Fated To The Dark Alpha
Chapter 266 - 264. Battle 12: Darren 2
"Isn’t that just sweet, the Alpha Supreme needs protection," a man’s voice was heard along with a chuckle of ridicule. The sarcasm in his tone could be heard but Darren remained silent, his gaze still on Lucy who found it had to keep her gaze matched with his.
"Alpha," Mateo called as he drew closer. Something was off about the way the alpha looked at Lucy, it was as if his perception of her had changed and it was not in a good way. "What are your orders?" he asked, at least to get him to stop staring at Lucy that way.
Darren shut his eyes and drew in a deep breath then released slowly and his eyes opened again but their color remained the same, pitch black.
"Lucy and Matei handle the witch and wolf with her, the rest of you, get rid of the humans," he instructed and shifted at the same time. Leaping up a tree, he headed in a different direction.
"Brother..." Levi called but Mateo shook his head.
"You have heard the order from Alpha, let him be," he said and walked over to Lucy. "What happened?"
"We can talk later, let us just take care of this," Lucy said. She didn’t know the exact reason behind Darren’s behavior, but she had some guesses of her own and hoped to be wrong. Where he was going, all she had to do was make sure she put Crysta down and go there as soon as possible to make sure everything was as it should be. She didn’t want him to think everything she did in the past and is still doing was because of...
She shook her head and muttered a spell
before disappearing from everyone’s sight.
"Now what..." Leo sighed as nothing made sense right now. The Alpha just left without a word about where he was going and now, Lucy was being weird and secretive.
"Focus on the fight," Levi said as Matei had already headed in the direction where the shifter was sensed.
"I will go with them, that is not just a rogue. He is the former Alpha of the Desert Pack, Alpha Norman. Don’t follow me, stay under the Supreme Gamma’s command" Alpha Ramiel said to his pack warriors and he ran after Mateo. This was a fight he wanted to take part in.
Levi just massaged his temple and sighed at how unreasonably they were acting. "Alright everyone, we are all familiar with what the humans are capable of, so do not be reckless and have each other’s backs. Now, take your positions,"
Meanwhile,
Darren goes through the forest floor heading for the Blackstotm pack. He was going to Kora. He could not quite understand how it happened but he was able to read a few of Lucy’s memories as well as some of her emotions which he would have preferred not to. But through her memories, he was able to know what Kora’d plan was and where she was heading.
Suddenly, he stopped and stared into the distance where a man’s silhouette could be seen. A deep growl was heard from him but unlike the raging beast that he was, Darren remained calm, staring almost blankly at him which resulted in another angry growl.
"Step out of my way," Darren spoke, his tone was calm but the threat in it was profound. "Do not make me repeat myself," he warned but the other man suddenly started laughing.
Although it was dark, they didn’t have any issues seeing each other. They could also hear each other perfectly with their high sense of hearing.
"I must admit Alpha Supreme, your speed surprised me. A few days ago you were not this fast, or it is because you are running from me?" He asked in an almost amused tone but cursing inwardly at how much he fell behind even after much training to be better than the shifter in front of him. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
"I told you..." in a blink of an eye, Darren stood before him with his hand on the neck of the man who stood in his way. "get out of my way," he tossed him against a tree and it cracked while he groaned in pain. "I have no time to deal with rogues," Darren took a step forward but felt his arm being grabbed from behind him. Claws sank into his arm and he began to bleed.
"Did you think it would be as easy as it was before to put me down, Alpha Supreme...?" His words were caught in his throat when he stopped bleeding even with the claws still embedded inside him. "...How...?" A punch was thrown at him and he was then lifted off the ground and tossed against another tree which gave similar results as the previous.
"No, it will be much easier," Darren came to stand in front of the groaning shifter.
"Why are my wounds not healing?" he asked, one hand clutching an injured part while the other supporting his weight on the ground. "What did you do to me?" It was the blood moon, all shifters should have I crease in power and that included their healing abilities too but his wounds were not healing while Darren’s healed even while he still had claws buried inside his body.
"It just shows how weak you are," Darren tried and sent a kick to the side of the man. "A rogue Alpha, aren’t you ashamed?" He kicked him again sent him flying to the side. "What made you think you could me?"
Norman started to feel fear cheap in on him. Something was wrong with Darren, he didn’t feel it before but he could feel it now. He was not himself. That calmness in his countenance was not something a lycan was known for, rather, it was the opposite but that was what he was seeing now. His eyes should have turned red but they were pitch black right now.
Lycan would reap you apart the moment they get the chance and Darren had always done that before but this person he was faced with now seemed more interested in torturing the life out of him.
