Fated to my mate's step-brothers
Chapter 37
Brielle
Walking into the house, I was beaming with a smile, it felt like I had gone shopping. Staring at all the beautiful things I couldn’t afford brought great joy to me.
So this was what it felt like to be rich? Being able to afford all the beautiful things displayed at the store.
I exhaled deeply as I walked into the house, knocking softly on the door and when I heard a grunt, I walked inside, my head bowed and my shoulder slumped in disappointment.
I didn’t want it to end, I wanted to stroll round the streets for as long as possible.
Walking into the room, I swallowed when I found both alphas seated on the bed, staring at me with a huge frown on their faces.
"Alpha... The chauffeur said..."
"We’re leaving." Alpha Ryker announced and I nodded, grabbing my little bag as I dashed out with them.
I entered the second car while they left, only the goddess knew what was wrong but it was great to be out of the reach of Dylan.
His words still replayed in my head. Was I really sick? Certainly if I was then mom would’ve discovered that but thinking about how he said he never wanted to inform me made my heart melt softly.
"You’re not sick... Do not fall for his trap." I whispered to myself as we drove out of the borders.
It was late already and the car sped by, alone on the road. The air was chilly and I rubbed my arms, looking out of the window.
The car screeched to halt suddenly, pushing everyone forward and I panted heavily as I wondered what was wrong.
"We’re under attack, we’ll have to leave the car here." A guard announced as they began to shift into their wolf forms, kicking the door open.
"If you know what’s best for you, shift and run back to the pack, you’re the easiest prey." A guard declared and my eyes widened.
"I... My... My wolf is dormant..." Before I could finish my sentence, he dashed away, snarling as they fought with the rogues.
I was filled with fear, torn between running into the wild and remaining here. Running would be the dumbest idea, my wolf could’ve stood a chance but not my human body.
"Argh!" I yelled as I slammed the door shut, locking it as one rogue jumped on the car.
One was on the ceiling, another on the front and back mirror and I screamed as they clawed at the windows, giving it cracks while hitting it.
"Help! Help!" I screamed my lungs out, breathing heavily while moving from side to side.
The car had gone hot, I was drenched in sweat as I folded my leg to myself, shivering while hoping Blair would come out of her dormant stage.
"Argh!" I whimpered as the glass shattered, a few pieces getting onto my skin. I moved away, trying to protect myself from the claw that was now inside the car.
"Help!" The back glass shattered completely and I shut my eyes tightly, knowing I was rogue food.
I was stunned to hear loud growls as another larger wolf jumped on the ceiling. To my astonishment, a large black wolf was tearing the rogues to pieces, his movements so swift, it was hard to predict his next step.
My breathing slowly returned to normal as I watched, my arms around my folded legs.
"Help!" I screamed when another black wolf pulled the door open, ripping the door out. He was in his half form and I couldn’t help but shiver with fear.
What if he was a rogue pretending to be a wolf? I had never seen anyone as huge and majestic as him and my eyes almost popped out at the realization that both alphas were saving me.
I rushed into his arms, nestled in his embrace like an infant and together, they dashed into the wild.
I didn’t know who was carrying me but he held on firmly like I was the most important thing in the world.
We were halfway gone into the forest when one of them gasped, pausing as blood appeared on his chest.
He had been shot. The one holding me looked back, snarling as he walked over to his brother, placing his hand around his shoulder as he began running deeper into the forest.
Only the goddess knew how many hours we walked but my heart swelled greatly. Beasts or not, today was remarkable.
They could’ve left me to die... They could’ve abandoned me and used me to keep the rogues away for some time but they fought for me and protected me.
I felt tears building up in my eyes, it was hard to hate and not hate them... Now all I could feel was gratitude.
"Thank you so much, alphas... Thank you." I whispered softly.
I tried getting down but he held me close, his scent filling my nostrils as the moon shone brightly.
My eyes lit up when he pulled up in front of a house, the injured one groaning softly as he was placed on the floor.
I was stunned when the door opened, was this one of their hideouts? I had heard countless stories about alphas having houses in the forest, this left me stunned.
After entering the house, he dropped me on the couch while he walked away with his twin, only goddess knew where they were headed.
I remained on the couch for hours, I didn’t dare move an inch, everywhere was covered in darkness.
I was filled with fear but at the same time I was glad that we were no longer inside.
Did they foresee the future and know they would be getting attacked one day? Are there any other maids in this house?
In no time, my eyes turned heavy and no matter how hard I tried to stay awake, my body gave in to exhaustion at the end of the day.
