin Feng’s words, the Demon Beast was instantly frightened and shivered, silently praying that it wouldn’t be dragged inside, not wanting to experience the dangers within. While rubbing Lin Feng’s shoulder with its whiskers, it said in a flattering voice, "Hehe! I’m just not going in to make trouble; you go ahead and experience it alone."
Lin Feng then jumped off the Demon Beast’s back, looking at the forest a hundred feet ahead, speaking lightly to the Demon Beast, "You seem so eager to distance yourself from me, there’s still a hundred feet to go, and you’ve let me down already?"
"Well... You just walk the remaining distance by yourself!" The Demon Beast humbly said while quietly moving backward, ready to run at any moment, afraid that Lin Feng would actually drag it into the forest.
"Alright, I’m not taking you in, seeing you terrified like this." Witnessing the Demon Beast’s cautious behavior, Lin Feng instantly felt there must be something odd making it so scared.
The Demon Beast felt relieved hearing Lin Feng say he wasn’t taking it in. Thankfully, thankfully, although Lin Feng wouldn’t take it inside, the forest’s edge was still too intimidating to approach. It then said, "I wouldn’t dare go near that place, what if someone sniffs me out and eats me, I’d be terribly unlucky."
"Okay, you can leave quickly then! Otherwise, I might need to save you later." Lin Feng looked at the Demon Beast before him, finding it truly adorable. Seeing it so frightened, he decided not to tease it further and let it go.
"Okay... okay, I’ll leave now." Hearing Lin Feng say he could go, the Demon Beast immediately felt joyful, its life finally free from various threats. Turning around, it instantly sprinted away like a blue shadow.
Lin Feng watched the Demon Beast turning and fleeing like a clown escaping in panic, shaking his head helplessly, wondering if the place was really so terrifying to make the Demon Beast so fearful.
He then turned to face the mountains ahead, layer upon layer of forests stacked, each mountain taller than the last, with the final row rising into the clouds like Sky-Supporting swords, seemingly taller than him, so tall that the peaks were out of sight.
Looking at the mountains before him, green, white, and red trees intercrossed, some with branches and leaves, both long and short, but all had one thing in common—the branches and leaf colors matched each respective tree color.
Of course, within these mountain ranges, there were also unique trees—trees lacking branches and leaves, yet blooming brilliantly pink flowers. Sometimes, birds passing over the mountains would show signs of tension when approaching the flowering trees, suddenly soaring upwards.
Occasionally strange bird calls sounded, and trees in the forest shook constantly; after a few moments, everything returned to calm. Layers of floating white mist between the mountains made the unseen high mountains appear even more ethereal.
What was even more extraordinary were some seemingly ordinary trees that, when accompanied by bird calls, emanated waves of mysterious aura, powerful as the breath of some animal, giving off an intimidating feeling.
Taking in these sights and sensing the mysterious aura, the unusual beast calls, Lin Feng felt a hint of difference in the forest, slightly furrowing his brow, moving forward, and soon arriving at the edge of the forest, casually finding a gap between the trees and slipping in.
