Fated To The Dark Alpha
Chapter 46.Retreat!
Mateo was at the northern border when he received a link from Darren telling him to get ready and not long after that, he could hear the approaching sound of multiple footsteps and the snarling of the beasts but he could not pick any scent from them at all. It felt bizarre but that was what happened.
He signaled the warriors with him to get ready for an attack maybe an ambush as it seems that they were coming from all directions around them. The enemy finally came into view before their eyes but Mateo did think much about them. His only problem was the spell casters who were with them besides that, they were just the everyday rogues that attacked the pack trying to break in.
Just like with Darren, the fight started with the spell casters attacking first trying to take down the leader and leaving the weaker ones for easy picking. And also just as with Darren , the beta was protected which left him and Leo suffering minor injuries that healed quickly while those who took the brunt were severely injured and had to stay aside to heal while the battle ensued.
"Are you all okay?" Mateo asked looking at his men. They had suffered casualties, luckily there were not much who’s condition was critical.
"Yes, supreme beta." they responded taking their positions and awaiting his command. Looking at their opponents, they were many of them and the fact that they were a mix of, shifters, vampires and spell caster was what made them waver but they still stood strong beside their beta. Though he was not an original member of the the Shadow moon pack, he was the Beta to the Alpha so they listen to him.
"Wait until they make the first move." He said through the mindlink which they all nodded.
As if his words were heard by their opponents an attack was launched right after his words and bloody battle began as those from Mateo’s and Leo side attack as well. Mateo shifted into his gray coloured wold followed by Leo in his brown colloured wolf and the rest followed their lead shifting and attacking.
As minutes passed by, more people were dropping in the ground lifeless, shifter fall and shifts back into their human skins as they drop dead and the vampires turn to ash. Both parties were losing warriors at an increased rate that the spell casters who had stepped aside thinking that their job was done had to come back in and assist which then proved a disadvantage to the warriors of the Shadow moon pack.
They were good in close range attack and could defend themselves but when it came down to spells, they were unable to do a thing about it as they would be attack at a long distance and wouldn’t be given the chance to cover the distance not without getting hurt and weakened or probably dying before getting to your opponent.
Mateo and Leo were becoming agitated. It was already hard to fight of the combine attacks of the vampires and werewolves and now they have to fight while dodging the attacks of the Spell casters. Seeing their warriors fall with each attack Mateo felt helpless. He wished he had Lucy or Lucinda with him but they were sent in an erand by the Alpha and he didn’t know when they would be back.
"What do we do?" Leo asked Mateo through the link. "We can’t keep fighting like this, we’ll all die at this rate."
"We can’t give up either, the only choice we have is to keep fighting," Rrplied Mateo and growled at the shifter who was attacking him. "Fuck!" He caused as he was being lifted off the ground and forced to shift to his human skin by a witch. He growled and looked at the witch who had a smirk on her face while conjouring a black flame.
The black flame was launched at him making all of his allies hold their breathes in fear of the worst happening to their leader. Just when the black flame was about to reach him a barrier appeared shielding him and the spell faster who had attacked him was sent flying.
"Sorry I am late." Lucinda said as she approached Mateo who shifted to his beast again. Everyone eyes turned to her and from the link, relief sighs could be heard from the shifters.

The battle in the South was even worse and looked more gruesome than what was happening in the North. Darren had led the warriors and massacre almost all the rogues and vampires who attacked them and was left a few. The ground beneath their feet was painted red with blood and bodies that were either ripped apart or left whole lying on the ground, unalive.
Though Darrem had lost a few warriors, they were not as much as his enemies’ loses. Sebastian who had managed to avoid a direct fight with Darren all the while was beyond terrified. For the first time he has seen exactly what Darren was capable of and was not prepared for it. He thought he was but he was wrong. Dead wrong. He looked at his body that had many wounds that were gradually healing and back at the battle before him.
He watched as the people he led to the battle lost their lives one after the other in the hands of Darren and his warriors and wondered what sort of training Darren put them through to have become this formidable or was just the effect of their leader? Because they weee mot like that five years ago.
"What do we do?" A witch approached him seeking orders. He was the one who was in charge of the mission to the Shadow moon pack.
"Have all spell casters attack at once in a combine attack. " He said and the witch nodded her head passing the message to her colleagues. "Everyone else retreat!" He said, shouting so that they could all hear him. This was the one part he hated. Not having a link between them and all their plans had to be voiced which will also alarm their opponents.
Hearing that, Darren growled and stood still waiting for what they were about to do next. If running was their plan then he was ready to chase and hunt after them after all, he is a predator who loves to chase and taunt his prey. "All of you, stop!" He said through the link and his warriors stopped and stod behind him while Logan came to stand next to him in his Black wolf form.
They saw the spell casters come forward all at once and Darren finally understood what was happening. He looked at them a bit worried until he caught a heart beat that he was familiar with approaching and turned to the direction it came from and a smirk appears on the face of his lycan.
"Alpha!" Lucy said with a bow and stood on Darrens left.
