Fated To The Dark Alpha
Chapter 272: Signs of a brighter future
Dmitri stood still, raised his head, and looked up at the sky as silence enveloped the surroundings. The noise from before, all the shooting and screaming had stopped. He also had to force his vampires to stop since it was what he had agreed to do when he made his promise to Gaia.
He sighed and turned around. "Let us leave. They will be able to see again in a few hours, we must leave the town before that happens. As much as the werewolves were shielded from the human eyes whenever they took their beast forms, it did nothing to vampires except conceal their very existence from human memory. They didn’t have another firm to take, so it couldn’t be kept hidden. The vampires would have to be more discreet unless they want another war to break out.
While the supernaturals made their way back or avoided coming into contact with others, the humans were at a loss. Everything around their homes and streets were destroyed, but they did not know what happened or caused it.
They looked at one another, asking each other what happened, but no one could provide the necessary answer. Everything was so chaotic a moment ago, but now....

At the Shadow Moon Pack,
Leo and Logan stood over the body of Jared. He was still alive but barely breathing. He could still see them, unlike the civilians in the towns that Dmitri had attacked. They looked at him with disgust in their eyes.
"Do you now understand how the little boy felt when he was killed on your order?" Leo asked. They still held a grudge over that, and they intended to give him a painful death.
Just as he tortured those families, he wanted to inflict the same kind of pain on him. It took so much courage and strength to not barge into that room and save the couple as well as their child or the child who was killed right in front of them. The shifter fighting in vain just to save his son was heart-wrenching, and it was all thanks to this man.
"You think killing me would end this?" Jared mustered the strength as he laughed in ridicule. Nothing will change. Everyone has seen you now, and they will hunt you all down one after another. Creatures like you wouldn’t last long any longer."
"You had a moment to say your last words, and that is all you could say?" Levi said as he made his way to where they stood.
"Is it a lie? Tell me that you are not afraid. You have always been afraid that is why you chose to live in the shadows," Jared argued, and Levi chuckled. "I was a fool to have trusted that you and your boss were decent people."
"Don’t worry about that now. It is no longer your burden to bear," Levi replied, and he smiled. He turned around and started walking away. "Oh... by the way, Luna is in labor, and she got the goddess to stop the war. Humans have no memory of us anymore. They also can’t see us when we shift."
"What?!" Even Logan and Leo were shocked to hear that.
"Levi, hold on. What you just said, it is true?" Logan asked, but Levi ignored him while grinning as he walked away.
"Look at that. The Alpha heir will be born today. Don’t you think it is a sign of a brighter future?" Leo stooped down and asked Jare. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Jared didn’t know know what to say as he went silent, waiting for when they would decide to kill him. When he came here, he wanted to finish up as quickly as possible and go home, but now, he was in the mercy of another. His thoight drifted to witch he thoight he would encounter in the chaos but he she didn’t once appeared before him again. He was angry at himself for thinking about thay witch now. If all people, why would she be the one he would wish to see before taking his last breath? It was ridiculous.
"We have to go and catch up with Alpha, Mateo, and Levi. They’ll leave soon. I want to see Alpha’s baby before everyone else does," Logan said, and Leo chuckled, but he also couldn’t deny that he also felt giddy after hearing that news. It was just what the people needed after such an ordeal. At least they would be assured of having a certain future.
"In that case, you can finish him off. Make it quick. I need to find something to wear. I just hope that not everything was burned down," he started walking towards the trees in the distance, unaffected by the fire that caught the pack and its surroundings. Hopefully, a few clothes will still be hidden somewhere there.
Leo shook his head and chuckled. He was as excited as Logan was. It seems Hared wouldn’t be getting the hard and painful death anymore. It would feel right torturing him now.

Meanwhile,
Darren sat restless in front of the hospital room where Kora was in. He had wanted to go inside but they wouldn’t let him. Even Sophia and Dan wouldn’t let inside.
"You have to relax, Alpha Supreme," Lazarus walked with his hands tucked in his pockets. He didn’t look stressed. He chuckled when he got closer to Darren, finding it amusing how unease he was.
"Would you say that if it were your mate in there?" Darren asked, and Lazarus raised a brow.
"She is in there, and don’t forget that I had to get my kid out of her myself in order to save her," he reminded. Although Darren k ew it was the truth, he still snickered and looked away from him. "She will be fine. Although, you could have waited until she was older before making her mother," Lazarus said, and Darren ignored him. "I don’t mind being a grandfather, though."
"Are you complaining, scolding, or praising?" Darren couldn’t quite get him right now. One second, he was saying he shouldn’t have, and the other, he didn’t mind having a grand kid.
"All of the above," Lazarus bluntly replied, and Darren clicked his tongue. Lazarus looked at him and smiled inwardly. He was much better now. He didn’t know the details of what happened, but the results were already visible. His aura, although still heavy and strong, it didn’t have the dark edge in it anymore.
"You know I am still your Alpha, right?" He stood up and said.
"Yes, but right now, yi are just a son in law who is worried about my daughter," Lazarus approached the door and held the handle.
"You are not allowed in there," Dareen reminded, but Lazarus laughed.
"No, you are not allowed inside, I am a doctor, and you are not," he went ahead to open it. He smiled at Darren before stepping through. "Keep listening, and you’ll end up more worked up," were his last words before he shut the door behind him. Darren clicked his tongue and sat back down and tapped his foot every second.
