Extreme Spirit Chaos Technique
Chapter 215 - 210: Thunder Dragon Spear
Watching He Long walk straight out from among the Holy Hall Students and onto the arena, Mu Chen frowned to himself. ’He has no intention of asking for permission,’ he thought. ’This is clearly just a provocation.’
"I’ve only just arrived at the Xuanling Imperial Academy, and I’m already witnessing an attempt to poach one of our own," He Long said. "As a member of the Holy Hall, I believe it’s my duty to step in and stop this."
He Long’s words made Mu Chen’s brow furrow even tighter. He’d disliked this He Long from the very beginning, for no other reason than what Di Cang had told him a month ago.
"I’m the challenger and you’re accepting the challenge. Of course you can try to stop me. Enough talk. Let’s begin."
Di Cang’s guess had been completely correct. Whenever a matter involved Mu Bingling, Mu Chen would lose his usual rationality and judgment. Right now, for instance, he was clearly growing impatient.
He Long flicked his sleeves and looked at Mu Chen with a smirk. "Let me make one thing clear. I am a Thunder Attribute, Third-Ring Martial King. So that no one can accuse me of bullying the weak, I won’t use a weapon. How does that sound?"
Mu Chen said, "Do as you please."
"Heh, you really think you’re so special for being capable of Tier Jumping, don’t you? Today, I’ll show you just how vast the gap is between a Martial King and a Martial Spirit."
With that, He Long’s expression hardened. He suddenly clenched his fists, and a series of CRACKLING thunderous sounds erupted from within his body. Immediately after, immense thunder descended from the sky, striking him and completely enveloping his figure in Thunder Light. A violent surge of Primordial Power erupted from He Long’s position, sweeping out for a thousand meters in all directions. The next moment, his body floated into the air. Countless finger-thick silver bolts of lightning roamed and flickered within him, occasionally letting out sharp, SIZZLING hisses.
Beneath his feet, three cyan Martial Rings instantly materialized. At the same moment they appeared, a pair of Lightning Wings extended from his back, growing to a length of three meters before stopping.
He Long hovered in the air, looking down at Mu Chen. His eyes were completely silver-white, making him look like a descending Thunder God. Mu Chen gazed up at him in surprise, a flicker of danger pricking his senses. The presence of that dangerous aura forced Mu Chen to the conclusion that he would have to reveal his full strength.
’Looks like I can’t take this fight lightly,’ Mu Chen thought. ’In that case, I’ll go all out.’
With that thought, Mu Chen reached back, grabbed the Profound Jade Box on his back, and yanked it free. With a flash of black light, the Profound Jade Box landed on the ground with a BOOM, shaking the entire arena.
Mu Chen had never mentioned it before, but his Profound Jade Box now weighed fifty thousand jin. It was only natural for such a weight to have this effect when dropped.
He Long, still in the air, glanced at the long, black box with a hint of shock in his eyes. As a Martial King, despite his youth, he could roughly judge an object’s weight. From that boom alone, he could tell the black box weighed at least thirty thousand jin. If that was the case, then the terrifying speed Mu Chen had just displayed was his speed while *suppressed*. Without that burden, Mu Chen’s speed would be even more astonishing.
Moreover, removing such a heavy burden increased not only speed but also one’s terrifying Explosive Power. At this thought, He Long’s expression grew solemn. ’Could this guy have Innate Divine Power?’
This thought only strengthened He Long’s resolve to eliminate Mu Chen. To prevent any unexpected turns, he immediately flapped his Lightning Wings and shot toward Mu Chen, moving as fast as a thunderbolt.
A CRACK of thunder echoed from above. Mu Chen looked up to see He Long’s figure streaking toward him, trailing a long tail of electricity. Without a second thought, Mu Chen activated the Taotie Seal. Two red Talismans rapidly spiraled around his arms, and a Flame Vortex instantly materialized under his control.
"Blast Fist!!!"
With a great shout, Mu Chen threw his fist viciously toward the descending He Long. Alarmed that Mu Chen had immediately resorted to a Combat Skill, He Long decisively pulled back his own fist, which was wreathed in Thunder Light. Instead, he leaned back, pointed his feet toward Mu Chen, and began to spin at high speed.
"Thunder Light Spin!"
Following He Long’s low shout, his rapidly spinning body, crackling with thunder, generated an immense destructive force. It even felt as if the surrounding space was being torn apart. The Thunder Attribute truly lived up to its name as the Destruction Attribute!
The entire exchange happened in the blink of an eye. The other students couldn’t even see how the two had clashed. All they saw was a mass of crimson light radiating scorching heat collide in mid-air with a lightning hurricane that reeked of destruction.
BOOM!!!
The deafening explosion was followed by a monstrous wave of Thunder Flame. Everyone had assumed at least one of the combatants would be heavily injured by the blow. But just as they waited for a figure to emerge from the flames, another powerful surge of Primordial Power erupted from within.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The shockwaves of Primordial Power from the repeated blows instantly dispersed the Thunder Flame, revealing the two fighters furiously clashing within. Mu Chen had now completely released his Taotie Seal, and with the Profound Jade Box removed, each of his attacks sent He Long flying back a great distance.
With a single step, a fine arc of electricity trailed from the tip of Mu Chen’s foot like a thunderous tail. In a WHOOSH, he appeared before He Long, leaving a tangible-looking afterimage in his place. He raised his left arm and clenched his fist, and a CRACKLE of Thunder Light instantly converged upon it. His entire fist was now tightly enveloped in a gleam of thunder.
"Thunderbolt Fist!"
He threw the punch, and with a SIZZLE, a dazzling streak of Thunder Light shot straight for He Long’s chest. The silver light in He Long’s eyes flashed as he swiftly crossed his hands before his chest, forming them into reverse claws. Dense arcs of thunder danced at his fingertips. As Mu Chen’s fist closed in, He Long roared without a second thought, "Thunder Dragon Sharp Claw!"
He swiped his hands through the air. Two intersecting claw marks made of thunder materialized from nothing and shot viciously toward Mu Chen. The Thunder Claws were five or six meters long, and in their rapid assault, they quickly collided with Mu Chen’s Thunderbolt Fist. Another blinding flash erupted, the intense silver-white light completely obscuring everyone’s vision. It was a long moment before their sight returned to normal.
But when their vision cleared, they saw that the two combatants in the air had not resumed fighting. Instead, they stood opposite one another, simply staring each other down.
He Long spat a mouthful of bloody saliva. "Ptooey." He rolled his shoulders and said grimly, "I was careless. I didn’t expect you to escape the Thunder Dragon Sharp Claw’s attack so quickly."
Mu Chen clutched his own chest, took a deep breath, and replied, "Likewise."
Just as his Thunderbolt Fist had made contact with He Long’s Thunder Dragon Sharp Claw, Mu Chen had used Elemental Power Materialization to create an angled foothold in mid-air. At the very instant of the explosion, he used that foothold to launch himself out of the attack’s range, flashing to He Long’s side and viciously planting a fist into his back.
Who could have known He Long’s combat experience was so rich, though? In the instant he was sent flying by Mu Chen’s blow, he managed to abruptly turn and land a kick on Mu Chen’s chest. Both were sent flying backward, but Mu Chen had clearly gained the upper hand in the exchange.
He Long twisted his shoulder and said in a low, dangerous voice, "Fine. I’ll get serious. I said I wouldn’t use a weapon, but it seems you’ve earned the right for me to draw it. How rare, to find someone like you in a Low-class Empire. If I hadn’t shown up, the Xuanling Empire might have actually had a chance to rise. But that’s a shame, isn’t it? Because in the coming battle, I will make sure to cripple you. You’re too much of a threat!"
After speaking, He Long flipped his wrist, and one of the two rings on his hand began to flash. He raised his arm high, palm open to the heavens. The bright, daytime sky suddenly darkened as lightning began to gather from all directions. In moments, the bolts converged into a massive streak of lightning that resonated with He Long’s ring. Then, as if a miracle were unfolding, a three-finger-wide bolt of blue lightning descended from the sky, slamming into He Long’s palm with a BANG.
But then, something astonishing happened. As is common knowledge, the human body is a conductor; a lightning strike should have coursed down He Long’s arm and through his entire body. Instead, after striking his palm, the blue lightning extended out from either side of his hand, growing to a length of nearly five meters before it stopped.
This was only the beginning. The extended bolts of lightning twisted several times, suddenly transforming. As they coiled and wound together, they took the distinct shape of a dragon composed of dense Thunder Light. The image was blurry, but it was unmistakably a dragon.
ROAR!!!
Following a dragon’s roar, He Long suddenly gripped the three-finger-thick bolt of lightning with his right hand and gave it a sharp flick. The Thunder Light completely receded, revealing a five-meter-long, three-finger-thick, dragon-headed spear. The entire weapon was blue. The spearhead was a massive, furious-looking dragon’s head, its cavernous mouth agape as if in endless rage. From within that mouth, a three-inch-long blade shot out with a VING. The shaft itself was engraved with a Dragon Body and Dragon Tail; upon closer inspection, it looked as if a True Dragon were coiled around the weapon.
Tightly held in He Long’s grasp, the spear began to emit a faint hum, as if excited to finally see the outside world. The sensation sent a shiver through Mu Chen’s heart.
’Could it be...’
Di Cang stiffened. Staring at the spear, he exclaimed, "That’s a Spiritual Treasure Soldier!"
Mu Chen, of course, heard Di Cang’s exclamation. He frowned. ’So it really is a Spiritual Treasure Soldier.’
He Long lovingly caressed the spear’s shaft and said with an air of indifference, "I’m surprised someone in this tiny Xuanling Empire actually recognizes a Spiritual Treasure Soldier. Not bad. This is indeed a Spiritual Treasure Soldier. However, it has a much more resonant name: the Thunder! Dragon! Spear!"
