Find a Troubled Girl after leaving the Guild
Chapter 569 - 290: Shadow Factory
Andasu stepped forward, and the shop owner, seeing her come over, was not polite and directly asked, "What do you want?"
"This old man’s design has no issues. I watched the whole process, and as he said, the original weaknesses of the design were modified." The young girl pointed at the engine under debate. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
"What issues? This is a finished product from the Sky Flame Shipyard! With this name, I can sell it. What has he done to it?" The shop owner angrily replied.
The old man said, "Selling things like this is deceiving people. The higher the load, the more risk there is of it stopping and being unable to restart. Crises are everywhere in the air. If the ship is unreliable, how many people could it kill?"
The old man was calm, but his words carried weight: "I can’t allow Sky Flame to sell things like this."
After he finished speaking, the shop owner suddenly calmed down, squinting at the old man: "Are you from the Shadow Factory?"
Before the old man could speak, the shop owner immediately turned around and walked to the counter: "Go, get out of here. I’ll settle the payment for you, just leave immediately."
The shop owner, who was initially angry and confident, now seemed a bit guilty.
Andasu, along with Li Ang and others behind her, stayed in place.
Li Ang had roughly guessed that White Wolf wanted to speak out due to his understanding of mechanical technology.
He had indeed heard before that some factories in the City of the Ship’s Rudder had started reducing quality since they had a stable market share.
This old man was clearly an engineer who grew up in the City of the Ship’s Rudder; his attire, posture, and familiarity with machines were all telling.
He could not tolerate such market behaviors, and his adjustments ruined the harmonious golden paintwork, but that was just a matter of repainting, and the engine being unseen was only relevant when it was sold as a product.
The only problem was that he was modifying someone else’s product, which did not belong to him.
But given the severity of the matter, everything became uncertain, and ship engines could involve the lives of everyone onboard, perhaps that’s why the old man could not stand it.
Yet the concept of the Shadow Factory made Li Ang hesitate.
The old engineer said no more, took the payment from the shop owner, packed his tools into his bag, or onto his work uniform, and turned to walk out of the shop.
As he passed by Andasu, Li Ang, and others, he glanced at them a few more times.
Andasu was a bit dazed, not expecting the situation to unfold so unlike her understanding.
"Let’s go." Li Ang stepped forward to call her.
The shop owner seemed to regain some spirit, saying to Andasu, "What are you standing there for? You’ve been standing just watching for a long time without buying anything, are you a pauper from Ruins City?"
White Wolf said, "I was originally going to discuss his modification location, maybe make it even better."
Li Ang and the shop owner were both stunned.
This guy was not just speaking out for justice. Li Ang scratched his head, remembering that her past identity wasn’t exactly reputable, just that her environment led to her being especially good in certain areas but also particularly naive in others.
Pulling White Wolf along with the young girls, they left the shop. Farina immediately asked quietly, "Is that Shadow Factory very special? Do you know about it?"
"Shadow Factory, it’s something I heard about once when I came to the City of the Ship’s Rudder from a knowledgeable Sky Knight. It’s a bit like an urban legend around here." Li Ang recalled: "From what I heard back then, it was said that some opponents in many big factories at the City of the Ship’s Rudder established a factory of their own, aiming to create the Ultimate Battleship to seize power."
"The Ultimate Battleship!" Zoe’s eyes immediately lit up.
"Were they oppressed and treated unfairly?" ALulu asked.
"I don’t know the specifics. Let’s first find a place to stay." Li Ang replied.
After walking a few steps, Li Ang realized that at some point, the Water Dragon had disappeared.
However, he was not planning to manage her. It was evident that this Divine Incarnation did whatever came to mind, probably off to find a drink or something else that caught her interest.
Originally, they were just strolling around the streets to relax and searching for a shipyard, so they needed to settle down first.
But the road was difficult to walk.
Firstly, there were the sights on the eve of the so-called celebration, with various races and accents of tourists crowding the already narrow streets. Unlike the Holy City or City of Trade, there were no spacious commercial streets here, and the celebration seemed hastily arranged, with no proper preparations made.
Secondly, many of the easy paths were temporarily closed for competition preparations, and many inns were located on these roads. One of the better ones where Li Ang had stayed before was inaccessible, having been completely booked by unknown individuals, and the barricading people couldn’t say who booked it.
Walking further, they saw a relatively wide street divided in the center, turning into some kind of procession parade.
These "vehicles" were small Flying Airships, more aligned with the concept of "airships" than the wasteland-style ones of the Flashing Field, probably manufactured by factories in the City of the Ship’s Rudder. Their appearance was luxurious and flamboyant, leaving no room for criticism.
The pilots of these airships were, of course, enthusiasts from various Sky Islands. Generally, besides the Flashing Field, similar events were rare elsewhere. No one knew who hosted this celebration, but it sure gathered a huge crowd.
At the moment, they sat on their racing airships, receiving attention from all around, while some women apparently new to spectating screamed madly in the crowd.
The racing airships lined up and stopped on a relatively spacious small square, with the road ahead temporarily closed and already cleared.
