Farming with Entries: From Lord to Emperor
Chapter 685 - 324: Traces of the Abyss (2)
Lusen paused and added, "Or… could it also be a tablet used to record knowledge?"
"Recorded on such extraordinary items, the knowledge would be passed down indefinitely."
"Unfortunately, I can't tell what material this is made of…"
Lusen turned to look at Luo De and asked, "Can I take it back to the Dawn Society for research?"
"Unfortunately, I can't tell what material this is made of…"
Lusen gently tapped the edge of the black tablet with his fingers, producing a crisp sound.
The sound was neither like stone nor metal, but a peculiar tone somewhere between the two.
He turned his head and instinctively asked Luo De,
"Can I take it back to the Dawn Society for research?"
There was a hint of desire in Lusen's tone.
"What do you think?"
Luo De asked back with a smile.
His voice was calm, with a trace of amusement in his eyes.
"Alright."
"What do you think?" Luo De asked back.
"Alright."
Lusen felt a bit foolish for asking such a question.
Luo De had always been nurturing his wizard apprentice; such mystical things would certainly not be handed over casually.
"If you are willing to stay here, I can let you research it."
Luo De looked at the somewhat disappointed Lusen and said, "If you are interested in it."
"You can use all the resources and extraordinary items in my domain."
He paused, his eyes fixing sharply on Lusen.
"You can even consult the tomes and magic materials in my collection."
Lusen was stunned by these words.
Luo De was suggesting leaving the Dawn Society and staying by Luo De's side, becoming his wizard apprentice.
It meant placing his future entirely in Luo De's hands.
Lusen fell into silence, his gaze shifting back and forth between Luo De and the black tablet.
He opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but found himself at a loss for words.
"Your Dawn Society is just a loose organization; you don't need to put up that look of having to make a difficult choice."
Luo De continued, "Some non-confidential knowledge, I can let you trade with the Dawn Society."
Apart from common knowledge, exchanges were required within the Dawn Society too.
Especially individual research results, rather than direct sharing.
If all knowledge were made available for free, some people would not conduct their own research; they would just enjoy the results of others' time and effort.
This is not beneficial for the development of spellcasters.
"This…"
Lusen hesitated, unsure of how to respond.
The terms offered by Luo De were very tempting.
"Saint Master!"
Just then, Tucson suddenly rushed out of the cave,
"Saint Master, the wyvern threw up again!"
Tucson shouted loudly, with panic in his voice,
"This time it vomited black blood!"
Luo De's heart tightened abruptly.
His expression instantly turned serious,
"Put the black tablet away!"
Luo De quickly instructed Vivian,
"Wrap it in animal hide. Don't let it come into contact with any living thing."
"Understood!"
Vivian immediately followed Luo De's instructions, taking a shawl from the hunter to wrap the tablet.
Luo De turned and rushed into the cave.
Lusen also put aside his earlier dilemma and immediately followed.
Before it, there was a large pool of viscous black liquid on the ground, emitting an even stronger foul smell than before.
The color of the liquid was so dark it seemed like solidified tar.
Under the torchlight, the surface of the black liquid shone with an eerie dark purple luster.
"It might be the black tablet that cut its internal body, with corrosive energy clinging to the wound."
Lusen stepped forward quickly, taking out a gemstone to inspect once more, his expression grim,
"Those chaotic corrosive energies are still constantly devouring its life force."
"Do we need a purification potion or purification spell?"
Luo De immediately asked.
"Ordinary purification potions and spells have no effect on this corrosive energy."
Lusen shook his head, his tone filled with helplessness.
"As far as I know, at least a second-ring spell, Lesser Restoration, is needed to return the wound's state to as it was before the injury."
"You know, second-ring spells…"
Lusen's eyes were filled with apology as he shook his head with a bitter smile, "For us low-level apprentices, it's simply too far beyond reach."
Lusen looked at Luo De and tentatively said,
"If you really want to save it, I can send a message back immediately. Perhaps the wise ones have a way."
"No need for now." 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
Luo De shook his head slightly, his eyes becoming profound, suddenly thinking of another person.
...
...
Prophet Bai Shuang never thought he would have the chance to ride a dragon in this lifetime.
He lay flat on the dragon's back, his hands gripping tightly the spikes protruding from Frost's spine.
The icy cold wind howled past his ears, stinging his cheeks.
He could feel the texture of the dragon scales beneath him, hard and cold, like rock.
Prophet Bai Shuang had never flown so high, so fast. His heart pounded wildly in his chest, and the feeling of weightlessness made his stomach churn continuously.
When Frost finally landed at the entrance of the snowy mountain cave, Prophet Bai Shuang's legs trembled uncontrollably.
The hunters helped him down, and he felt as if his knees had lost all support, almost collapsing to the ground.
His hands remained in a gripping position, too stiff to straighten.
Yet, despite that, Prophet Bai Shuang's face was all smiles, his eyes shining with excitement.
If someone asked him to choose again, he would undoubtedly choose to ride the dragon over.
Even if it meant going through that terrifying flight once more.
"Thank you for your grace, Great Saint Master, for giving me the opportunity to ride a dragon in this lifetime!"
