Family Cultivation: I Become a Mirror
Chapter 350 - 323 Ximing Receives the Talisman
Li Yuanjiao led several youngsters up the mountain and stopped in front of the rear courtyard. The formation before them glowed with a lustrous white light. Li Xijun’s face was filled with hope as he tugged at Li Ximing’s hand and whispered,
"Third Brother, isn’t it said by everyone that our family possesses a blue and white Immortal Sword...?"
"I don’t know."
Li Ximing furrowed his small brows. His features were well-formed and pleasant to look at, but they appeared rather plain next to Li Xijun’s as he replied,
"Anyway, I have never been to this courtyard in all my years at home."
"It’s the ancestral hall."
Li Xizhi, who stood aside wrapped in brocade robes, spoke softly. He was much older than his two brothers, who only reached up to his waist. He explained gently,
"After Xihong and I completed our spiritual sense examination, we were brought here to recognize our ancestors and memorize our clan history."
The two children suddenly realized, while Li Xihong stood in the forefront, silent. Li Yuanjiao performed the hand seals and used his magic, taking a full three techniques before unraveling the Great Formation and leading the four into the inner hall.
Within the inner hall, various ancient and simple furnishings were on display, even a few wolf pelts hung around, but in the center hung a greenish-gray bow, full of scratches. It was only of Fetal Breathing Level, yet it looked exceptionally weathered.
Li Xihong and Li Xizhi exchanged a glance, both seeing the excitement and sentiment in each other’s eyes. Li Xizhi whispered mysteriously and excitedly,
"The ’Green Crow Bow’."
Li Xihong wasn’t much for words and responded with a heavy hum. This bow was Li Xiangping’s magic artifact before he passed away, and having read the clan history, they both knew of it.
Li Yuanjiao looked over the four of them, took out a jade slip, and said in a deep voice,
"Do you still remember the ’Guidance Technique’ I asked you to memorize a few days ago?"
"Of course, we remember..."
The four looked at each other and nodded. Li Yuanjiao, pleased, put away the jade slip and smiled,
"Good! That saves me the time."
He then led the four for a while before pushing open the doors of the ancestral hall. The ancestral tablets stood calmly at the top, appearing especially solemn amidst the swirling incense smoke.
"Hold hands!"
Li Yuanjiao led the four to bow respectfully, then patted each of them on their Shengyang Mansion acupoint, immediately sealing their six senses and directing them into the secret chamber. The grayish-green Dharma Mirror at the head shone brilliantly, as streamers of light flowed down like wisps of smoky moonlight.
Having the young ones kneel in succession, Li Yuanjiao bowed once more reverently before approaching. He extended his spiritual sense into the mirror, only to find five glowing white Talisman Seeds.
"Five...?!"
Li Yuanjiao was stunned for a moment, then joy spread across his face as he silently thought,
"So it turns out that Uncle Xuanfeng has established his Immortal Foundation!"
The Dharma Mirror always granted Talisman Seeds according to one’s strength. After Li Tongya achieved Foundation Establishment when he was alive, he had nine seeds. Now that Li Tongya had fallen, but there were still nine seeds, it meant Li Xuanfeng had made his breakthrough into Foundation Establishment.
"It’s just a pity that Uncle is trapped in Yi Shan City, cut off from news; such significant news was also missed..."
Li Yuanjiao sighed inwardly, feeling a little more confident. He took a step back and said respectfully,
"The Li Clan of Lijing, with devout offerings of food and drink, cold feasts, and sacrificial rites... Faithfully sending forth this petition, we burn the talisman, bidding farewell to Taiyin."
Lu Jiangxian’s Divine Sense was startled, emerging from the Dharma Mirror, as he observed the four kneeling children before him, an invisible and colorless ripple swept over them, and a white light, nearly transparent, shone from above the heads of each child.
"Another generation has come..."
The eldest youth in front appeared to be Li Xihong, looking honest, already sixteen or seventeen years of age, at the Third Layer of Fetal Breathing, his talent was passable, but his aura was only three inches tall, emitting a faint light; Lu Jiangxian’s gaze flitted lightly over him.
The second boy, dressed in brocade clothes and fur, resembled Li Yuanjiao in appearance, quite spirited, with equally short eyebrows suggesting a somewhat cunning nature.
"This must be Li Xizhi... he is to be sent to the Green Pond Sect."
Li Xizhi, twelve or thirteen years old at the Third Layer of Fetal Breathing, should be of the same level of talent as Li Yuanjiao and Li Qinghong; Lu Jiangxian temporarily rated it as upper class, with an aura six inches tall.
Next, Li Ximing finally had a seven-inch aura, his talent for cultivation only slightly less than Li Xizhi; Lu Jiangxian’s Divine Sense swept over him but noticed something amiss.
"Eh?!"
He closely inspected twice, from the Shengyang Mansion to the Twelve-Storied Pavilion, finally descending into the Qi Sea Acupoint, and indeed, it was exactly as described.
"Within this Qi Sea Acupoint, the crimson clouds rise in four directions, water and fire complement each other; the Qi of Shengyang Mansion is calm and correct, without the maladies of an imbalance in Yin and Yang... This is material for Alchemy!"
Having read a couple of Pill Scriptures, Lu Jiangxian perused many books on the Alchemy Dao from the archives of the Yu Family and the Fei Clan, naturally understanding much more than the members of the Li family; he immediately recognized the signs and was overjoyed:
"With a seven-inch aura, and after receiving the Mysterious Pearl Talisman Seed, he’ll also be a considerable talent, able to be a pillar for the Li family. And all the more so because he can practice Alchemy; he’s a treasure."
Lonely in the Mirror for eighty years, Lu Jiangxian watched successive generations of the Li family grow, and having seen the memories of both Li Chijin and Li Tongya, he had developed some affection, feeling a slight joy in his heart, he then turned his attention to the last, Li Xijun.
"...such good looks!"
Cultivators are not lacking in appearance, and having seen many people at the lake, Lu Jiangxian, having admired the handsome Li Chijin, the dignified Fei Wangbai, and the ethereal An Jingming, could not help but sigh upon seeing Li Xijun.
Li Xijun, born only a month or two later than Li Ximing, looked about the same age; with a well-favored countenance, albeit youthful, his features already hinted at sharp brows and starry eyes, standing out amongst his brothers.
"Mediocre talent, but a nine-inch aura."
Lu Jiangxian calculated with his fingers; although Li Xijun’s talent was ordinary, the enhancement from a nine-inch aura was enough to make him stand out from ordinary cultivators, on par with the untalented Li Ximing.
"Li Ximing is certainly to receive a Talisman Seed; now it’s between Li Xizhi and Li Xijun."
Lu Jiangxian, having an unprecedented surplus of Talisman Seeds, thus was generous; after some thought, he waved his hand grandly and threw out three Talisman Seeds.
"Li Xizhi is destined for the Green Pond Sect, and the speed of his cultivation will undoubtedly surpass others; he deserves one. If only Li Ximing receives a Talisman Seed, I fear he won’t be able to support the weight alone and may meet the same fate as the Yu Family."
"Although Li Xijun has ordinary talent, a nine-inch aura still makes him a small genius once he receives the Talisman Seed, so let him have one too!"
The three Talisman Seeds hovered above their heads, and the two remaining in Lu Jiangxian’s hand were sufficient for use by the Chengming generation; he then inserted "Golden Hall Bright Yuan Art," "Brief Explanation of Alchemy," and "Cold Pine Dew Snow Technique" into each of them, respectively.
At that moment, he formed a gesture, and three beams of white light leaped from the ash-grey mirror, breaking through the faint white moonlight that was misty like smoke, emitting brilliance in mid-air, looking extraordinarily mystical, with the ends of the streaming light faintly dividing into subtle rainbows, quite enchanting.
"Three Talisman Seeds?!"
Li Yuanjiao was overjoyed, seeing the streamers fall upon the three, he promptly slapped each of their shoulders to release the sealed six senses from the mana, and said in a deep voice:
"Calm your minds and steady your breaths; embrace the primal and protect the unity, and circulate your mana according to the ’Guidance Technique’!"
